Only in the Minds of the Non Thinking... Democrats

Apparently some democrats and progressives consider putting a National Park on the Moon, at what cost only Zeus knows, is money money well spent.

THE HILL - Two House Democrats have proposed legislation that would establish a national historical park on the surface of the moon to mark where the Apollo missions landed between 1969 and 1972.

The bill from Reps. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) would create the Apollo Lunar Landing Sites National Historical Park. The park would be comprised of all artifacts left on the surface of the moon from the Apollo 11 through 17 missions.

The bill says these sites need to be protected because of the anticipated increase in commercial moon landings in the future.

"As commercial enterprises and foreign nations acquire the ability to land on the Moon, it is necessary to protect the Apollo lunar landing sites for posterity," according to the text of the Apollo Lunar Landing Legacy Act, H.R. 2617.

Under the legislation, the park would be established no later than one year after the bill passes and would be run jointly by the Department of the Interior and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). {Read More}

  1. In related new, the house Democrats have announced that the proposed lunar park will encompass and preserve the historic site of the boyhood home of California governor Jerry Brown.

And in a move inspired by the Mayor of DC and his current plans to keep retailers from hiring large numbers of unemployed people, it has been proposed to pass a minimum wage law on the moon. This will keep astronauts off the moon and head off the possibilities of lunar industry spoiling the pristine dust seas and craters. Former green jobs czar Van Jones, who presided over the US economy shedding hundreds of thousands of jobs during his brief tenure, has been tapped to prevent any possibility of lunar economic growth just as he did in the US. He has also promised vast arrays of wind turbines in the Sea of Tranquility in order to meet lunar energy needs in a sustainable fashion.

  2. Well, it's a perfectly harmless and pleasant bill. I don't know why these sorts of things bother you guys. When I think of the ridiculous, often mean-spirited, crooked and harmful bills from the Right, it's nice to see something that's just perfectly harmless and pleasant for a change.

  3. But you do have a point, Jersey. It is harmless for a change. Imagine if Congress had passed laws setting aside Jupiter's Great Red Spot as a wildlife preserve instead of passing "healthcare" laws that discourage companies from hiring more than 49 people and force companies to cut worker hours from 40 per week to 30. We'd be a lot better off. Really.

Well I am sure a coal-fire electric generator with absolutely no EPA emission control, would be a better a non-thinking TeaBagging RepublicanT (like yourself?) goal. ...

One finds it amazing how petty, negative, and reactionary your vision is. Your philosophy is to do nothing but bitch endlessly, and then, when an event occurs, bitch that nothing was done to prevent/influence the event.

    Sad; really ....

    1. Ema, have you no sense of humor? A clear perspective? Or have been a member of the choir, nodding in obedience so long it has become just a programmed response for you?

      Inquiring minds want to know.

  5. @ Ema: Your philosophy is to do nothing...

If only we could get DC to 'do nothing' we would be much better off.

More multi-billion dollar boondoggles and liberty-eating projects have been launched with the progressive statist cry of 'Do Something'

The corrupt DC kleptocracy should just shovel dollars into incinerators and drop bagfuls from airplanes. It would be more efficient.

The $17 trillion dollar debt is also a perfect example of "Do Something!" without regard to consequencs or cost. The economy tanked in 2008 due to the "Do Something!" demand to have the government force banks to make massive amounts of bad loans to undeserving people.

  6. It is also clear who is doing the "nonthinking" here. Go ahead, Ema, push for the Kyoto accords, which actually have China do exactly what you "bitched" about: build lots more coal plants with absolutely no EPA control. That's what the hard left advocates, not me.

  7. Crazy Idea!

Kind of like landing a man on the moon back in the 1950's and early 60's or how about Reagan and that crazy idea about "Star Wars" Missle Defense program?

Of course we are still spending billions a year on both of those....
