I'm not a big Allen west guy, either (I guess that I prefer the more thoughtful black conservatives like Shelby Steele, Walter Williams, and Thomas Sowell), but he is who he is and he has every right to be that without some lunatic accosting him and his family in public. And in terms of answering your question, Les, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
ReplyDeleteThis guy was not ready at that moment to deal with an ideologue with a camera and a microphone.
ReplyDeleteBut he does generally have the right idea.
That's why he innately knows that the Republican party and it's ideals today are an anathema to itself in the mid-19th century, and that's why this cleverly small little man with a camera and a microphone begs the question.
It's easy to say "Lincoln was a republican," but it takes more explanation to show how the Republican party, from it's known precedents, has changed over the past almost 200 years now.
So, the statement, "Well, the GOP is the party of Lincoln! Do you like Lincoln??? No????? DO YOU EAT BABIES?!?!?!?," is like a sleazy shuffle on a street corner in early 20th century New York City.
This "conservative" filmmaker is a part of the problem, so to speak. He is the very element that has wrecked most of the havoc on this nation for about two generations now. He is the embodiment of a scam artist.

all very nice ideological excuses, Jersey. but not a very good defense of his use of language or his position as he stated.
ReplyDeletetry again
Typical stammering, stupid liberal. Vulgar and incoherent, angry for no apparent reason.
ReplyDeletePersonally I get sick of the whole the left is more racist than the right and vice versa. Racism has nothing to do with politics. It is a human thing. They exist on both sides of the aisle, they exist in all different income groups, and they exist in all different colors.
ReplyDeleteAre their people who don't like Obama because he is black? Yes. Are their people who don't like Allen West simply because he dares to be conservative while black? Yes.
If we keep making racism about politics, we only continue it by adding a layer that doesn't really exist.
I agree, JACG, but with both sides constantly playing the race car against the other, it's getting kind of hard to get rid of that layer. Unfortunately.
DeleteAnd therein lies the great challenge for our political structure(s) as well as our culture at large JACG and Will.
DeleteFree speech.
ReplyDeleteLack of class, maybe.
We are talking about Mr. Alan (count the commies) West. And the Republican party refuses to say publicly that Mr. West's Joe McCarthy like incendiary language, is unacceptable. At long last sir......... A certain lack of class.
You guys are suckers. This is the same sport of specious, circular propaganda we see Kurt Cameron suckering people on the streets with on that silly show of his.
ReplyDeleteSuckers.
JMJ
Just wondering jmj, are there not liberal "silly" show examples as well? Or is it that only the "other" side has silly shows?
DeleteSame question for conservatives.
Ed Schultz going apoplectic every evening is pretty darn silly, I'm thinking.
DeleteEh, the racism thing again? Usually it's just applied to Whites.
ReplyDeleteWhen the rich pursue their political interests it’s called “lobbying.”
When non-Whites pursue their political interests it’s called “civil rights.”
When the White working and middle classes pursue their political interests it’s called “White Supremacy.”
