"The Donald".... A Huge Liability For Romney

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

George Will hits the nail squarely on it's head.

ABC - This morning on “This Week,” ABC News’ George Will called Donald Trump a ”bloviating ignoramus,” questioning why presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is associating with the real estate mogul, who once again falsely questioned President Obama’s birthplace this week.

“I do not understand the cost benefit here,” Will said on the “This Week” roundtable. “The costs are clear. The benefit — what voter is gonna vote for him (Romney) because he is seen with Donald Trump? The cost of appearing with this bloviating ignoramus is obvious it seems to me.

“Donald Trump is redundant evidence that if your net worth is high enough, your IQ can be very low and you can still intrude into American politics,” Will added. “Again, I don’t understand the benefit. What is Romney seeking?”

Fox Business Network anchor Liz Claman agreed, adding “it’s a dangerous game that Mitt Romney is playing here because Donald Trump doesn’t have a lot to lose by keeping this birther conversation alive…Mitt Romney and his people have to decide whether standing next to Donald Trump means more votes or fewer votes.” {Read More}

I'm not sure who is the bigger fool, Trump or Romney.

  1. Gotta agree with you on this one. Trump is a buffoon. Associating with him can only harm Romney. There is no upside.

  2. I really don't get it, either. It's not like it's going to win Romney New York, or New Jersey, or Connecticut. In those states, Trump is considered a joke. Always was.

Is Donald Trump popular in the South???

Would any of us guys here even know???

    I don't get it.

    1. He's a reality show mogul, like the individuals responsible for dancing with the stars and American Idol...

      Shallow and Bloviating for sure...

  3. BHO proved that candidates are not judged by the company they keep. Trump has a following, although I don't know who they might be, but he does have a certain celebrity status and a lot of money. Mitt doesn't agree with Trump on all issues and has said so.

For Mitt to throw out anyone who supports Trump would be like BHO throwing out anyone who believes in the teachings of Karl Marx, just not good politics. Running for office is not about ideas, it is about money and a lot of it. Trump brings money to the table for Romney just like Soros does for BHO.

    1. I hear what you're saying skudrunner but I do think that Mr. Romney has to be at least somewhat careful here. This Trump fellow has really crossed the line with this birther crap and if Romney continues to associate himself this closely with him (he doesn't necessarily have to denounce him or anything, just don't hang around with him), I don't know, I really think that that will hurt him with independents.

    2. You said "Running for office is not about ideas, it is about money and a lot of it."

Of course you are right (practically speaking) skudrunner. Therein lies the root of the nations problems.

It should be about ideas, as LCR so often says, BIG IDEAS.

Until such time as it again becomes about rational BIG IDEAS this nation's downward spiral will continue. And that is not a partisan statement. It is a across the political board fact.

    3. You are quite likely correct (IMO) with your analysis. But my guess is as skudrunner said it is about the money, and the loonies who follow The Donald and will vote for Romney for no other reason than the Bloviating windbag tells them to.

Obama shouldn't be reelected but Romney likely won't and shouldn't win either.

As Ron Paul is done the only real choice (Gary Johnson) will be ignored by the media and therefore hasn't a chance of winning. So, it remains the choice between the lesser of two evils (again) or voting on principle and for big ideas that would actually work.

I'm a big idea guy and like the feel of principles.

  4. Although I believe in the Libertarian ideas I also believe that, if given more time, BHO can destroy the country. Voting for Johnson is voting for BHO and I cannot do that. As a small business owner, pro gun supporter, and fiscally conservative, BHO stands for everything I am against. More regulation, restricting gun ownership, more federal government control and a reduction in States rights, and increasing taxes to give to his voting base.

I would like to see a viable third party or sane alternative but we are not there.
