Tyranny... Could It Happen Here?

Many of us on the thoughtful conservative side have been saying for some time that Barrack Hussein Obama is essentially a statist. One who has the capacity and will to set our country even more firmly on the road to a Leviathan and tyrannical government.
President Obama, true to his "Hope and Change" vision has set the course to fundamentally chge the way American government functions. He has been attempting to consolidate more power in the federal government and increase its control over the private and business sector.
His huge scale federal federal bailout legislation, the take over of GM, the massive health insurance reform legislation, the BP shakedown, the increasing the size of the executive branch and appointment of czars accountable to no one a but a few examples.
George W. Bush was guilty of a large scale expansion in the role the fed played in our lives. But BHO will make GWB look like a minnow alongside a shark. The door was thrown open and the way paved for the ultimate progressive collectivist to take the helm.
Thomas Sowell, a conservative many have great respect for as do I had the following to say about the current occupant of the White House.
The president's poll numbers are going down because increasing numbers of people disagree with particular policies of his, but the damage being done to the fundamental structure of this nation goes far beyond particular counterproductive policies.
Just where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that a president has the authority to extract vast sums of money from a private enterprise and distribute it as he sees fit to whomever he deems worthy of compensation? Nowhere.
The man appointed by President Obama to dispense BP's money as the administration sees fit, to whomever it sees fit, is only the latest in a long line of presidentially appointed "czars" controlling different parts of the economy, without even having to be confirmed by the Senate, as Cabinet members are.
We are living in uncertain times, and the thought of Barrack Hussein Obama steering the ship of state is a frightening one. This man has it in his power to change the very make up of American society and its principals unless We The People prevent him from doing so. The ballot box will be as important in 2010 and 2012 as it ever has been.

What you and Dr. Sowell are saying is something that even many self-proclaimed conservatives view with contempt, going on and on about how it's some kind of tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory.
ReplyDeleteIt's strange how they have acquired such a "can't-happen-here" attitude, since unlike the goofballs who claim the misnomer "liberal," conservatives are supposed to be staunch supporters of the Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers knew that tyranny was something that could happen anywhere, so they did all they could to create a system under which the chance of that happening would be the lowest possible. American conservatives should know that. Maybe it's ignorance. Maybe it's complacency. Either way, history teaches repeatedly what happens when people like Barack Obama get into power. Obama himself may not be the next Hitler, Stalin, or Mao (personally, I think it's obvious that he's much too incompetent to attain their level of effectiveness in committing evil), but it is clear that, at the very least, he is the forerunner who is attempting to make sure that that door stays wide open. He's not just an enemy of the United States because of the damage that he is doing right now (which is enormous), but because he is paving the way for the utter destruction of our country.
It's a long road not only to stop the collectivist surge, but to reverse it and restore the Founding Principles. Liberty, slavery, or death are the only available options. Slavery is unacceptable under all circumstances, so it really does come down to liberty or death. Without liberty, life is meaningless.
Excellent, absolutely accurate and it is frightening.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is a combination of ignorance and complacency.
There are times I am thankful for my age. Another 25 or maybe 30 years is long enough in this day and age.
“Obama himself may not be the next Hitler, Stalin, or Mao...,but it is clear that, at the very least, he is the forerunner who is attempting to make sure that that door stays wide open.”
ReplyDeleteEver hear of the Anti-Christ, Bastiatarian?
“Without liberty, life is meaningless.”
Amen!
“There are times I am thankful for my age. Another 25 or maybe 30 years is long enough in this day and age.”
My feelings exactly, Rational!
>Ever hear of the Anti-Christ, Bastiatarian?
ReplyDeleteI don't know that Chairman BaO fulfills all the requirements for getting upper-case "A" status, but he's definitely more than qualified for lower-case "a" status.
I've always pictured the Anti-Christ as being a bit smarter, as well.
Bastiatarian, to use your phrase, "...he is the forerunner." You're right, of course, he's nowhere near bright enough.
