Just When You Thought You Had Seen Every Conceivable Thing....

by the Left Coast Rebel

.......you witness one that takes the cake and outdoes them all. Knowing that Obama's handling of the gulf oil spill has been nearly the disaster that the oil spill itself has been has pushed Obama (five weeks after the Deepwater Horizon explosion) to flounderingly move to plan b. Plan b. as explained by Carol at No Sheeples Here is as follows:

BP, the oil company taking flak for its inconsistent response to the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, bused in 400 extra cleanup workers to Grand Isle during President Obama's visit today, Jefferson Parish Council Chairman John Young said.

"It appears to have been a PR stunt by BP, not to say we don't appreciate the extra participation," Young said. "We certainly need them, but we don't need them for just one day that happens to coincide with a visit from the president.”Young said he saw the workers dressed in red shirts, blue jeans and black shrimp boots mulling across the beaches and in the mess hall during the president's appearance. They were uniformed in a way "which you don't normally see workers dressed like that," Young said.

After Obama's departure, Young said, the work crews all but vanished.
I've seen a lot in this man's disastrous short tenure so far but this may top them all.

Simply. Unreal.

From a vantage point of righteous indignation, not to mention anger, No Sheeples Here brandished forth this amazing video:

  1. I share your anger and view that government needs to do something about this LCR. I do take solace that you are finally abandoning your limited view of "less government" and realizing only a strong government of the people has the scope and authority to protect the people and set the course that will improve our lives.

  2. The problem, of course, is that Chairman BaO and the rest of the Borg don't do what the Constitution actually stipulates that they are to do, but rather spends all of their time and our money doing everything that they shouldn't be doing.

  3. Truth I too share LCR's and your anger. And Bastiatarian's comment above certainly hits the nail squarely on the head so to speak.

So I suppose that makes the anger us true independent conservatives with libertarian leanings double.

  4. Truth - I would argue that the larger and more centralized that our Fed government becomes, the less effective it actually is. On this we will most likely always disagree.

  5. Our anger is at ineffective clowns that always seem to be in charge. People who wait for the political winds and public anger to act instead of using sound judgement.

Everyone is calling for the feds to take over the oil leak in the Gulf. Everyone is angry at the Obama Administration for not acting from the start instead of taking BP's word that they had it under control.

I don't see a big government as the enemy. It's the corrupt and stupid people that operate it who are the enemy.

To go on further, say we shrink the Federal government. Stop fundign education and farm subsidies and corporate welfare. Stop all welfare. Then most of that responsibility falls to state and local government. Either way, it's big and still has to be paid for. Taxes won't go down. They may in fact go up. Who knows? We'l just be paying more property tax and state tax to make up for what they stop getting from the Federal government.

I could go on but it may be a topic for another post RN.

  6. >I don't see a big government as the enemy.

Big government is ALWAYS the enemy, since by definition, big government is an enemy to the rights of the people.

    >Then most of that responsibility falls to state and local government.

No. It goes to private citizens who voluntarily use their own property to help others, rather than having it stolen by a governmental thug to give to someone that has no right to it.

Theft and oppression are theft and oppression, regardless of what level of government has legalized them.

You keep agreeing with me in roundabout ways Mr. Bastarian. You call for asking wealthy property owners, who benefit from the protections of theor wealth and property, in addition to benefitting from our economic system protected by government, to be nice and share their largess.

I simply ask they pay a fair share to the government that protects and makes their wealth possible. I am more than happy to pay my share on incomes and investments. And I'm happy to elect legislators who will invest that money to benefit all Americans. There is another thing we will agree upon. It's not "government" that is the enemy. It's that we have too many turkeys who care about their own agendas and supporters than America as a whole.

  8. Truth - While I agree with Bastiatarian I see your point.

However, who is to determine your "fair share" or mine, or Bastiatarian's, or any others? The government who will take as much as it can at the point of a bayonet (or gun) until the citizenry finally says enough is enough.

My dear liberal friend IMO we have reached that point in our history.

I wish those of you on the rational left would really hear and understand the principals that Bastiatarian, LCR, myself, and so many others like us us stand for.

But no, so many on your side (and I do not include you in this reference) prefer to demean, disrespect, malign, misrepresent, belittle, mis characterize, and trash our love of country and ability to see the fallacies in the agenda of the extreme right.

Many of us actually understand that GWB is as much responsible for the explosion of Big Government as anybody. Yet the left continues....

    And so the world turns.

    Good Day Sir
