Romney Takes Southern Republican Leadership Straw Poll By One Vote

Not that the Southern Republican Leadership Conference straw poll is necessarily important or telling at this time...  however it is worth analysis.

Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts and architect of Massachusetts' "universal health care", that is turning out to be another government albatross around the necks of Massachusetts residents, out polled Ron Paul by one vote.

This would be relatively insignificant if it were not for the simple fact that Ron Paul's record is one of supporting, and voting for individualism, limited government, Austrian Economics, and a realistic non interventionist foreign policy. Please do not be fooled by the assertion of liberals that Ron Paul is an isolationist. Nothing could be further from the truth. Before you decide please read his book "The Revolution, A Manifesto."

Our country is at a crossroads. The choices we make in the upcoming elections in 2010 and 2012 could very well determine our viability as a strong and prosperous nation. We have the choice to make the painful decisions now, or let things continue to erode and face a by far worse scenario later. The fact is reality is catching up to the failed government policy of intervention into our markets. The reality is this... government intervention into a free market always has unintended consequences. Almost always they are negative, and a study of economic history will prove this out.

For those desirous of more information on Austrian Economics, and a rational understanding of the relationship that should exist between the peoples of a free society and the free market visit the Ludwig von Mises  Institute.

Ron Paul with his belief in liberty and following the strength provided in our Constitution as written, is perhaps the best hope for American economic and political survival. The political establishment, both democratic and republican have lied to the American people for decades in pursuit of preserving their political power and the personal benefits derived from retaining their power over the people of this nation. It simply has to stop and those of a measured and rational mindset such as Ron Paul possesses offer the best hope for America's future.

The fact that Mitt Romney, a RHINO of the first order, beat an honest and straight talking Libertarian Republican is to me amazing. If this is an indication of what's to come we are destined to continue the downward political and  economic spiral we have experienced for at least the last twenty one  plus years.

There is more on the results of the Southern Republican Leadership Conference straw poll and it can be read here. It should be noted that this straw poll is not indicative of a potential candidates success or failure. It is merely a snapshot of the potential as it stands at this point in time.

Rational Nation USA encourages all concerned patriotic Americans to educate themselves on the issues and become knowledgeable of their Constitution as it has been, and continues to be, shredded little by little with each passing administration over the past one hundred plus years.

Our nations and it's values and founding principals are worth saving. The question that needs to be asked, and the challenge that must be faced are these... are we up to the task and challenge of making the tough and hard choices to set our beloved country back on the road to prosperity.

The choice is ours, the options are few, and the time is running short.
