Drain the Swamp and Dump Its Lerader In 2020...

May 28, 2020-The Lincoln Project’s latest ad released today shows that U.S. Senate Majority Leader and senior senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, made tens of millions of dollars since he was first elected to office. Meanwhile, Kentucky ranks 40th in job opportunity in the nation, 45th in education, and 43rd in health care. “I’m a conservative lawyer of the type that McConnell has prided himself for putting on the bench. But precisely because I’m a conservative lawyer, I believe most fundamentally in the Constitution and the rule of law,” said Lincoln Project co-Founder George Conway. “When he fixed the impeachment trial by blocking evidence of Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors, McConnell violated and abased the solemn oaths he took as a United States Senator. Add in the fact that, as our ad shows, he’s managed to do much better for himself than for the people of Kentucky, and it becomes a no-brainer: McConnell has to go.” It is most critically important that we DUMP TRU...

Tonight's VP Debate, Mike Pence With the Unenviable Position of Defending The Donald's Madness...

Image
Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth Watching the VP debate tonight should be interesting. More so to see Trump's reaction to his running mate's performance than the actual debate itself. tRump has undoubtedly moved presidential politics to new lows and all indications are he intends to take them lower. Sadly the republican party will suffer s a whole, But they've done the damage to themselves as really have no one to blame but themselves. Tim Kaine isn’t Mike Pence’s only opponent Tuesday night in the only debate between the vice-presidential hopefuls — Pence also has to cope with the big shadow cast by his party’s standard-bearer, Donald Trump. That’s one reason Democratic members of The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of swing-state activists, strategists and operatives — are more optimistic about Kaine’s chances of delivering a winning performance than Republicans are about Pence’s. Virtually all Democratic insiders surveyed last week, 97 percent, expect Kain...

Rep. Louie and the Fear Propagators ...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Lib erty -vs- Tyr anny Louie Gohmert - One Scary Idiot As it goes Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is one slightly unbalanced and therefore rather disturbing individual. His "way out in left field" claim that President Obama's administration has Muslim Brotherhood members is, IMNHO opinion based on one of two things. The fact "good ole Louie" is incapable of accepting we have a mixed race President, or he is simply stirring the pot of fear. Much like Senator McCarthy did in a bygone era. In either case he is doing a great disservice to the American public. As a fiscally conservative social Libertarian I challenge the fear mongering right to provide some significant evidence in support of the delusions they would have us all accept as factual reality. TPM - Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) went after the Obama administration's handling of the Boston Marathon bombing investigation in a radio interview Thursday -- and alon...

The Final Farewell......

Image
After 10 years on Blogger it is time to say goodbye. It’s been an interesting up and down run, one that has been both fun and frustrating. In fact with so many ill-informed and hyper partisan folks out there it has even been maddening from time to time. I know our American politics have always been somewhat lively and partisan, but, I honestly don’t recall any time in my adult life that they have been as divided and nasty as they are right now. Trump bears a GREAT deal of responsibility for the rapid deterioration of civil and rational discourse over the last 3 + years. When America elected its first bi-racial President division took on a new and more sinister face. I say this not because Barack Obama actively attempted to divide our nation, I say this because the white conservative/republican/Evangelical alliance against President Obama set about to insure his Presidency would fail. You may remember the republican leadership actually verbalizing their desire to see Obama fail. Wh...

Scandals and Surveillance Taking Their Toll on the Obama Adminstration...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Lib e rty -vs- Tyr a nny It was inevitable. Sooner or later the mounting scandal allegations, combined with the NSA surveillance program, would take their toll on the administration of President Obama. With his approval ratings in almost free fall it is apparent this has happened. Ultimately the President is held to account and deemed responsible for the inner workings of the government the people of the USA entrusted him to LEAD. CNN - President Barack Obama's approval rating dropped eight percentage points over the past month, to 45%, the president's lowest rating in more than a year and a half, according to a new national poll. The CNN/ORC International survey released Monday morning comes as the White House has been reacting to controversies over a massive U.S. government surveillance program; the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of tea party and other conservative groups who applied for tax-exempt status; the ad...

In the News This Morning...

BEIJING (AP) — China announced a $3 billion list of U.S. goods including pork, apples and steel pipe on Friday that it said may be hit with higher tariffs in a spiraling trade dispute with President Donald Trump that companies and investors worry could depress global commerce. President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to veto the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill already passed by Congress, only hours before government funding would lapse. The about-face comes a day after the White House had said Trump would sign the legislation despite his misgivings. The government will shut down at 12:01 a.m. Saturday if Trump does not sign a funding bill into law. George Mason University will use a $5 million gift to its economics department to create three faculty positions, the school announced Thursday. The gift comes from the Charles Koch Foundation, which has given millions of dollars to colleges and universities across the country. The Koch family is known for its support of co...

The Debt, The Debt Ceiling, and Leveler Heads... Will they Prevail?

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Liberty -vs- Tyranny Fiscal conservatism is about a lot more than just cutting spending, reducing taxes, and passing a balanced budget amendment. Which, by all indications is where republicans in Congress presently find themselves. Fiscal conservatism is about maintaining control of spending while providing the revenue to fund the necessary functions of government. It is about acting responsibly so the government's fiscal house stays in order and solvent. Not unlike a well run business. The federal government has certain critical obligations that must be funded. Obligations such as national defense, maintaining a federal judiciary, insuring the strength of our national infra structure, maintaining our borders, maintaining the safety of our federal highways and bridges, maintaining diplomatic relations with foreign states, and yes, maintaining the social net known as social security and medicare...
