Hecklers at the Healthcare Town Hall Meetings

The gloves are off. Conservatives and moderates are attending town hall style meetings across the nation to express their concerns over the Obama socialized health care plan. As people have time to delve into the "guts" of this ill conceived and costly plan their concerns are growing.

The following text was taken off the web and is a statement by a government official; There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Excuse me for saying so but this is scary stuff. Essentially what the Government is asking the citizenry to do is "snitch" on fellow Americans who, because they have educated themselves, expressed deep concern with the President's plan. Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is Big Brother Government at its worst. The beauty in this plan for Obama and the socialist/Marxist's is to first divide our house against itself so it can conquer any opposition because in their minds the end justifies the Obama means.

Which brings me back to my initial opening. The health care town hall meetings have gotten raucous. Conservatives have attended the meetings in large numbers to express their grave concerns and demand straight answers from their elected officials. The reason some have gotten vocal and outspoken is because they believe their so called leaders haven't heard them. And to a large extent this is likely true. As evidenced by the Obama, Pelosi, Reid trio of "we know what's best for you, just ask us." mentality.

The hecklers and protesters have perhaps pumped up the volume beyond the point of civil discourse. If they have it is understandable why they feel it necessary. However, I for one do not support out of control heckling and protesting. Rather than getting the conservative argument heard and understood through rational debate it drowns out the valid concerns we have.

The Boston Globe did a full blown article in their August 6 edition which cast conservatives in a dim light. It would be a good idea if conservatives read the article titled 'Foes' decibel's replace debate on healthcare". We need to tone it down, keep the debate aggressive but respectful, and we will score more points. And in the final analysis isn't that the goal, to score big.

I can't, as much as I would like to, pass up this opportunity. I seem to remember during the era of the civil rights movement, the protests over the Vietnam war, and liberal social climate that enveloped the nation during those years a lot of protests. Protests spawned by the liberal progressive movement and they were pretty nasty at times. In fact a few became violent. So I find it interesting that the very media that supported their agenda and right to heckle and protest are taken aback when the conservatives get even mildly agitated, but lets leave that for another day.

So in summary, we have conservatives exercising their civil liberties, the government media complex doing it's best to form and channel the debate, and a government that sees no problem in asking Americans to "snitch" on other Americans for disagreeing with the government. I don't know about you, but the greater more ominous issue here is the flag@whitehouse.gov effort.

As a true independent conservative, I encourage each of us to get active in his or her own best way. But in doing so lets keep it focused on the issues, rational, and above all civil and respectful. If we do we have a great chance at stemming the tide of socialist Stalinist style health care.
