Banking Financial Reform—Is More Bureaucracy The Answer?

Image
by: Pamela D. Hart As we know our Financial System took a major hit at the end of 2008. Let’s take a little look see at how this played out, shall we… The Community Reinvestment Act is a federal law that was passed in 1977 to “encourage” banks and savings associations “to meet the needs of borrowers in ALL segments of their communities, [emphasis mine] which included low and moderate-income neighborhoods”. Congress felt this law needed to be passed in order to prevent discrimination against low-income and minority borrowers. There were legislative changes made to the CRA over the years, but the most pertinent one, in my opinion, was the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992, which required Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to devote a percentage of their lending to support affordable housing. Basically this Act instructed Freddie and Fannie to divide its business into three categories: low and moderate-income, underserved, and special affordable. The goa...

Does The Choice Of Parties Really Make A Difference?

By: Les Carpenter  Rational Nation USA Today is Monday April 19th and the start of a new week with all the promise, and disappointment it brings with it. The biggest disappointment of course is the American inability to find  common ground from which to solve the problems of We The People. I am an avowed independent  conservative and believe in the ideals expressed in the Jeffersonian field of political thought... IE: limited federal government, strict adherence to the constitution,  and the sovereign  rights of the several individual states. To this end I will argue the merits and rational premise on which Jefferson based his beliefs and arguments. I freely acknowledge that Jefferson was, in an historical reference, a liberal. In my view he was in fact a radical in that he believed in the supremacy of the individual and...

Monetary Policy and The Truth

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation  USA   America has listened to, and for the most part accepted a line of self serving political and financial market BS for far to long. One of the few politicians and government leaders that are telling the people the truth is Congressman Ron Paul. An honest politician with ethical and moral standards he is one of the few telling America the truth about our nations financial future.  His book, " The Revolution, A Manifesto " explains in graphic detail the danger America faces if it does not change its past and current policies. If you care about our nations future, please take the time to familiarize yourself with basic capitalist economic principals in general (if you do not already know the basics) and Ron Paul in particular. His vision for America is the right one at this point in our history. Thank you.

The Real America... As Viewed By A Real American

Image
By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation  USA As is becoming my practice more each week I, and my lovely misses spent a most enjoyable weekend with our eighteen month old grandson. This weekend was sure as hell a damn site more enjoyable than the usual political focus and babble I have devoted my time to for the last nine months. I mean listening to the usual political babble from the far left socialist statist proponents, and the far right fascist statist proponents is becoming just plain BORING , and all to predictable. When one looks at the really important issues in life, with an open mind,  it becomes increasingly clear that  family and loved ones are far and away the most important issues of the day. As I and the misses observed our grandsons behavior over the last several weeks we know that his liberal parents are doing a fine job of raising him up to be a respectful and well behaved individual. As my wonderful daughter-...
