NJ Governor Chris Christie

Governor Christie has it right. There is little doubt but what Newt Gingrich is an embarrassment to his party. Given his past ethical violations and that he was essentially run out of his speaker ship by his own party it is reasonable to question his judgement. Past errors in judgement of the magnitude of Mr. Gingrich's should give every concerned citizen pause. Why, you may ask, given he has said he has changed. The reason is because past errors in judgement often predict future mistaken judgement. Or put another way, a leopard cannot change it's spots as my former, and very wise boss used to say.

Now for what Governor Christie had to say. From The Hill.

Romney surrogate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called Newt Gingrich an embarrassment to the Republican Party on Sunday, one day after the former House Speaker rode a late surge to victory in the South Carolina primary.

"I think Newt Gingrich has embarrassed the party, over time," Christie (R), who has endorsed Romney, said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "Gov. Romney never has."

When pressed on how Gingrich had embarrassed the Republican party, Christie mentioned said that Gingrich had been pressured to resign from the House of Representatives in 1998 and had been fined for House ethics violations.

"We all know the record," Christie added. "I mean he was run out of the speakership by his own party, he was fined $300,000 for ethics violations. This is a guy that's had a very difficult career at times and has been an embarrassment to the party."

Christie suggested the former House speaker's record could predict what he would be like as president. {Read More}

Given that Gingrich is leading is leading in early polling in Florida it is critically important that conservative activists and those who lean republican heed Governor Christie's words.

Newt Gingrich has a clear record, and it not one of a principled limited government conservative and constitutional candidate that he would have voters believe he is.

Of course there is more, and in the interest of education following is a few more links to check out and decide for yourself if Gingrich is deserving of the support of conservatives or Libertarian leaning individuals.

For those who want more reasons to be suspicious of, and ultimately withhold their support (and vote) for Mr. Gingrich it is easily found during an afternoon session Goggling the Chameleons record. Both professionally and personally.

  1. This is what the right wing populist movement has produced. We had Bachmann, and Cain, and Trump, and Perry - a parade of goofball incompetents - all foisted by the far right of the party. Gingrich rose out of the ashes of the those failed attempts, and now the populists are crying foul. Well, do you like right wing activist judges declaring corporations are human beings and speech is money? Do you see that people who espouse far right philosophies are de facto retarded?

I know, Les, you are not really a conservative or a Tea Partier, and that you have come around on Citizens United, but you libertarians are just as much to blame for all this. Look at yourselves - then you'll see where Gingrich came from.

  2. What, Mr. Christie, have you done to expose the massive fraud by Obama and the elected in Washington...regarding Article 1, Section 2 requirement that Obama be born to TWO American citizens?

    What?

  3. His lack of judgment and stability are borderline Nixonian.......And, yet, he does seem to be getting some traction, doesn't he?

He just won a primary. There is doubt. As spoken by Republican voters.

  5. The democrat party produced Barack Obama, and unaccomplished incompetent empty suit, so Jersey doesn't have room to talk.

The whole GOP field is a joke. I'm seriously thinking of voting for Gary Johnson, although I think his drug proposals are naive. If you're interested Les, I have a post about him today...

    "... unaccomplished incompetent empty suit,..."

    Really?

Becoming President of USA seems to be somewhat of an accomplishment. Getting the health care bill passed and ending a war in Iraq along with saving the automobile industry in USA does show a high level of competency in governing.

Given what the RepublicanT Party is belching up, the people will probably re-elect Mr Obama.

Getting Obama's attempt to destroy healthcare passed is not anything to be proud of. As for ending the war in Iraq, he merely followed Bush's plans. He did not save the auto industry. Without his bailouts, the companies would have filed for conventional bankruptcy and survived. All without Obama's risky and wasteful handouts-to-corporations.

"Given what the RepublicanT Party is belching up"

Well, one thing they are belching up is the idea of ending Obama's attempt to destroy healthcare with its wildly unpopular provision of forcing families to buy health insurance plans they don't need. That's a great start, and there are many other good ideas they have. Generally, they act in the public interest. Something Obama does only rarely.
