Obama ain't no Abe Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln, a beacon of United States government statism, can not be considered an independent conservatives best ally in most cases. At least not if you believe in a limited federal government , Jeffersonian and Randian principles, and the right of self determination as it relates to the sovereign rights of individual states.

That aside, when a statist is right they are right. The following, again given me by a faithful Rational Nation USA reader and attributed to Abraham Lincoln, is worth posting. The principles stated by Lincoln were correct then and they remain correct today.

What is indeed unfortunate is our Impostor in Chief, while going out of his way to align himself with "Good Ole Abe" seems to have forgotten the following.

Obama wishes to portray himself as the modern day Abe Lincoln.

SO WHY DOESN'T OBAMA USE THIS FAMOUS LINCOLN QUOTE:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.

You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.  Abraham Lincoln

Obama you ain't Abe Lincoln.

For those who study history -- you recall that despite Obama's continuous attempts to quote Lincoln as a Democrat . . . President Lincoln was a Republican President!

And so I leave it to you, the individual, to decide.

  1. Have you ever wondered why, when the current Republican Party was founded as an anti-slavery party, and most of the slave-holders were Democrats, that 95% of registered blacks are DEMOCRATS?

  2. Gorges,

"I'll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years." -- Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One according Ronald Kessler's Book, "Inside The White House"

I have often wondered that very same thing myself. Perhaps it is some kind of version of The Stockholm Syndrome?
