Bill Maher, Gettin Jiggy...

Image
by: ;Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Classless... Clueless Ah yes, the ideology of tolerance and understanding. Brought to you by the proponents of the if it feels good anything goes irrational mindset. Until of course a view that runs contrary to their anti conceptual philosophy is on the table. Then you get the following: Bill Maher on Monday called the GOP the “Party of the Apes” and ripped Republicans for not repudiating Rep. Allen West — who, the comedian suggested, should be taken to a mental hospital. “[T]he idea that the blame for our government’s dysfunction is equally shared by the parties just is a giant, steaming mound of horsesh*t and anyone who has paid attention to politics over the last 20 years knows it. Or as I like to call it, ‘The Rise of the Party of the Apes,’” the host of HBO’s “Real Time” wrote on his blog . Typical leftist intolerance for viewpoints they disagree with... Personified and supported of course by the anti coneptu...

Mitt Romney Promising Increase in Defense Spending in a Romney Administration...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny 50 years after President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered his farewell address, newly discovered documents show that the speech was nearly two years in the making. The family of Eisenhower speechwriter Malcolm Moos discovered the documents in a family cabin and donated them to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. The papers show that Eisenhower was deeply involved in crafting one of the most famous speeches in American history in which he warned the nation of the growing power of the "military-industrial complex." Presidential historian (and Foundation for the National Archives board member) Michael Beschloss and Eisenhower Library director Karl Weissenbach discuss the evolution of the speech. And in the fifty first year following President Eisenhower's historic speech the Military Industrial Complex continues to grow. In the never ending cycle of perpetuating the myth that unless we continue to...

Romney Touring Battleground States... Typical Boilerplate Rhetoric

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Republican Presidential candidate and presumptive nominee Mitt Romney is touring battleground states to get his "supposedly" conservative message out. Given his record as a one term Governor of Massachusetts (he opted not to run for a second term) who increased fees so as not to call them taxes, and his legacy RomneyCare it has me scratching my head. About the conservative message thingy anyway. Romney's record has been distorted by both   liberal progressives and conservatives. In reality Romney's record is a mixed bag, and it is true he has been known to "evolve" his position.  More on Mitt's record from the perspective of the business community . Romney, like all politicians is using his tour to preach to the choir and hope his message resonates and sticks to many still on the fence, thus pushing them into his column. While Romney may very well be the more qualified individual to sit...

Tomatoes, a Christain Fruit Forbidden to Muslims...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny (Photo via Facebook.com) You just can't make this stuff up. It is interestingly hilarious because when it comes to religious zealots of any particular faith the idiocy is almost universal. Lebanon news - This makes perfect sense... because it makes no sense. A Salafist group called the Popular Egyptian Islamic Association has come under fire after sending out a warning on Facebook urging its followers not to eat tomatoes because the vegetable ( or fruit ) is a Christian food. The group posted a photo on its page of a tomato - which appears to reveal the shape of a cross after being cut in half – along with the message: “Eating tomatoes is forbidden because they are Christian. [The tomato] praises the cross instead of Allah and says that Allah is three (a reference to the Trinity). [God help us]. I implore you to spread this photo because there is a sister from Palestine who saw the prophet of Allah [Moha...

Mitt Romney... President has Unilateral Power to Act Militarily

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Fast forward to the 12 minute 17 second marker on the video and hear what presidential candidate Mitt Romney had to say to Bob Schieffer on how he believes the President has the power to act unilaterally with respect to military action, specifically (in this case) Iran. Possibly another cowboy (GWB)? So much for the Constitution and or the War Powers Resolution of 1973. This Romney dude could turn out to be a real loose cannon. Face the Nation - SCHIEFFER : Let me turn to foreign policy. Bill Kristol, writing in the Weekly Standard this week, says we are reaching the time of consequence in our dealing with Iran on nuclear weapons. He says it is time for the President to go to the Congress and say, “I want you to authorize me to be able to use military force” if that becomes necessary. And he says if the President is not willing to do that, then the Congress should do it themselves. What's your take on that? R...

Munro is No Donaldson...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Tucker Carlson comparing reporter Neil Munro's rude and disrespectful interruption of President Obama during the President's prepared remarks to Sam Donaldson's reporting during the Reagan years is ludicrous. I am certainly old enough to remember Donaldson, who I don't particularity like, from the perspective of an adult during the 1980's. Donaldson always asked tough questions, was often relentless, but he was never disrespectful nor broke from proper decorum as a White House press correspondent. Donaldson had the following to say in response to Carlson's likening Monro's behavior to his own. Never once did I interrupt a president in any way while he was making a formal statement, a speech, honoring awardees or in any other way holding the floor. Yes, almost always when he was finished in the Rose Garden or in the Briefing Room or at a photo opportunity with other world leaders I tried t...
