THE Speech... Then a Quick Fact Check

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty - vs - Tyra nny I guess if the President inculcates {you should pass it right away}he really thinks people will believe his words. Words that are based on flim-flam accounting and pie in the sky hope. The POTUS is likely betting his speech will energize his progressive base and soothe concerns of moderates. Thus insuring his reelection. For those who missed the speech. As pointed out above the Potus has based his mirage on flimsy and questionable assumptions, and those who will pay the cost of his jobs bill will be those who come after. WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's promise Thursday that everything in his jobs plan will be paid for rests on highly iffy propositions. It will only be paid for if a committee he can't control does his bidding, if Congress puts that into law and if leaders in the future - the ones who will feel the fiscal pinch of his proposals - do...

Obama To Get No Rebuttal... For Good Reason

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny The POTUS Engaged in Lecturing  Republicans have decided there is to be no rebuttal to this weeks jobs speech by the President. This move is already being criticized by Nancy Pelosi. It will likely be criticized by other progressives, and possibly the lame stream media as well. FOX NEWS - Republicans have decided they're not going to give a rebuttal to President Obama's jobs speech later this week, a decision House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi took as a high affront to the White House. At least three GOP lawmakers also have announced they're not going to show up for the presidential address. House Speaker John Boehner's office then confirmed Tuesday evening that nobody from the party would deliver an official televised response. Pelosi said the party's "silence" would "speak volumes about their lack of commitment to creating jobs....

Bachmann Correctly Citing Constitutional Limitations

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservationism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny This site has never been a Michelle Bachmann fan. Nor has it advocated for her entrance onto the national political stage. Maybe it is because at some level she is looney, or maybe it is that she is not well represented by her handlers. For the purpose of this post the particulars don't really matter. In response to Jim DeMint's Forum recently her answers were, in large share, both rational and constitutionally sound. The Video : The CNN article" ( CNN ) - Painting herself as a "constitutional conservative" Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann told Sen. Jim DeMint's forum Monday that if elected president she would look to get rid of the Department of Education, among other things. "Because the Constitution does not specifically enumerate nor does it give to the federal government the role and duty to superintend over education that histori...

A Vote for Perry Insures the Status Quo...

Image
by Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny If the Iowa Caucus turns out to be the predictor of who the republican nominee will be in 2012 little of significance will change. Republicans will essentially offer up a "red" statist who loves power, big brother government, and offering yet a bigger teat to suckle on. There is essentially no difference between a democratic teat and a republican teat. Rather it is six of one and a half dozen of the other. Confirming a surge seen in polling across the nation, Texas Governor Rick Perry has moved into first place among Republican voters in Iowa, host state to the first-in-the-nation caucus early next year. A Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of those likely to participate in the Iowa GOP Caucus shows that Perry is the first choice for 29%. Essentially tied for second are Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at 18% and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 1...

Google and It's Blind Eye or Hidden Agenda

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny While Rational Nation USA appreciates the free blogging format Google offers, as no doubt millions of other bloggers do as well, I must say it is irritating to say he least that Google plasters "Obama 2012" advertisements all over this conservative/libertarian sight. Not that I am questioning their right to do so. After all I gain the benefits of a cost free platform to voice rational conservative/libertarian opinions on. So, all things considered I suppose this is a fair and equitable exchange. Nonetheless, this site feels the definite necessity to clearly and explicitly state... This site does not now, nor as it ever, supported the political philosophy, policies, or collectivist views of the current occupant of The White House. nor will it ever.

Scratching My Head... Will Repubs and Conservatives Ever Really Get It?

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny Rick Perry. The man with little to no integrity or substance. Rational Nation USA previously did an extensive post on the gadfly of statist and old boy network republican politics . I stand by that post. Following is a post from fellow Massachusetts resident who has a decidedly different view from the one held by  this site. One I might add that definitely has the hue of a rose colored statist perspective. But enough of that. Here is the jaded view of Mr. Polish... Speaking to hundreds of Granite State voters at a private reception, the Texas governor was asked whether he supported a fence along the Mexican border. “No, I don’t support a fence on the border,” he said. “The fact is, it’s 1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso. Two things: How long you think it would take to build that? And then if you build a 30-foot wall from El Paso to Brownsville, the 35-foot ladder...

Truth as Seen From a Historical and Rational Perspective

from the desk of Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny The following, brought to you from the inbox at Rational Nation USA has not been verified as to historical accuracy nor whether the authorship of the piece has been properly acknowledged. This due to the extreme lack of available time to do so. Nonetheless, it bears publishing because its inherent truth can readily be seen in in the actualities of history. Especially western history throughout the last millennium. Obituary-Very Interesting: In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From t...

Ain't It The Truth?

from the desk of Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Libe rty -vs- Tyra n ny From the inbox of Rational Nation USA . Once again we thank a memeber of our loyal readership for their insight and humor. President Obama walks into the Bank of America to cash a check. As he approaches the cashier he says, "Good morning, Ma'am, could you please cash this check for me?" Cashier: "It would be my pleasure, sir. Could you please show me your ID?" Obama: "Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn't think there was any need to. I am President Barrack H. Obama, president of the United States of America." Cashier: "Yes, sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of imposters and forgers, etc., I must insist on seeing ID." Obama: "Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am." Cas...
