Shared Scarcity versus Renewed Prosperity

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Sen. Scott Brown has announced his intention to support Paul Ryan's budget plan . This comes as a surprise as Sen. Brown is a moderate to liberal republican from  Massachusetts, one of the nations most liberal states. I'm content to chalk it up to the Senator finally coming to his senses. On to the real point of today's post. Rep. Paul Ryan, Chairman of the House Budget Committee delivered a speech to the Economic Club of Chicago highlighting the very real {and serious} fiscal issues facing America today. In a most compelling way Ryan drew the contrast between the progressives {democratic party} vision of shared scarcity and the vision of renewed prosperity shared by the more fiscally responsible conservatives. Rep. Ryan's speech for the most part will be overlooked by the liberal government/media complex. His speech will be greatly maligned by the progressive/collectivist sites that p...

Ron Paul on Fox News Sunday May 15, 2011

by the Left Coast Rebel If one wants to catch a glimpse inside the House that Paul Built that explains the dynamics behind his incredible level of enthusiastic support (especially among the youth), look no further than Dr. No's appearance on Fox News Sunday yesterday with Chris Wallace. In an interview ranging from the IMF's totalitarian global finance schemes, American sovereignty, basic constitutional principles, what he would do as president (1:30 on the dial), moral hazard, original intent, the upcoming financial crisis....Ron Paul hits the ball out of the park on each and every issue. Watch it : Paul also clarifies his Osama bin Laden kill mission stance later in the video (8:30), which stirred controversy last week. Cross posted to LC R .

Boeing CEO and President Jim McNerney Throws the Gauntlet Down on Washington's Assault on Capitalism

Image
Image: Boeing 787 Dreamliner by the Left Coast Rebel It's about time that captains of industry stand up and says 'hell no!' to the central planners in DC. Lockstep in unison with myriad cabals of unions, looters in Washington pose the greatest threat to our freedoms, free market and up-until-now vastly superior way of life that this nation has ever seen. Jim McNerney, chairman, president and CEO of the Boeing Co, tells the story of union thuggishness and what it means for our competitiveness and future; saying what needs to be said in today's Wall Street Journal : Deep into the recent recession, Boeing decided to invest more than $1 billion in a new factory in South Carolina. Surging global demand for our innovative, new 787 Dreamliner exceeded what we could build on one production line and we needed to open another. This was good news for Boeing and for the economy. The new jetliner assembly plant would be the first one built in the U.S. in 40 years. I...

Gas Prices and Democratic Party Hypocrisy

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Does anyone else find the Obama administration lacking in integrity? And remember, the high price of fuel is driving up the cost of everything else as well. I Wonder how the President will spin the inflation issue.

Jack Hunter asks, "who's a republican?"

by the Left Coast Rebel I still have a headache from my previous post about big-government charlatan Newt Gingrich but this Jack Hunter video just may be the ideal palate cleanser. Hunter simply asks, "who's a republican?" Look, I'm not as anti-war as Jack Hunter and Ron Paul (Congressman Paul's stance against the Osama bin Laden kill mission, for instance, is plain nuts). Regardless, they both make good points though on the runaway, interventionist nature of our country's foreign policy. However, on the issue of constitutional government, spending and the blurred delineation between the two parties (on socialism, spending, ruling-class tyranny, et al.), Congressman Paul's bona fides are without equal. On Islamo-fascism, I find myself in between libertarians and strong defense, Goldwater conservatives . I want a strong defense but am leery of the neoconservative stance . When we are engaged in a war, I want a formal congressional declaration of war ( Ar...

Israel Again Under Attack by Arabs Bent on Her Destruction

Protesters climbed over the border fence as they crossed from Syria into the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Sunday by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Do we need more proof the Muslim world's goal is indeed the destruction of the democratic state of Israel? A nation with by far superior ethical and moral values than the wretched ideology of radical Islam. Excerpts from The New York Times JERUSALEM — Israel’s borders erupted in deadly clashes on Sunday as thousands of Palestinians — marching from Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank — confronted Israeli troops to mark the anniversary of Israel’s creation. More than a dozen people were reported killed and scores injured. With an unprecedented wave of coordinated protests, the popular uprisings that have swept the region touched Israel directly for the first time. Like those other protests, plans for this one spread over social media, including Facebook, but there were al...

Playing With Marbles

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism This just in. An e-mail from a regular RN USA reader. I can think of no better way to wrap up the week. AN INTERESTING OBSERVATION:   1. The sport of choice for the urban poor is BASKETBALL.  2 - The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is BOWLING.  3 - The sport of choice for front-line workers is FOOTBALL.  4 - The sport of choice for supervisors is BASEBALL.  5 - The sport of choice for middle management is TENNIS. And,  6 - The sport of choice for corporate executives and officers is GOLF.  THE AMAZING CONCLUSION:   The higher you go in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become. There must be a ton of people in Washington playing marbles! When you're playing marbles you need at least one boulder. Unfortunately DC has no boulder. Have a great week ahead everyone!

The Truth About the State of America

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Yup, have known it for quite some time. Progressives are doing their best to cover the facts over with their usual touchy feel good good hot air spin. Here are the straight facts on the state of America under the Obama night. From EconomicPolicyJournal John Williams, over at Shadow Stats, compiles economic data for inflation and unemployment the way it used to be calculated pre-1990. Based on that data, the CPI inflation rate is over 10%, and the unemployment rate is over 15% (see charts). The Misery Index is the sum of the current inflation rate and the unemployment rate. If it were to be calculated using the older methods, the Index would now be over 25, a record high. It surpasses the old index high of 21.98, which occurred in June 1980, when Jimmy Carter was president. Most believe the height of the Index along with the Iranian hostage crisis is what caused Carter to lose his re-election bid. T...
