Big News Today: Democrat-Socialists Drop Cap and Trade, Charlie Rangel Found Guilty of Ethics Violations

by the Left Coast Rebel And why is no one talking about either of these things? The War Planner gives us a clue, (her name is media-saturated Shirley): I mean, the woman has been reviled, revered, fired, re-hired, excoriated, gotten her obligatory interview on left-leaning media, called for Breitbart to be shut down, called FNS biased and racist, gotten her call from The Pantload.. ..is there anything left to be done? I'm thinking speechifyin' in front of a joint-session of congress and maybe convening the U.N. General Assembly? Spare me. Let's move on; I have Sherrod fatigue. ..unless, of course, we launch into some other aspect of this sorry episode of peristaltic gesticulations by the White House or some background investigation turning up the fact that she barbecues and serves Pomeranians at her weekend get-togethers. Does anyone here know what a Pomeranian is? If not : Awesome - oh the thought! Anyway the good news today that is all-but-forgotten is that, #1, the Dem...

A Vision Of What Could Be

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA The progressive collectivists and the neocons who sell the idea of sacrifice and anti morality would do well to consider the content of the following video. During these times of economic crises, growing civil unrest and racial tension, all fueled by the progressive collectivist credo the time for the individual to stand and take action of their own rational mind, and on their own behalf,  has arrived. The thoughts of  living beneath the tyrannical boots of a government that preachers sacrifice for the benefit of the collective good is repulsive to any man or women who value their freedom. The video is a warning.

Congress Approval Rating Nearing Single Digit

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA Congress has reached it's lowest approval ratings since 1973. Gallup's 2010 Confidence in Institutions survey has Congress ranked at dead last with a 11% approval rating. In other words only a mere 11% of Americans have a a strong feeling of confidence in the institution that is supposed to represent their interests. The poll, taken between July 8th and July 11th, shows a 6% drop in approval since 2009 when it stood at 17%. Fully 50% of Americans say the have "very little" or no confidence in Congress, up 12% from 2009. In addition confidence in the Presidency has fallen a full 15 percentage points to 36% since June 2009. President Barrack Hussein Obama's ratings have fallen a full 11 percentage points to 47?% during the same period. These numbers indicate a nation that has reached a level of complete dissatisfaction with it's elected officials. Congress can be trusted to do the right thing about ...

(Shirley Sherrod Story Palate Cleanser) - Resurgent Libertarian Ideals: What does it mean?

Image
Can you spot the message in the Jefferson disk above? Picture taken at the Monticello, Virginia museum. by the Left Coast Rebel Can I speak for myself? I hailed in my youth from distinctly dark red lenses (as in the traditional rah-rah red/blue political identity). Yet somewhere in between my growth in thought and ideas I found the philosophy of Ayn Rand . And much like Les Carpenter over at Rational Nation , she changed my perspective - even though much of the Objectivist train of thought was already 'hardwired' inside my mind. My perspective has changed and evolved from there but a stubborn libertarian streak remains, as it probably always will. And I'm not a card-carrying member as many in the movement push (in my eyes) what is a rigid, stiff way of looking at things. And that I find off-putting. For instance, I could care less about the de-criminalization of pot, while our nation is in the midst of the greatest freedom-grab in perhaps our history. And it's not t...

Shirley Sherrod... A Teachable Moment

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA Yesterday the news media and the blogoshere went wild chasing the Shirley Sherrod (racism) story...  After Andrew Breitbart  released an approximately  two minute cut from USDA's Sherrod's forty six minute address to the NAACP. Initial reaction was of course negative and in fact lead to Sherrod s firing. When it first broke yesterday I was inclined to jump on the story as I believed it would be a hot topic and initially thought "getting my two cents worth in early" would be desirable. However, my better judgement told me to hold back. My sense was there was more to the story than Breitbart had originally put out. My thoughts at the time... it only stands to reason a two minute cut from a longer address may very well not be representative of the full content of the address. Everyone is aware of the 'thirty' sound bite right? To my mind that is what I thought the Breitbart'...

The Roots of Progressivism

Image
You can’t argue against it if you don’t understand it... Michael Barone , America’ preeminent political scholar, explores the roots of progressivism, that un-American and statist doctrine spawned at the dawn of the 20th century. Progressivism’s Premise The Progressives explicitly repudiated the Founders’ vision of limited government. They argued that government needed to redistribute property, to take money from one group of citizens to help others, and to regulate economic activity in ways previously considered unconstitutional. More importantly, says Barone, “They feared revolution.”   Even “good” countries experienced such upheavals back in the late 1800’s.  People of the early 1900’s looked up to central-planning strong men as the wave of the future, if not out of fear of central-planning communists.  You see, fascism, communism and progressivism were not opposing ideologies, they were competing for the support of the same group of people! The...

Our government doesn't know what it's doing, but it keeps doing it anyway... Here’s a bit of wisdom from that infamous economy wrecker, Senator Chris Dodd (D-Wall Street), upon passage of the Banking “Reform” Bill: "It will take the next economic crisis, as certainly it will come, to determine whether or not the provisions of this bill will actually provide this generation or the next generation of regulators with the tools necessary to minimize the effects of that crisis." ( Fox News ) Reminds me of Pelosi saying we’d have to pass health care so we can see what’s in it.  So they create hundreds of thousands of pages of red tape and tens of thousand of new bureaucratic overlords, and they don’t even know if it will work or not.   It wouldn’t be so bad if they were they were funding this progressive alchemy with their own money, on their own progressive commune out of sight of decent society... Question: If this fixes “Too Big To Fail,” why do...

Shirley Sherrod: "Fox News and Tea Parties Scaring Obama Administration"

Image
by the Left Coast Rebel There's almost too much to chase in the news cycle today but just moments ago I caught some more information on the Shirley Sherrod controversy on Fox's "America Live" with Megyn Kelly. Megyn Kelly was speaking to Fox reporter James Rosen about the Shirley Sherrod video that went viral yesterday. Shirley Sherrod is claiming that the viral video was taken out of context and that she is a victim of a sort-of right wing conspiracy. She's claiming she felt 'harassed' by the Deputy Undersecretary of Agriculture that allegedly called Shirley Sherrod three times yesterday demanding that she resign. She says that her superior claimed that she should resign because, "she was going to be on Glenn Beck tonight." Shirley Sherrod is also claiming that the White House was behind the call for her prompt firing and that the NAACP and White House are ' throwing her under the bus .' But the most interesting quote from Shirley Sherro...
