Of course they refused to cut spending. Typical for the most selfish generation ever in America. I have voted Democratic, who at least were realistic enough to tell Americans taxes would have to be raised to meet spending. Mondale was right. However, increasing corporate tax revenue and increasing tax revenue on the wealthy will. In so long as the government controls wasteful spending and corruption that seems to be inherent in our system these days.Les Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01120280762698472496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-54097730829128855432018-12-07T15:34:08.941-05:002018-12-07T15:34:08.941-05:00So, you must be a GenX or some post baby boom gene...So, you must be a GenX or some post baby boom generation. We have basically one source, repeated across multiple platforms under the "X is reporting" method of journalism.

What is fair is to note that the policies he, and the GOP are advocating, essentially that economic growth will take us out of a debtor situation, with also employing tax increases and spending cuts, will not, and have never worked.

A look at what GHW Bush did in the 90's is a good barometer. He passed, with Democratic votes, a tax increase that cost him his presidency. That tax increase, coupled with some spending restraints, also brought our budget into balance and led to an economic boon. It wasn't economic growth fueled by tax cuts that made that possible at all. it was good sound economic strategy, something in short supply since 2000. They have been voting for the "NO New Tax" ideology for decades. They have convinced America that Communal Taxation is an evil idea, even though it is the idea that helped build the greatest nation on Earth. It is totally irresponsible for one selfish generation to leave future Americans bankrupt and so few options to fix the problems of America this generation has left them.
