    The NYPD turning it back on Mayor de Blasio as he enters a press conference on the revenge killings?

    Despite what these police organizations and their allies allege, there isn’t an anti-police movement in this country, or at least, none of any significance. The people demonstrating for justice for Eric Garner and Michael Brown aren’t against police, they are for better _policing_.

    The people protesting- want departments to treat their communities with respect, and they want accountability for officers who kill their neighbors without justification.

    When criminals kill law-abiding citizens, they’re punished. When criminals kill cops, they’re punished. But when cops kill citizens, the system breaks down and no one is held accountable. That is what people are protesting. …

    Claiming the New York City protests as “anti-police marches,” is grossly inaccurate and illustrates the problem of perception the protestors are battling. The marches are meant to raise awareness of double standards, lack of adequate police candidate screening, and insufficient training that have resulted in unnecessary killings.

    Police are not under attack, institutionalized racism is. Trying to remove sexually abusive priests is not an attack on Catholicism, nor is removing ineffective teachers an attack on education. Bad apples, bad training, and bad officials who blindly protect them, are the enemy. _And_any_institution_worth_saving_should_want_to_eliminate_them_, too.”

    When a PD serves itself first and foremost, it soon becomes clear. It does not favor rule of law. Just rule of force. The police who turned their back should resign. They serve the Mayor and the people; as police personnel they cannot be trusted!

      Yet there is no evidence of racism by the officers involved in either of the two incidents the protesters cite.

      One Ema point disproven.

      The racist protest movement even is rife with slogans against the police in general. It is very " anti cop". Another point disproven.

      Finally, this racist protest movement doesn't oppose "double standard". It's message is all double standards: these nasty bigots are silent when blacks kill whites. To them, the statement " black lives matter" is a celebration of supremacy... about the only lives that matter to them.

    The police turned their backs on the mayor as a sign if disrespect for his leadership. Perhaps they should have rioted and looted city hall as the "protesters" did in Ferguson?

    When did it become not acceptable for civil servants to peacefully protest the leadership of one they see as incompetent in their job and a force driving division?

    The right of peaceful protest cuts both ways Ems, like it or not. Continue reading the follow up post. It might clear things up a bit. If not consider our mild differences to be "it is what it is".

      Not to those who have sworn an oath to serve! In police line of work, discipline and loyalty are absolute! The police personnel's action is subversive to proper higher authority bordering on insurrection.

      Is it any wonder why local communities have issues with the police forces in their neighborhoods?

      Does Rational Nation USA trust the armed police to follow orders after their acts of insubordination?

    Yes I do Ema, you see I (Les) know the officers will continue to follow the directives their Chief gives them. They will continue to protect the public, bussnesses, and keep law and order in their communities to the best of their ability or to the degree people allow them to.

    You have made your point, and rather one sided it seems. I understand your point and in fact have argued the same; more than once. However, reason on all sides must overcome emotion if we are to solve the problem.
