Christina Romer: We/Obama don't know what we are doing, wasted your money.....

Image
by the Left Coast Rebel ...at least that is what I have gleaned from the trending story about Christina Romer's exit stage left to the National Press Club last night. Christina Romer was the chair of White House Council of Economic Advisers. Dana Milbank, WaPo : It wasn't the food; it was the entertainment. Christina Romer , chairman of President Obama 's Council of Economic Advisers , was giving what was billed as her "valedictory" before she returns to teach at Berkeley, and she used the swan song to establish four points, each more unnerving than the last: She had no idea how bad the economic collapse would be. She still doesn't understand exactly why it was so bad. The response to the collapse was inadequate. And she doesn't have much of an idea about how to fix things. What she did have was a binder full of scary descriptions and warnings, offered with a perma-smile and singsong delivery: "Terrible recession. . . . Incredibly searing...

The Meme Is Wrong Again

By: Bastiatarian A man apparently holding a gun and equipped with a bomb has taken hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland . In typical fashion, the loopy left has marched out the old, empty meme. Here is a small sampling of some of their comments. Probably upset about obama-care. Must be an old white guy that loves God & Guns and is a Tea party member, Probably a right wing religious fruit loop   Thank you Glenn Beck! This is one of your students It’s probably just another GOP die-hard determined to control what the media can say. Actually, it's environmentalist wacko (sorry for the redundancy there) James Jay Lee. Not surprisingly for the environmentalist crowd, Lee is decidedly anti-human, and is known for speaking out against "the birth of any more parasitic human infants." Recently, every time there is a terrorist attack/attempt or a kook takes hostages, the American left (aided of course by the fifth column o...

An Independent Conservative's View of Gay Marriage

Image
I am quite pleased today. I had determined some time back, when California's Prop 8 again placed the issue of same sex marriage forefront on the American stage of morality, to pen an article on the issue. The article was to be a view from an independent conservative. I decided after several hours of work to submit it to The Daily Caller. Yesterday afternoon they notified me they were publishing my op-ed article. My first.  In what I suppose is an act of self promotion I bring my article to the pages of  Rational Nation  USA .  Excerpt: California’s Proposition 8 has once again brought the issue of  gay  marriage  onto the national stage.  It is likely headed to the Supreme Court, which, to me, seems crazy. After all, why should it take the High Court to decide an issue that the government should not be concerned with in the first place? Intolerance is often on display on both sides of the ideologic...

Liberals Do Not Understand America

How to think like a liberal--Follow the staggering steps Unwashed progressivel Michael Tomasky demonstrates what is wrong with statist liberalism.  He describes a dinner party he attended where they engaged in a discussion of communities and the role of government in them: Then a woman I didn't know spoke up. She was southern. She was very friendly and chatty. She said she was all for beloved communities. But what was clear to her, the really important point, was that in the good old days, those communities had nothing to do with government. And when we started thinking it did was when it all went wrong. It was a small group, so I was polite and didn't say anything, but what I thought was: you idiotic, irresponsible, egotistical cretin. Nothing to do with government? Let's go ask the black people of your age cohort and home town whether they felt part of a beloved community, and let's ask them whether they think government had anything to do with the c...
