Notice that they did NOT ask "do you support the Black Lives Matter movement". I suspect there would have been a lot of overlap. The two aren't mutually exclusive. It's an effort to shut down the Black Lives Matter movement brought to us courtesy of white racists who support the status quo... which is country where a Black person is 300 percent more likely to be killed by the police than a white person.

Rasmussen asked a leading question and got the response they were looking for. Notice that they did not ask respondents if they also support the BLM movement. I strongly suspect that, if they had, they would have found a lot of overlap and that the result wouldn't (seemingly) be that 69 percent of African Americans disagree with "black lives matter". The two aren't mutually exclusive. Which is why I believe that the 31 percent of African Americans who said "Black lives matter" is is closest to their own views weren't fooled by Rasmussen's leading question.

I know I wasn't. Although the statement "all lives matter" is closest to my own views, I would have answered "black lives matter" was... because I would have refused to allow Rasmussen to manipulate me into giving an answer designed to discredit the BLM movement.

Glenn Beck just held an "all lives matter march" of 20k people in Alabama. Obviously he too thinks shutting down the BLM movement with the White/racist and/or clueless counter-slogan "all lives matter" is "beautiful".

BTW, I am NOT saying that "all lives matter" is racist. What's racist is when people use "all lives matter" in an attempt to shut down the BLM movement. The Rightwing-o-sphere is going crazy in response to the Rasmussen survey. From Beck to Breitbart, they are all quoting it... and using it to shut down the BLM movement and say it's "racist" because BLM is saying ONLY black lives matter (which THEY ARE NOT).

So, in regards to Jersey saying "You guys are just utterly clueless on this one"... I agree. That does appear to be the case.Dervish Sandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13671865801885224353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-38203557628136617742015-08-29T17:03:31.743-04:002015-08-29T17:03:31.743-04:00Couldn't have said it better...Couldn't have said it better...dmarkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07269773990064736457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-85852923825713702972015-08-29T16:30:35.123-04:002015-08-29T16:30:35.123-04:00Anyone who believes that all live do not matter, o...Anyone who believes that all live do not matter, or that some live matter more than other lives matter or that everyone does not initially deserve the same respect and it is only theirs to lose, then yes they are clueless, or worse.

In the that context all lives matter is meaningful and it is how I've tried to live my personal and business life.

Les Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01120280762698472496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-26287040852465460832015-08-29T15:56:57.970-04:002015-08-29T15:56:57.970-04:00Infidel: if BLM is inseparable from police killing...Infidel: if BLM is inseparable from police killings
of blacks as you say, how do you explain them getting involved in business quotas?

http://www.citypages.com/news/what-does-black-lives-matter-want-from-the-minnesota-fair-7601997

Not so "inseparable" at all, if the movement itself has moved on from police killings.

dmarkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07269773990064736457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-88596439327082100092015-08-29T15:39:14.703-04:002015-08-29T15:39:14.703-04:00Even black people strongly prefer "all lives ...Even black people strongly prefer "all lives matter".

No, we are not clueless here.

http://m.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/august_2015/black_lives_matter_or_all_lives_matterdmarkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07269773990064736457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-14972664249104143522015-08-29T13:03:03.298-04:002015-08-29T13:03:03.298-04:00No, "all lives matter" in this context i...No, "all lives matter" in this context is dismissive and disrespectful. Nevertheless, here is a quick comment for consideration.

It is not the slogans “Black Lives Matter” versus “All Lives Matter” that is the issue here; rather the background motive behind the re-parsing. It is the kind of revisionism undertaken by partisan hacks when they seek to de-legitimize the claims and aspirations of a people whom they don’t like. In this instance – reading between the lines -- what the revised phrase really means is “Suck It Up” and “In Your Face!” Their purpose is to create a distraction and divert attention away from any meaningful debate on the subject. It is easy to miss this point when a revised phrase has the appearances of making a moral statement. In fact, it doesn't.

In response to the TV shooting in Virginia last week, Denesh D-Souza twittered jokes about the murders. How crude and reprehensible! These people don’t really care about whether or not any life matters; all they care about is their partisan potshot de jour and their appeals to ugly nativism.
(O)CT(O)PUShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07589336822561030860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8549971354391868786.post-34634771994585788652015-08-29T06:48:52.723-04:002015-08-29T06:48:52.723-04:00It is my view, it has always been n my view (even ...It is my view, it has always been n my view (even before BLM), and it always will be my view.
