A Positive in the Era of tRump, Americans Increasingly Becoming Aware of the Con...

Its been awhile since I last posted. Vacations and other enjoyable pursuits have, thankfully, occupied our time. As I try to keep the political noise and distractions to a minimum staying away from active posting here has been most beneficial to my mental and emotional health. In other words there are by far more important activities to keep one occupied. Activities that enhance life rather than dragging it into the dirt and mud.

Going forward postings here will very likely remain light, as well as few and farther between. Also, as hard as it might be in the Era of the tRump presidency and con governance, future postings will be of a positive and uplifting variety. Today as I happily post the following I am given hope than 2018 will be the beginning of the end for the tRump abomination.

Some poll statistics from The Washington Post:
Nearly half of Americans, 49 percent, say Congress should begin impeachment proceedings that could lead to Trump being removed from office, while 46 percent say Congress should not.

53 percent — say they think Trump has tried to interfere with Mueller’s investigation in a way that amounts to obstruction of justice; 35 percent say they do not think the president has tried to interfere.

Overall, 60 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance, with 36 percent approving

Trump’s overall popularity breaks down along lines of partisanship, ethnicity and gender, according to the poll. While 78 percent of Republicans approve of his performance, 93 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of independents disapprove. More men support him than women, and while 45 percent of whites back him, 19 percent of nonwhites approve.

But 63 percent of Americans support Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, with 52 percent saying they support it strongly; 29 percent oppose the probe.

61 percent of Republicans opposing the probe but an even larger 85 percent of Democrats expressing support. Among independents, however, a two-thirds majority of 67 percent back the investigation.

But 67 percent of Americans think Mueller’s case against Manafort was justified, while 17 percent say it was unjustified

Two-thirds of Americans oppose Trump pardoning Manafort — 53 percent strongly oppose it — and 18 percent support a pardon.

Sixty-four percent of Americans do not think Trump should fire Sessions, with 19 percent saying he should and 17 percent saying they have no opinion. Nearly half of Republicans, 47 percent, say Trump should not fire the attorney general, with 31 percent saying he should.

Just under a quarter of Americans, 23 percent, say they agree with Trump’s criticisms of Sessions for allowing the Mueller investigation to proceed, while 62 percent say they side with Sessions, who has said he is following the law.

61 percent of Americans think that Trump committed a crime if he did direct Cohen to make the payments, while 31 percent say he did not commit a crime.

75 percent of Democrats say Congress should begin impeachment hearings, 82 percent of Republicans say lawmakers should not. Among independents, 49 percent support impeachment while 46 percent oppose it.

The above helped restore my belief that the majority of Americans get it. Even given the robust economy (started under Obama) that tRump has presided over they are beginning to realize the dangers that are inherent in the corrupt tRump administration, as well as the republican con congress of now controlling {all} the levers of government. More and more, as tRump continues to become more unhinged, We the People understand the importance of the rule of law, and independent and free press, and the time tested and honored institutions of the Democratic Republic our founders passed on to us for safe keeping. Lets not let then down.

That's all for today, see ya all next time. Whenever that may be. Hint: when the next bit of truly good and uplifting bit of information surfaces.

  1. Thanks, Les. We have to believe in the American people, and it appears they're finally waking up to the horrible mistake they made in 2016. Trump is the most disliked POTUS in modern American history, and he's also the most corrupt. Let the far right cultists own that. Forever.

    1. tRump does not represent the best in America. He represents the very worst in his party and in America. I seriously doubt those who have wilfully overlooked or forgiven his hate for our time honored institutions, our free and independent press, and our constitution will ever recognize and accept their error. It matters not really. Because enough of his early supporters are beginning to realize tRump is NOT making America great. They are finally starting to see what a malignant pus sack he is.

Yes, the far right (the fascist minded right) will own tRump and his brand of bigoted authoritarianism that he wants to foist upon America.

Real patriotic Americans who love their country and what it brought to the world can only despise and revile tRump and his corrupt administration.

2018 WILL be a tipping point. If rational republicans and independents don't join with democrats in flipping the House and the Senate this nation as we've known it may very well be lost forevet.

  2. Les... it remains to be seen whether or not the recent drop in poll numbers for Trump will mean anything for him. I still contend, as Rusty has pointed out elsewhere, that in the end, America will indeed vote "for the economy, stupid"

If the salaries of everyday ppl hold steady or increase, if 401K's increase, if home values continue to rise, a majority of ppl will have to answer yes to Reagan's question... "Are you better today than you were 4 years ago."

You might also be madder, more scared and worried, but in the end, money talks. For the great majority of the US.

As people think about the 2018 elections, what policies are the Dems, independants and "rational republicans" advocating, apart from "Not Trump?" That group still has to give the citizenry of this country a reason to vote FOR and not just against someone else.

Absent the above, all the talking and positioning by the various candidates will mean nothing.

    Sadly...

    1. Good points Dave. In my mind the most important question is, what does the opposition party (the dems) have to offer that is better. How exactly will their policies work to give my family the OPPORTUNITY for a better life.

You are right, folks vote their wallets and pocketbooks. Unless a significant majority of Americans believe they will be better off with the dems running the show tRump gets re-elected.

Frankly Dave I've developed the mind that tells me most people really don't bother to research the facts from multiple sources before they make a decision. They prefer 30 second sound bites over substance and they look for what they want to hear.

    2. Do people really vote their pocketbooks? In "What's the Matter With Kansas" the data suggest otherwise..guns, abortion, immigrants top the electorate concern there. And so they repeatedly vote in tax cutters and education, infrastructure and ultimately jobs suffer:
surrounding states have grown while they have stagnated. Like the TrumpToads, they find that more desirable than 'socialism' taking over. Here in Idaho, Democrats are scarcer than Muslims..and continue to be. The GOP controlled state has managed to put the populace last and next to in wages, education, graduation rates and
healthcare. So entrenched are they that they don't even blame the Dems. It is well established that the stock market performs significantly better under Dem administrations, that TrickleDown
and oligarchy suck the wealth from the majority of people...but
the GOP pushes how well THEY are for the economy. Yes, in terms of
causing the Depression and each major recession. The secret is marketing: heck if people will buy the memory pill based on a jellyfish enzyme (how smart are jellyfish anyhow?) they will glibly
vote for a semi-criminal dishonorable carnival barker draft dodger
      braggart, no? Not complaining-just observing...

    3. Yes BB Idaho, effective marketing is something the republican party has done a much better job at. A strong economy, the bible, guns and the 2'nd amendment, and equating democratic socialism with 20th century totalitarian communism has given them a gold mine of talking points they have expertly manipulated and parlayed into the situation that is layed out before today. Republicans and authoritarian minded conservatives have hoodwinked near a majority of Americans. Hopefully our current demographics will result in a sea change that will wash the lying basta*rdn tRump and his party out of power in 2018 and and complete the sweep in 2020.

  3. Or Les... they prefer that which agrees with what they've already decided is right... regardless of truth, facts or even empirical evidence.

  4. "I still contend, as Rusty has pointed out elsewhere, that in the end, America will indeed vote 'for the economy, stupid'"

If that were true, #45's approval numbers would/should be through the roof. In fact, they're cratering. Trump is more unpopular now than ever, so apparently the economy isn't enough to ake people want hi to continue as POTUS. Secondly, we don't know what Mueller's final report will be. I've read and heard enough Consstitutional lawyers say that Trump has already committed enough "high crimes and misdemeanors" to impeach 4 presidents. Now we have Bob Woodward's book to give Americans an even deeper look into Trump's morally diseased mind and presidency.

In the end, I believe decency and goodness will win out. America may come to realize that we profits nothing if we lose our souls.

PS. I would believe the mewlings of a baby lamb before I believed anything from any of the WYD Trump cultists. They're all clearly suffering from brain rot.

  5. Well Shaw and B.B... in fairness, we’re waiting for elections results that are still 2 months out.
