Trump Would Make a Lousy President and Commander in Chief...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Those among us that actually believe Donald J. Trump would make a good Commander in Cheif and President ought to spend some time considering the following excerpt from a Septembr 7thTIME article. Clear objective thinking and rational analysis is what we need in a president, something DJT has so far failed to demonstrate to America that he actually has these abilities. Leading a nation of some 320 millioin people, the most powerful and influential on the planet requires something much different than running a busuness and scamming consumers to purchase your product.

... In recent months, ISIS has made clear that it’s closely following this election, too—and it has chosen a candidate. Interviews with ISIS members and analysis of social media, including in a recent Foreign Affairs article by Mara Revkin and Ahmad Mhidi, make it clear: “ISIS is rooting for Trump.”

This year, ISIS isn’t simply a passive observer of American politics. Since the group’s rapid rise in 2014, ISIS has established a far-reaching, sophisticated propaganda machine. Its members rely on social media to shape public opinion, recruit new members and mobilize followers to carry out attacks. Now, some of them are using those channels to advocate for Trump. In August, one ISIS spokesman wrote: “I ask Allah to deliver America to Trump.” Another supporter declared: “The ‘facilitation’ of Trump’s arrival in the White House must be a priority for jihadists at any cost!!!” ISIS is working to drum up support for the candidate it has called “the perfect enemy.”

That may come as a surprise to some. After all, Trump has spent this election season making a series of combative and bellicose comments on terrorism—from his pledge to kill the families of terrorists, his plans bring back torture of suspected terrorists and his call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. But the truth is, Trump’s statements and extreme policies aren’t just contrary to our values—they play right into the hands of ISIS.

Trump’s anti-Muslim proposals are likely to inspire and radicalize more violent jihadists in the U.S. and Europe. ...

Trump presents a far greater danger to traditional American values, our civil liberties, and homeland security than does HRC.

UPDATE:

This just in from TPM. More Trump bellicose claims as he continues to talk from his derriere.

In a 15-minute effort to set the “terribly dishonest” media straight before a speech on school choice in Cleveland, Donald Trump claimed that with him at the helm, Osama bin Laden would've been captured even before the Sept, 11, 2001 terror attacks.

“I would’ve been tougher on terrorism. Bin Laden would’ve been caught a long time ago, before he was ultimately caught, prior to the downing of the World Trade Center,” Trump said during an aside about his record on Iraq.

The GOP nominee went on to say that if he had been in Congress at the time, he would have cast a vote opposing the invasion.

Trump also claimed he gave statements “much closer” to the invasion of Iraq saying he was against the war. He said those statements “superseded” his earlier, much-cited interview with shock jock radio host Howard Stern, where Trump said he did support the invasion.

  1. Considering "I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me!" and "Trump said that on day one of his presidency, he would convene his top generals and give what he called a "simple instruction" to in 30 days submit to the Oval Office "a plan for soundly and quickly defeating ISIS" we would almost expect a hearty 'Seig Heil, mein Furher' from the assembled brass. Hitler at least served in the military, while der

    1. Given the conversations I had today with staunch Drumpf supporters I would have to say yes, our national IQ has fallen that far. The white supremacy tone was pronounced and the deep resentment bordered on outright hatred.

Drumpf plays to the very worst in America. How so many millions can support his idiocy, lies, demagoguery, divisiveness, hypocrisy, and so much more is beyond comprehension.

Drumpf would attempt to change the USA so it looks more like Putin's Russia perhaps. He does seem to great admiration for Putin.

    3. BB, I agree with your points except for the one at the end over Trump not having served in the military.

I didn't think that point was good against Pres. Obama or Pres. Clinton, nor against the likely next Pres. Clinton.

The US military is civilian-led, after all.

    4. Given Trump's ridiculous pronouncements on this subject I believe BB's comment quite appropriate.

As part of the general idea that Trump isn't even qualified to command a bag of plastic green army men, I can accept that.

  2. Well Trump, let's see those statements "much closer" to the invasion.
