Fabricating BS - The Trump Campaign, the NRA, and the NRC...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

More BS from the NRA, NRC, and the Trump Fabrication Factory. Of course the Nuge is found at the center shoveling the brown stuff.
In Trump’s ad, Nugent says, “The Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Ten Commandments, the golden rule. We the people, choosing our own pursuit of happiness: It doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world. Hunting, fishing, trapping: We the people own these precious renewable natural resources. It’s a way of life, which is why conservation is the greatest success story in the world here in America. Hillary Clinton is against all these things. She will destroy the freedom that is uniquely American. Donald Trump will safeguard the things that make America the greatest place in the world.”

Nugent is promoting the Trump ad on his Facebook page, just hours after claiming victims of a September 17 stabbing spree at a Minnesota mall are “pathetic” and “embarrassing” because they were unarmed.

At the end of the ad, Trump says, “Political correctness, Hillary Clinton, and Washington insiders are trying to take away our Second Amendment rights and they’re really trying hard like never ever before. That’s wrong, and it won’t happen when I’m president. I will protect your rights. I will protect your Second Amendment.”

Clinton's actual  positions on firearm issues and gun control:

I support Brady Bill and closing the Charleston loophole

Reverse gun manufacturer immunity; let them get sued

Don't shield gun manufacturers from lawsuits: I vote that way

Rein in idea that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime

Balance lawful gun ownership & keeping guns from criminals

Give local police access to federal gun tracking info

Let states; cities determine local gun laws

Against illegal guns, crack down on illegal gun dealers

Get assault weapons; guns off the street

Prevent unauthorized firearm use with "smart gun" technology.

I believe weapons of war have no place on our streets. We may have our disagreements on gun safety regulations, but we should all be able to agree on a few things. If the FBI is watching you for suspected terrorist links, you shouldn’t be able to just go buy a gun with no questions asked. You shouldn’t be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show. And yes, if you’re too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America.

Hillary, June 13, 2016

No where does HRC say she does not support the right of citizens to lawfully keep and bear forearms for lawful purposes. Only rightwing wingnuts believe otherwise.

  1. The rightwing wingnuts believe everything Trump says and nothing that Clinton says. Is that crazy or what!

  2. It is crazy to believe almost anything tRump says. Pathological liar comes to mind when thinking about his character.

  3. RN, Hillary doesn't say she wants to eliminate our 2nd amendment right, but I believe if she could, she would. Therefore, she and other Democrats won't take it away, but they will do everything they can to make it so darn difficult and expensive to own a firearm. This of course is my opinion.

Shouldn't we be keeping guns from criminals and cracking down on illegal gun dealers now? Why aren't we enforcing the laws already on the books? It won't eliminate all criminals but it would help.

    1. To the best of my knowledge we are enforcing present laws. Problem is there exists different strokes for different folks so to speak.

Another problem is the NRA, an organization I belonged to before it went off the rails. It is no longer the organization it was 35 or 40 years ago. Itis now nothing but a rightwing political organization that does some firearm safety training.

  4. Approximately 2,400 years ago, Plato wrote about the necessity of a leader to sometimes engage in “noble lies and pious deceptions” — the feint, the sleight-of-hand, the Trojan Horse. In ancient times, the small nation-states of Greece were surrounded by powerful enemies, Darius of Persia among them. Audacious acts of trickery and deceit to gain an upper hand against powerful forces were the stuff of legend, i.e. the glorification of “pious deceptions” as acts of heroism and patriotism.

On the flip side of this coin are the toxic deceptions of demagogues who employ trickery for self-serving evil purposes. Again, the pages of history are filled with villains: Hitler, Mussolini, Pinochet, and Stalin, as examples.

My point is that lies and deceptions are an intrinsic part of politics and leadership; not necessary nefarious on the surface. The challenge, of course, is to distinguish between the two, the noble versus the ignoble. One one hand, we have a candidate who can be annoying and cloying; another who is downright pathological and dangerous.

Plato was prescient on another point. When a democracy has reached full maturity — when all barriers have been removed — a form of decadence takes over. The glue that holds democracy together becomes increasingly tenuous as core values, constraints, and trust in institutions are increasingly challenged. This is when a late-stage democracy is vulnerable to demagoguery and sinks into totalitarianism.

Complex forces are in play, but let us not forgot Plato's warning 2,400 years ago.

    1. Indeed. Pure democracy were it ever truly experienced would breakdown into anarchy.

Our republic (representative democracy, or if prefered democratic republic) is showing advanced signs of the condition Plato spoke of.

We all should contemplate this (O)CT(O)PUS. However my gut tells me few will.

  5. What current gun laws aren't we enforcing? What illegal gun dealers are not being cracked down on?

  6. Jerry,

There is a gun show loophole although technically each sale must proceed through a licensed firearms dealer replete with a background check and three day waiting period. Also private sales over the internet or otherwise are not always 100% by the book. It is only lawful to gift a firearm to an immediate member of your family without any tracking or paperwork. Straw purchases continue to be a large problem in border states and around the nation due to the high volume of gun sales. A straw purchaser can buy ten weapons, dispose of them and go back and buy ten more a couple of weeks later. These types of activities are only very rarely investigated. These weapons can go to Mexico or Central America, other countries or into criminal networks and gangs.

Also local firearms laws are circumvented by simply travelling outside of a city or into a neighboring state. The guns are simply smuggled back into the locality with stricter gun control usually in a passenger vehicle.

Plus, there are apparently zero quotas restricting overall gun production, no matter what is proven to become of said weapons after the very first sale, which is generally legal. There are no consequences to the manufacturer if their weapons fall into the wrong hands. Firearms dealers are sometimes prosecuted, but the practice of moving guns is so profitable, there is little incentive to not take a risk.

    1. FJ, it's my comment. I didn't reply to your comment because you answered my questions, and that was that. In some examples it is really people doing things to avoid laws instead of breaking laws. That's where uniform nation gun laws would be helpful rather than the mishmash of state and local laws that we now have.

  7. Why are there two Jerry Critters? The ID numbers of each are different. Although the 2nd one does sound like something the real Jerry Critter would say. BTW, talking about Blogger ID numbers... I didn't notice it at first, but the blog troll "Luke" (he who accused everyone of plagiarizing him) is the infamous troll we all know as "Steve". I didn't notice it at first, but the ID numbers are the same (See here for proof). Just something I thought people should be aware of.

As for gun control, the statement about HRC eliminating the 2nd Amendment... "I believe if she could, she would", is irrelevant. She couldn't and she won't. I'd be surprised if (under a HRC presidency) we make any progress in the other direction (less gun nuttery, slightly more gun sanity).

    1. DS, if you are referring to the two posts on this thread, they are both mine...the real Jerry Critter. I don't know why it doesn't have my avatar.

    2. The second comment isn't only missing the avatar, it has a different ID # attached to it. I'd like to figure out what's going on, as I used this method (comparing ID #s) to catch Steve (changed the name on his account to "Luke"). What did I just catch you doing? Having two different accounts, at least. FYI, Flying Junior noticed the missing avatar from some of your comments as well... his reaction was to write "Jerry is being impersonated".

  8. Good "catch", Mr. Sanders. Good thing it wasn't a fake Jerry after all.

I'm guessing he was logged in wrong or something.
