Clinton Accepts Presidential Debate Schedule...

Hillary Clinton on Monday night said she will attend all three general election presidential debates, in which she will square off against Donald Trump.

“Secretary Clinton looks forward to participating in all three presidential debates scheduled by the independent debate commission,” John Podesta, Clinton campaign chairman, said in a statement.
“With so much at stake in the fall elections, she believes these debates will provide the American people with an important opportunity to hear from the candidates on issues critical to the country's future.”

Podesta took aim at Trump in his statement, saying it’s uncertain whether the GOP nominee will follow through and debate the former secretary of State.

“The only issue now is whether Donald Trump is going to show up to debate at the date, times, places and formats set by the commission last year through a bipartisan process,” Podesta said. “We will accept the commission's invitation and expect Donald Trump to do the same."

Late last month, Trump tweeted his opposition to the debate schedule, saying Clinton and the Democratic Party are “rigging” the debates by holding them on nights that coincide with two major NFL games.

Now we wait to see if Trump is man enough to debate an obviously superior female intellect.

Hopefully Gary Johnson achieves the 15% threshold in five national polls to secure a spot on the debate stage.

UPDATE:

Hillary Clinton now holds a 10-point lead over Donald Trump, 51 percent to 41 percent, according to results from the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll

Clinton's double-digit lead is up from an 8-point gap last week. The 10-point margin is the biggest spread in the tracking poll since the two-way general election match-up was first compared in early May.

Clinton also holds a 6-point advantage in a four-way general election match-up at 44 percent, with Trump at 38 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson at 10 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 4 percent.

Last week, Clinton's lead jumped from 1 point to 8 points following her party's convention, but the real question was whether this bounce would last. The latest tracking poll results indicate that Clinton's traction over Trump has not slipped.

Over the past four weeks, Trump has lost support from core Republican voters. In previous weeks, the Republican nominee dominated Clinton among men. This week, however, Trump's margin over Clinton among men is only 5 points, down from a 16-point margin two weeks ago. A large gender gap in American elections is common; although Mitt Romney lost the presidential election in 2012 he still won men by 7 points, according to NBC News Exit Polls.

Looking more and more like Americans are wising up to Trump and his seriously flawed candidacy and vision of divisiveness in his plan to "Make America Great Again". Looking forward to the debates. If they happen that is. We all know Trump is angling to find a way to back away from debating. Not that we don't understand why he would.

  1. It would not surprise me if Trump refuses to debate Clinton. After all, he does not have big enough "hands"to "handle" a strong woman.

  2. RN, if Trump doesn't debate Hillary, for whatever reason, he's done. Not that I think he'll give a good debate, mind you. Hillary will stick to the issues and give her arguments, but Trump is just going to attack her and call her names. That's not a debate. I don't like Hillary, but I think she'll trounce the heck out of Trump in a one-on-one.

  3. Trump has known for months that he would be the GOP nominee. There are dozens of smart GOP advisors who for sure would have coached him on domestic and foreign policies, but his numerous gaffs during the campaign revealed that he hasn't taken advantage of those resources. The author who ghost wrote his book, "The Art of the Deal," has reported that Trump has a short attention span and is frighteningly incurious, actually intellectually lazy. Not exactly attributes one wants in a leader, never mind a leader with his finger on the nuclear button.

I think Trump will weasel out of the debates. I think he knows enough to know he can't go up against Hillary with his lack of knowledge. Running a country is not like owning a casino or judging a beauty pageant.

  4. Clinton is going to scold Trump on national tv and if he dares attack back he'll get the Rick Lazio treatment and that will be that. We shall see.

The Libertarians have GOT to clean up their act on the Civil Rights Act or they will never hold the highest offices.

    1. Libertarianism is a racist ideology. Many of them think Civil Rights legislation should be rolled back (businesses should be able to discriminate). Many believe the labor of Black people is less valuable than that of White people (they want to do away with the minimum wage so White business owners can hire Black people for "what they're worth", which is sub-minimum wage).

    2. Your opinion. There are racist libertarians, democrats, republicans, greens, and likely some in other minor parties.

I'm sure there SOME Libertarains who believe as you say. I know many who do not.

The libertarian party goes need to do a better job of representing what they believe in AND how they are going to achieve true equality of opportunity for all.

When they do I might consider joining the party. Until then I remain un-enrolled.

  5. I wouldn't be opposed to Gary Johnson participating in the debate, but he won't make it to 15 percent.
