As The Republican 2016 Nominee For POTUS Continues To Refuse To Release His Tax Returns...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

ABC News - Business magnate Warren Buffett took on Donald Trump over his refusal to release his tax returns -- issuing the real estate mogul a challenge to put his cards on the table.

Speaking at a Hillary Clinton rally in Omaha, Nebraska today, the multi-billionaire joked he would meet Trump "any place, any time between now and election" to go over each other's tax returns. The GOP nominee has claimed that he can't release his tax returns because he is being audited.

"Now I've got news for him, I'm under audit too," Buffett said. "There are no rules against showing your tax returns and just let people ask us questions about the items that are on there."

Buffett instead suggested that Trump is withholding his tax returns intentionally.

"You're only afraid if you've got something to be afraid about," he told to the crowd. "He's not afraid of the IRS. He's afraid because of you."

Buffett also challenged Trump on his claim that he's "made a lot of sacrifices."

Regardless whether ya love or hate Mr. Buffett he has a very valid point that should be of concern to all American's of voting age. Not that the dyed in the wool Trumpians will be any more concerned over this than anything else irregular or idiotic that Trump does or says. We do hope, and believe, the rest of Americans will be.

  1. We will never see Trump's returns...unless they are released as part of a future trial for tax evasion.

  2. That my be so Jerry, but at this point it is conjecture. Hopefully the Trumpeter releases before fall.

  3. If elected he has to release them before that it is voluntary and he has nothing to gain. He is an embarrassment and should pull out of the race. She is a lying crook and should do the same but neither one of these things will happen. His ego gets in his way and she is to connected to fail.
One thing trump says is true, the system is rigged and it is against the American people especially the middle class.

  4. Who really gives a damn about that there are so many other more important things that are screwing up this country that will send us down the toilet if Hillary is elected, and your stuck on Trumps Taxes?
    Really?

  5. RN, could Trump be withholding them to cause a stir? We know he likes attention. And what better way than to be front and center with tax returns.

He challenges people, so it's kind of nice to see Buffett challenge Trump. Let's see if Trump picks up the gauntlet! I won't hold my breath though!

  6. Yup, the system is rigged. Has been for years. Trump has been using the rigged system to his benefit for years. He is flaming hypocrite as well as a liar extraordinaire.

    Jerry may well be right.

  7. Perhaps Russian hackers will release the Trump taxes.

  8. He is singled out for his wealth but what about kennedys or kerry or even the clintons. Of course none of these earned their wealth they all worked the system. At least trump is not ashamed of his wealth like mittens was and of course -H-.

Diversion away from the real issues is working well. Speaking of flaming hypocrites -H- is up in the polls even though she proved she will lie about anything even things that are on record. He base goes yea -H-, they should change to I'm with the crooked liar instead of I'm with her.
Love her answer to growing the economy. Have a massive stimulus package, give free tuition, raise taxes on the rich and corporations. Great plan, look how well it has worked for BHO.

  10. The only gauntlet Trump is going to pick up is the gauntlet for insanity and destruction of our republic. That's become more and more the way I see it Pamela. I cannot recall ever despising a politician as much as I despise Trump.

BTW, be sure to tune in to CNN Weds. at 9:00 PM and watch the Libertarian Town Hall. Kudos to CNN for hosting it.

There still is HOPE . We need to open up exposure for all viable candidates, including for Jill Stein.

  14. @ skudrunner:

He is singled out for his wealth…

No, he’s singled out because he has refused to releases his taxes. S claimabut being audited is bogus and everyone knows it.

… what about Kennedys or Kerry or even the Clintons.

Kennedy is no longer alive and therefore irrelevant this post. Kerry is not running for POTUS and is not relevant to this post. HRC, has not refused to release her tax returns, therefore your point is mute with respect to this post.

Of course none of these earned their wealth they all worked the system.

Kennedy inherited his wealth, made off activities that were not honorable.. But he did earn his salary as a servant of the people who elected him.

Kerry married wealth but he too eared his salary both as a senator and SOS as a servant of the people who elected him and as an advisor to the President and administrator.

Ditto with WJC and HRC as governor and president and HRC as senator and SOS.

Yes they are wealthy, and much of their wealth is unearned. But your statement is only half true and as usual you injected it to deflect away from the issue of the post. Which is Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns.

At least Trump is not ashamed of his wealth like mittens (Romney) was and of course -H- (HRC).

Conjecture and likely BS. But he real point is your comment is totally irrelevant to the post.

Hypocrisy is, and always has been present in politics. Politicians are people and it is reasonable to assume that like the general population there will be a certain percentage that are hypocrites. DJT is an excellent example of hypocrisy and cowardice. He has been playing the system and scamming people for years. Look it up skudrunner.

I have listened both HRC and DJT and Trump has provided scant few specifics as to how he will do all he says, most of which is BS and he knows it. He is a demagogue and a fear monger. His shtick is to repeat BS often enough and a certain number of people will begin to believe him. He also is a megalomaniac and if elected Preznit the nation will see its first truly Imperial Presidency.

Trump has proven himself to be ill informed (check it out skudrunner) and given his freewheeling style he likely would prove to be a loose cannon on the international stage.

  16. Trump
Trump has been trying hard to chase away Republican support. He obviously doesn't like Republicans. Recently he has said he doesn't support Ryan, or McCain and is actively supporting other people for their seats in the upcoming election. McCain and Ryan have halfheartedly supported Trump simply because he is the Republican nominee, as have many other Republicans. They continue to come out and denounce his statements on various issues, including the latest dust up about Mr. and Mrs. Kahn, yet, continue to say he is the only choice to be the next president. Certainly it is a choice of two evils for Republicans, with Hillary being the most evil.
It's the majority of the Republican voters who have put Trump in his position and Republican leadership in their uncomfortable position. Trump is an outsider as a Republican, as much as Sanders was an outsider in the Democratic party. The Republicans chose the outsider, the Democrats did not. That puts Trump at a disadvantage for Republican party unity and getting the most possible votes out of Republicans. Hillary won her party's nomination, but Sander supporters claim they won't vote for her and decades of negative Hillary feelings within the Democratic party towards Hillary means she won't get the most available democratic votes. That negativity towards Hillary from within the Democratic party is why she lost to Obama (an unknown) even though she was considered a shoe in to win the Democratic nomination in 2008.
This will leave the undecided vote (at a high of 20%) to decide who the winner will be. That's one of the only normal facts about this election. The undecided voters often decide who will be president. I doubt a huge democratic voter turnout (which hasn't appeared during the primary's) can make up that 20% undecided vote. Those undecided voters seem to be in the same quandary, which candidate is less evil, which candidate do they dislike more.
Democrats are hoping Trump's big mouth will get those undecided voters to go with Hillary, but there is no sign that is happening. The "Teflon Don" has yet to say something that has changed the mind of those undecided voters. The undecided percentage hasn't changed in months. Even the negative comments from Republican leaders about Trump hasn't had an effect on the undecided number. The traditional ideal of what a president should be characteristically doesn't seem to matter. As repulsive as Trump can be, that hasn't changed the undecided voters, yet. Similarly, all the negativity about Hillary hasn't changed that undecided number. These undecided voters will probably not vote, or make up their minds as they vote. Just make a pick, like pin the tail on the donkey. It's a crummy choice in their eyes.
As for me; my State will go big for Hillary, so I probably won't vote. If I was in a State that was close, I would vote for Hillary based only on my repulsion for Trump. I am not a Hillary fan. Good luck with your choice, undecideds.

    1. Trump may win the popular vote, perhaps by a lot, and lose the EC. His election hinges on just three or four states. My state is one of them, which puts me in a funny spot, because I do not want to vote for Clinton (I'm just sick to death of the status quo), and Trump is either a complete unknown or a psychotic moron. The rabble he riled up, in the way he did, would take an awful lot of good works to forgive. In a way, though, I'm glad for what he's done in that now we starkly see the hard reactionary streak in today's American right-wing, and it's susceptibility to fascism. He would have to do an about-face on them if he is to be respected at all. Otherwise, America will be the laughing stock of the world, at best...

I'm going to vote for Stein, and if America wants to elect Trump, let 'em. Let's see what happens. Hopefully we learn something from it.

    2. According to Nate Silver, Gary Johnson might end up KICKING ASS! In that he's (according to the forecast RN linked to) going to end up with a WHOPPING 6.6% of the popular vote!! That's up (way up) from just under 1% (what he got last time). Gooooo Gary!!! Not "go" in that he has a chance of winning even 1 state, however. That's still not going to happen (he will still end up with zero electoral votes).

BTW, in addition to not releasing his taxes, the latest rumor I've heard is that Trump is going to try and get out of debating HRC. According to Vox "Some commentators have even wondered if Trump might be laying the groundwork to skip the debate once more" (remember that he skipped the 2nd Fox Nooz debate to hold a phony charity event for veterans). Although a more likely scenario is that he's setting up a "rigged" excuse. A recent Trump tweet says... "As usual, Hillary & the Dems are trying to rig the debates so 2 are up against major NFL games. Same as last time w/ Bernie. Unacceptable!". Except that "neither candidate nor political party had anything to do with this schedule. The presidential debates are set by the independent Commission on Presidential Debates a year in advance" (Source).

    1. We've been screwed since 1981..and will continue to be as long as voters are more interested in
guns and abortions than the overall good of the country. The GOP cure, lower business taxes, lower
gains taxes, lower high end taxes, less regulation on polluters and unsafe employers has been in place
for 40 years. How we doing?

      Delete
    2. Less regulation on polluters and relaxing regulation on safety is unacceptable.

Firearms are already regulated. What is needed is a uniform regulation across all 50 states.

Abortion needs regulation as well. Up to 21 weeks it should be up to the women.

The tax code should be simplified and inheritance taxes should be abolished.

  20. In a swing state, a vote for Stein is a defacto vote for Trump. If you were in CA, it wouldn't matter. But, you are in a swing state. If you don't vote for Trump, you will share the responsibility if Trump is elected,.

  21. For some people Jerry voting their convictions, staying true to thier conscience, is the most important issue for them. Under the typical ("normal") circumstances where both candidates are qualified and both candidates have the temperament to be president I would vote Stein or Johnson, whichever candidate supports issues I support and opposes those issue I oppose. But this is not your normal election and given Trump's complete lack of qualifications and unstable temperament priority one must be to defeat Trump Yuuugely in November.

  22. JMJ: I'm going to vote for Stein, and if America wants to elect Trump, let 'em. Let's see what happens. Hopefully we learn something from it.

What Jerry said. In a swing state a vote for Stein is a vote for Trump. Also, we've got to remember that the next president will appoint several SCOTUS judges. Meaning, that if we get a president Trump, we'll be dealing with the fallout for decades.

RN: Abortion needs regulation as well. Up to 21 weeks it should be up to the women.

According to Planned Parenhood "Nearly 99% of abortions occur before 21 weeks, but when they are needed later in pregnancy, it's often in very complex circumstances — the kind of situations where a woman and her doctor need every medical option available. Abortions later in pregnancy may involve rare, severe fetal anomalies and serious risks to the woman's health".

Me, I'm more concerned about expanding the "it should be up to the women" to ALL women, including poor women. Which is why I support HRC's call for repealing the Hyde amendment.
