Black Lives Matter Thumbs Nose At DNC...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Does this signify America may face many a long hot summer? In more ways than just the obvious?

Black Lives Matter movement does deserve credit for their action (decision) to remain outside and above political party manipulation.

Activists with the Black Lives Matter movement rejected the Democratic Party's recent statement of support, making clear that they are not affiliated with any political party.

"A resolution signaling the Democratic National Committee's endorsement that Black lives matter, in no way implies an endorsement of the DNC by the Black Lives Matter Network, nor was it done in consultation with us," the Black Lives Matter Network wrote in a statement Sunday.

"We do not now, nor have we ever, endorsed or affiliated with the Democratic Party, or with any party. The Democratic Party, like the Republican and all political parties, have historically attempted to control or contain Black people's efforts to liberate ourselves," the statement continues. "True change requires real struggle, and that struggle will be in the streets and led by the people, not by a political party." Emphasis mine

Creeping Political Correctness With Discipline For Students Who Do Not Knuckle Under...

Rational Nation USA

Political correct speech has held great popularity in some institutions of higher learning for quite some time. Enforced indoctrination is now on college campuses. Thought police are likely not far behind. "1984" (George Orwell's classic novel) may be soon to follow.

Washington State students risk a failing grade in one course if they use any common descriptors professor considers “oppressive and hateful language.

In another class, students will lose one point every time they use the words “illegal alien” or “illegals” rather than the preferred terms of “‘undocumented’ migrants/immigrants/persons.”

Trump the Rump tapping into, and whipping up the seething discontent that many Americans feel. A large part of which is the Tea Party wing of the GOP and it's active obstruction of the Obama presidency, Which by the way was put in place by the American people not once, but twice. Scratching my heads trying to figure out what it is Trump the Rump fails to understand about democratic election results.

BTW, can anyone tell me exactly what, if anything Trump the Rump said of any substance? Other than a whole lot of people are pissed off.

No substance. All blustery brawn. Dude is nothin more than a wealthy loudmouth without a serious plan.

Lives Matter...

DNC to vote on acceptance of the following.
WHEREAS, the Democratic Party believes in the American Dream and the promise of liberty and justice for all, and we know that this dream is a nightmare for too many young people stripped of their dignity under the vestiges of slavery, Jim Crow and White Supremacy; and
WHEREAS, we, the Democratic National Committee, have repeatedly called for race and justice – demilitarization of police, ending racial profiling, criminal justice reform, and investments in young people, families, and communities — after Trayvon Martin, after Michael Brown, after Tamir Rice, after Freddie Gray, after Sandra Bland, after Christian Taylor, after too many others lost in the unacceptable epidemic of extrajudicial killings of unarmed black men, women, and children at the hands of police; and
WHEREAS, we hear the “Black lives matter” cry from the inspiration of creators Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza, and from the heart of a generation of young African Americans who feel totally dismissed and unheard as they are crushed between unlawful street violence and unjust police violence; we salute the courageous young people who participate in the #March2Justice, and we repeat the chant “say her name” to acknowledge the Black women whose stories are often untold and whose cases are unresolved; and
WHEREAS, without systemic reform this state of unrest jeopardizes the well-being of our democracy and our nation;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the DNC joins with Americans across the country in affirming “Black lives matter” and the “say her name” efforts to make visible the pain of our fellow and sister Americans as they condemn extrajudicial killings of unarmed African American men, women and children; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the DNC renews our previous calls to action and urges Congress to adopt systemic reforms at state, local, and federal levels to prohibit law enforcement from profiling based on race, nationality, ethnicity, or religion, to minimize the transfer of excess equipment (like the military-grade vehicles and weapons that were used to police peaceful civilians in the streets of Ferguson, Missouri) to federal and state law enforcement; and to support prevention programs that give young people alternatives to incarceration.

To which we respond with an expansion, all lives matter. Politically incorrect perhaps, but true. It is, after all, the 21st century.

Thoughts anyone?

Gender Neutral Finds UT Campus...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The University of Tennessee is asking students to use “ze, hir, hirs, and xe, xem, xyr.”

No, those words are not another language. They’re actually the gender-neutral singular versions of pronouns.

The University of Tennessee Office for Diversity and Inclusion is asking students and faculty to use the pronouns in order to create a more inclusive campus. They say it alleviates a heavy burden for people expressing different genders or identities.

“We should not assume someone’s gender by their appearance, nor by what is listed on a roster or in student information systems,” Donna Braquet, the Director of the University of Tennessee’s Pride Center said. “Transgender people and people who do not identify within the gender binary may use a different name than their legal name and pronouns of their gender identity, rather than the pronouns of the sex they were assigned at birth.”

For the first week of classes, Braquet is also asking teachers to ask everyone to provide their name and pronoun instead of calling roll. “The name a student uses may not be the one on the official roster, and the roster name may not be the same gender as the one the student now uses,” ze said.

“These may sound a little funny at first, but only because they are new,” Braquet said. “The she and he pronouns would sound strange too if we had been taught ze when growing up.”

Yep, the agenda moves forward. Gender neutral  driven political correctness shifts into second gear. Indoctrination of young adult college students in process. Surely the indoctrination will flow down to the lower grade levels so total societal indoctrination can be completed.

How far we have progressed in blurring, and in some cases erasing the lines that heretofore defined our individuality and differences.

My personal view is they can take the singular form of their gender neutral pronouns and file them in the circular file.  But that's just me.

Why the Trump Campaign Will Fail...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

the Donald, aka Trump the Rump

The Donald, while leading the republican field of presidential candidates has negative numbers almost as high as his positive numbers. Trump, appealing to the anti immigration crowd and those with a general extreme dislike for the established order in general, has tapped into the negativity that drives the Tea Party and conservative/reactionary movement.

Trump will ultimately fail, as will the movement that has propelled him to national political attention.

reason .com  does an exemplary job explaining the Trump campaign strategy.  It is defines why  ultimately it is destined to failure. A very good thing for America.

To the extent that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is about any actual issue, it is about opposition to immigration. Trump has, among other things, proposed deporting 11 million unauthorized immigrants currently in the United States, expressed support for reducing legal immigration levels, jeered at immigrant “anchor babies,” and called for an end to birthright citizenship, even though it is constitutionallyrequired.
Trump’s slogan, the catchall phrase that binds his scattershot campaign together, is “Make This Country Great Again.” In combination with his immigration platform, the clear implication of the slogan is that America has, over the years, become a not great place, and immigrants are at least one reason—perhaps the primary reason—why.
Nativism is at the core of Donald Trump’s campaign; it is one of the keys to his appeal. And amongst his supporters and admirers, that aggressive nativism often shades into outright racism.
You can find these expressions of racism in quotes from Trump’s supporters gathered by reporters following the candidate on the trail.
Here, for example, is what one 53-year-old Trump supporter from Alabama recently told The New York Times he hoped the candidate would say at a rally:

Firearms In America... It Is Time For Action

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

America, a "civilized" modern industrial nation highly values the right of it's civilian population to own and keep firearms.

The founding fathers and citizens  of a  fledgling nation, some 228 years ago, insured that the right of the people to keep and bear arms  would not be infringed.  Our right to firearm ownership is guaranteed  by the 2'nd Amendment to our constitution.

United States of America has the highest rate of firearm violence among industrialized nations. It also has the highest rate of firearm ownership in the world/.

The data is chilling and anyone with a modicum of common sense and thinking rationally knows we have a problem and that our present patchwork system of managing firearm purchase and ownership is failing us.

Follow are just the highlights as outlined in VOX.

America has six times as many firearm homicides as Canada, and 15 times as many as Germany.

America has 4.4 percent of the world's population, but almost half of the civilian-owned guns around the world

Police are more likely to be killed in homicides in states with more guns

Support for gun ownership has sharply increased since the early '90s

High-profile shootings don't appear to lead to more support for gun control

But specific gun control policies are fairly popular

America has a firearm problem and sanity demands we take action to  address it.

This site supports the right to own firearms for hunting, target practice, competitive shooting, and defense against home invasions. It also supports reasonable and uniform firearm regulations, including thorough background checks and waiting (or cooling off) periods as well as firearm registration. Regulations ought to be the same across all 50 states ad they should be strictly enforced.

It is past time for American politicians to stop ignoring this issue and kicking the can down the road any further. It is high time for action, it is time to tell the NRA to STFU, to start acting responsibly and in the interest of the American people. In other words screw the firearm manufacturers and their profit motives.

Be sure to click on one of the VOX links and study the graphs. Data is informative, analyzing the data and graphs will lead one to the only logical conclusion.

Senator Cruz is on board with The Donald in challenging the 14th Amendment in court. With the heightened political concern over illegal aliens, aka undocumented immigrants, and The Donald making immigration and walls a centerpiece of his campaign we will undoubtedly be hearing a lot about this in coming months. After the election? Who knows, the can has been kicked down the road for so long it is hard to imagine something actually getting done in Washington on the issue.

With Cruz praising The Donald at almost every opportunity is it possible there is an alliance forming? The thought has crossed mind that in the unlikely event The Donald receives the GOP nomination Cruz just might be the VP pick. Certainly plausible. There is a long way to go however and things can change quickly in this game.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday that he "absolutely" supports ending birthright citizenship, suggesting that has been his position for years.

"Absolutely. We should end granting automatic birthright citizenship to the children of those who are here illegally," Cruz, who is running for president, said during an interview with the Michael Medved Show. "That has been my position from the very first day of my running for the Senate."

Cruz's comments come after Donald Trump's immigration policy proposal has sparked a debate among Republican presidential candidates and forced the issue into the media spotlight. The plan, released by Trump on Sunday, called for building a wall along the southern border and changing the 14th Amendment to end so-called guaranteed citizenship to those born inside the United States.

Cruz, who has repeatedly praised Trump throughout his presidential campaign, said Wednesday that the businessman and 2016 frontrunner is "forcing the mainstream media to talk about issues they don't want to talk about."

Pushed on his immigration policies, Trump told host Chuck Todd, "It will work out so well.

Blacks Excluded @ 2 to 3 Times Higher Rate From Jury's In South...

The Confederate Veterans Memorial in front of the Caddo Parish Courthouse in Shreveport, La.CreditBrandon Thibodeaux for The New York Times

In Louisiana’s Caddo Parish, where Shreveport is the parish seat, a study to be released Monday has found that prosecutors used peremptory challenges three times as often to strike black potential jurors as others during the last decade.

That is consistent with patterns researchers found earlier in Alabama, Louisiana and North Carolina, where prosecutors struck black jurors at double or triple the rates of others.

In Georgia, prosecutors excluded every black prospective juror in a death penalty case against a black defendant, which the Supreme Court has agreed to review this fall.

Such patterns tell a story, and it isn't a pretty one.

Where You Stand Speaks Volumes...

As a committee of city government called Thursday for taking down four controversial statues that celebrate Confederate officials and a white supremacist group’s violent fight against a biracial state government during Reconstruction, Gov. Bobby Jindal’s office said it is looking into whether he can use the power of his office to keep the monuments in place.

The monuments, including the statue of Gen. Robert E. Lee atop the column at a St. Charles Avenue traffic circle, should be taken down under an ordinance that allows the City Council to remove public statues that celebrate racist ideologies or are likely to be sites of violent protest, the Historic District Landmarks Commission decided after about an hour of sometimes heated testimony.

The HDLC’s recommendation, approved by an 11-1 vote, now heads to the City Council. Later Thursday, the Human Relations Commission held a similar hearing on the fate of the monuments and was expected to issue its own recommendation.

In addition to the statue of Lee, the commission recommended removing the statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis from the street that bears his name and the statue of P.G.T. Beauregard, a Confederate general, from City Park’s entrance.

It also called for removing the monument to the Battle of Liberty Place, commemorating attacks by members of the city’s white population against the state’s Reconstruction-era government in 1874.

Makes Absolute Sense...

And so my focus of my efforts — through the Carson Scholars foundation and in countless speeches before young inner-city audiences over the years — is to open the doors to possibility. The desire to do something provides the seed for its ultimate fruition. As a society we should, by nurturing that desire through programs and policies that invest in people, encourage them to achieve their God-given potential.

This calls for a new model in public policy that departs from the traditional progressive model. What I am advocating is that civil society — including the corporate sector, education community, the religious establishment and philanthropic institutions —invest in people, to empower them with tools in the form of education and character development, role models, and concrete pathways into productive and rewarding work.

The dilemmas of race and entrenched, intergenerational poverty have proven intractable despite the mountains of money that have been poured into solving them over the past 50 years. Moving beyond them will require a paradigm shift from focusing on attacking the problems to creating conditions that foster opportunity and growth.

Eric Erickson Disinvited The Donald to Red State Gathering...

Eric Erickson
is generally considered a voice for the right-wing fringe in conservative and GOP politics by the site. That aside Eric deserves kudos and respect for his disinviting Donald Trump to his Red State Gathering. His reasons for doing so are sound and based on common decency. Hopefully many more conservatives and right libertarians will follow Eric's lead.

Red State - I have tried to give a great deal of latitude to Donald Trump in his run for the Presidency.

He is not a professional politician and is known for being a blunt talker. He connects with so much of the anger in the Republican base and is not afraid to be outspoken on a lot of issues. But there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross.

Decency is one of those lines.

As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me.

In a CNN interview, Mr. Trump said of Megyn Kelly, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”

It was not the “blood coming out of her eyes” part that was the problem.

In those few short words Eric defined The Donald's character flaw. He is most certainly a misogynist and based on his previous comments about Mexicans a bigot and racist as well. There should be no place in the GOP (or any party) for a businessman/politician of Trump's character. He is simply a despicable and dishonest human being. For any political party to wish to be affiliated with him or his type defies logic. But as we all know there is the Tea Party fringe of the GOP who will stand by their man, and I use the term man in the loosest possible way, regardless.

Does Trump Have A Hidden Agenda?...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Brent Budowsky puts the Trump campaign anomaly in a unique but quite plausible perspective. We shall see if it comes to pass.

Tongues are wagging throughout the world of political insiders with news that former president and potential future first gentleman Bill Clinton had a great chat with Donald Trump shortly before the real estate magnate announced his candidacy for president. Could it be possible that Trump is a plant for Bill and Hillary Clinton in the presidential campaign, encouraged to run in the GOP primary in order to wreak havoc on the Republicans?

Trump has a history. He has donated substantial money, to his credit, to the Clinton Foundation. He was an important supporter of Hillary Clinton for president in 2008, and was a notable donor to her campaign that year. In the past Trump has offered very high praise for the former secretary of State — especially when he was supporting and helping to fund her presidential campaign in 2008.

To his great credit, Trump has long been a supporter of single-payer healthcare, and at various times has raved about the excellent healthcare provided by single-payer plans in two nations at the forefront of this cause. He has offered high praise for the Canadian system, and earlier this year offered similarly high praise for the single-payer system in Scotland.

The Wall Street Journal recently ran a story naming a number of Democrats in Congress to whom Trump has donated campaign money in support, most notably the next Senate Democratic leader, New York Sen. Charles Schumer. Democrats were also delighted when Trump made campaign donations in support of Nevada Sen. Harry Reid, the current Senate Democratic leader, and Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), a stalwart in the House of Representatives.

I would be remiss in not including two other names on The Wall Street Journal list of Democrats who were beneficiaries of campaign donations from Trump: The late and great Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), and former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.).

This is the context for the widely discussed conversation between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump shortly before Trump announced his candidacy. What could Trump do in the campaign that would help the Clintons the most? First, he would personally attack leading GOP candidates in 2016, using derisive language that would almost surely find its way into Hillary Clinton campaign ads if she were to become the Democratic nominee. Check that box, right? Next, Trump could deeply offend Hispanic voters who widely respect Hillary Clinton already. Check that box, too!

Similarly, if Trump tied the GOP in knots by prolonging the Republican nominating process, and prolonged the process of Republicans attacking Republicans, that would be a huge benefit for Hillary Clinton. Check that box. And to the degree that newer faces in the Republican Party who could become the strongest challengers to the Democratic nominee in November, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), found their message drowned out by Trump, the big winner would be Hillary Clinton! Check that box, too.

Keep reading HERE for the clincher.

What's your take on the Trump candidacy?

Fox News Couldn't Kill Trump’s Steamroller, May Have Unwittingly Gave the Buffoon More Steam...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

BloombergPolitics - A few hours before Thursday’s Fox News debate, a friend of Donald Trump’s confided to me that Trump was nervous. Not about the competition—he could handle them. No, Trump worried about Fox News, and in particular, debate moderator Megyn Kelly. She’d been hammering him all week on her show, and he was certain she was out to get him. He’d canceled a Fox News appearance on Monday night, the friend said, in order to avoid her. (Trump’s spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm or deny this.)

It turns out Trump was right. His toughest opponents Thursday night weren’t the candidates up on stage, but the Fox News moderators, who went right after him—none with more gusto than Kelly.

Kelly, the whip-smart queen of Fox News’ blonde stunners, went straight for the jugular. “You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” she admonished Trump. “Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

This site for one applauds the honest hard hitting question Kelly hit The Donald with. Fair, because it fairly describes Trumps prior behavior.

But Trump saw her coming a mile away and cut her off. “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” he barked, drawing cheers from the crowd. When Kelly tried to point out that he had insulted more women than O’Donnell, Trump, as he would all night, steamrolled right past her. “The big problem this country has is being politically correct,” Trump practically shouted, invoking conservatives’ favorite term of disdain. “I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness and to be honest with you this country doesn't have time either.” The crowd went wild.

Maybe they were cheering because the question was apropos of something Rachel Maddow would ask, and they were, after all, Republicans. But I think they were cheering because it was clear, at that moment, that Trump was going to be Trump, and wasn’t going to heed the pundits and phonies to tone down his act. According to a report in New York magazine, even his own daughter, Ivanka, was making that case.

When Kelly tried to point out that he had insulted more women than O’Donnell, Trump, as he would all night, steamrolled right past her..

Indeed, Trump, as he is often wont to do did steamroll over Kelly and her question. His Rosie O'Donnell quip aside Megyn Kelly is spot on and the facts are he has insulted women on other occasions. Trump simply showed himself to be the misogynist he really is. True to Tea Party proclivities the crowd ate it up.

Much of America is frankly tired of the politics of the past 15 years. Donald Trump gets that and has tapped into the anger and the darkest fears of the American people. For this reason and this reason alone he is riding at the top of opinion polls. Yet he has the temperament to insult entire cultures, women, foreign leaders, and get along very well with Vladimir Putin.

His style? Belligerence. His method? Bullying all who disagree. His rhetoric? Hyperbole with little or no substance. His wealth? Immaterial when it comes to governing a county in spite of what The Donald may think. If that is the type of individual you want to represent our nation then by all means support his candidacy. If you really want to see our country move forward deep six Trump and consider someone with brains, ability, and at least a bit of wisdom.

Dumbest Right-wing Rant Of The Day, Pre-Debate...

The Debonair Dudes World August 6, 2015 at 1:54 PM

My Rant Of The Day!
The Phenomenon of Donald Trump!

A remarkable, and extraordinary thing has happened in American politics this year. The The American people are on the verge of revolt, they have had more than they can bear of the Obama Presidency. And they looking for someone who will and can do what they have been wanted done for many years now.
Trump speaks for the “silent majority” of Americans who are frustrated with the direction that the country is going in and want it stopped right now.
Remember the speech that Richard Nixon gave when he gave reference to “The Silent Majority”? Well The Silent Majority” is back, and “we’re going to take the country back,” Trump said “We’re going to make America great again”..

Sound cute and like a preacher? Well it may, but this guy really means what he says. This guy is not a typical lying politician, this guy has a proven record of doing what he says.
And another thing, why aren’t the “Progressive” bloggers Blogging about their Democratic front-runner Hilary Clinton? And instead are on the defensive calling The Donald all these stupid names lie a “Buffoon”, “Trump is a lose cannon” ,and a “Clown” . And blogging 3 times a day about how stupid his hair looks! I’ll tell you why, because they are shitting in their pants that’s why! Even Bernie Sanders is catching up in the polls to that Lying Ugly Old Hag.
Surprised that Donald Trump has been surging in the polls? I’m not, and I’ll tell you something else, if he gets the nomination, I’ll vote for him in a flash!
Trump said something about some illegal aliens being murderers and rapists, well that’s true, isn’t it. If you don’t believe that then you haven’t been reading the newspapers lately! The Politically Correct people sounds like a bunch of preachers . They still can’t believe he said it. But it’s the truth, and the truth is what the voters want to hear (for a change) .
He has taken a lot of abuse because of that remark, NBC has ended its relationship with his Apprentice show, and his “Miss USA” and “Miss Universe” pageants for what they call “insulting Mexicans”.
Despite all the attacks from the mainstream media, the heard of 15 other Republican candidates, and the vicious attacks for the progressive lunatics, Donald Trump continues to surge in the polls, and continues to be the Front-runner..
None of that matters...his message of giving AMERICA BACK TO AMERICANS is exactly what the American voters both Right-winger and yes even Left-winger want to hear.
And a final note to all you Liberals and “Progressives”, no one ever lost an election because of a Bad Hair-style!

Pointing Out The Obvious...

Cons really haven't a clue these days. So many of them have drank so much GD Kool-Aid from the reactionary righties of the Tea Party strain in the GOP they simply have lost the ability to think critically or even carry on a semi intelligent conversation.

While thinking about the GOP kick-off debate tonight on FOX News, as well looking forward to what we believe will be a fine 1 1/2 hours of comedy, perusing extreme rightwing Tea party sites seemed in order.

It didn't take long to find a site and do the planed set-up. Getting the rut travelers on this particular weblog to go on a rant takes very little. A few well placed short sentences will do the job. As usual the screaming lunatic did not address the comment specifically, rather remarks veered to their standard talking points and without any credible source of data.

Additionally the low information attack hound went after personality rather substance. Of course this has become typical rightwing tactics for some time and the goons on the visted weblog certainly made their masters proud. Note the header on said weblog. Another typical character assassination designed by ignorant people.

Now for the snapshot beginning with the plant comment.

Or is it that you don’t want to be connected with or associated with that other bunch of deluded bi-polar bunch of Low Life Lefties with their criminal activities the "Occupy" protesters!
To sum it up, nobody's buying the crap that you libs are selling anymore. Obama’s a failed president, and it ain’t Bush’s fault anymore! Get used to it.
But thanks for the chuckle “Preacher” Dave Miller, thanks for starting my day off with a good, and hardy laugh.. in today’s world, we need to step back once in a while and have a good laugh, either that or a good shot of Bourbon. We read so many blogs where the people are willing to tell lies and fabricate information to support their liberal causes, and you Reverend Miller only add to the mix. .

Why do lefty morons keep calling these criminals illegal immigrants, the correct term is illegal criminal aliens.

As we see, nothing even remotely argues against the main point of the plant comment. Turning the light on Barack Obama and another decent and intelligent blogger (Dave Miller) was the response of the first two to comment following the plant post. Of course it is exactly as expected because the looney goons and sock puppets who gather on this rightwing site have no intelligent and factual rebuttal. They never do and the same is true on many, many, many rightwing (reactionary) sites of the Tea Party crowd.

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

A certain segment of American society and the body politic has accepted being bamboozled for so long now it just "feels right to them and therefore nothing needs to be questioned. Perusing the visited weblog (linked to above) and visiting some of the sites it links to gives a vivid picture of the fringe right lunacy. Here is a bonus link that is worth pursuing and checking out the sites it links as well.

HRC or Jeb Bush? For Some It Makes No Difference...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

It is not at all surprising actually. Wealthy donors, and there are many of these in both the republican and democratic camps, really do not care whether a fellow wealthy candidate is a republican or a democrat as long as the candidate is all in for supporting the wealthy donors interests, business or otherwise. In fact some will donate heavily the republican and democratic party candidates they feel is most likely to favor their interests.

It is no secret that big money rules and when it comes to politics big money influences election outcomes. In other words while people think they have a real choice the truth is the choices are pretty much picked for you and really there much that can be done about it.

For some wealthy donors, it doesn’t matter who takes the White House in 2016—as long as the president’s name is Clinton or Bush.

More than 60 ultra-rich Americans have contributed to both Jeb Bush’s and Hillary Clinton’s federal campaigns, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission data by Vocativ and The Daily Beast. Seventeen of those contributors have gone one step further and opened their wallets to fund both Bush’s and Clinton’s 2016 ambitions.

After all, why support just Hillary Clinton or just Jeb Bush when you can hedge your bets and donate to both? This seems to be the thinking of a group of powerful men and women—racetrack owners, bankers, media barons, chicken magnates, hedge funders (and their spouses). Some of them have net worths that can eclipse the GDPs of small countries.

Larry Noble, senior counsel for the Campaign Legal Center, told The Daily Beast that it’s a common practice among a small number of people.

“Some of them will say they believe in the process, but the truth is you usually see them giving to people who will be most helpful to them if [the politician] gets into office,” he said. “They are not necessarily Republicans or Democrats, they are business people first.”

Some of them said personal connections are driving the double donations. Many work in industries that depend on the federal government for their continued operation. A few have had brushes with the law. One donor said he’s soured on Hillary, and is now on Team Jeb. Another claimed that he gave to Clinton by mistake.

John Tyson, chairman of Tyson Foods, is a long-time—and promiscuous—political player. This year alone, his company spent half a million dollars lobbying Congress on everything from immigration reform and fuel taxes to food safety regulations. He himself has given $25,000 each to the political action committees supporting Clinton’s and Bush’s 2016 candidacies, according to the data parsed by Vocativ.

Machine Gun Bacon...

This imbecile wants America to vote for him to be the next president.

Does anything else need be said?

Troubled Waters For HRC...

In the first three months of the year, suburban women by a margin of 18 points had a positive view of Mrs. Clinton. In July, those numbers took a dramatic turn for the worse. By a five-point margin, suburban women had a negative view of Mrs. Clinton.

Among white women with at least a college degree, 51% had a positive view of Mrs. Clinton and 38% a negative as of June. In July, those numbers had turned to 43% positive and 47% negative.

Planned Parenthood and the National Rifle Association Have Higher Favorability Ratings than Political Parties or Presidential Candidates...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Interesting polling numbers from NBC NEWS. Both Planned Parenthood and the National Rifle Association have higher favorability ratings than either party or any candidate running for their parties nomination or the office of the president.

Yet neither Planned Parenthood or the NRA have a favorable rating of 50% or higher.

Negative politics and negative campaigning coupled with growing cynicism within the American public accounts for much of what we are seeing.

Regardless of what some might say, both political parties, the media, and the many special interest groups vying for favored status are responsible for the cynicism griping the country.

Nothing will change until the American people demand it. That we fear is a very long way off...

The survey comes as Planned Parenthood has been under intense scrutiny after an anti-abortion group released a series of undercover videos that picture Planned Parenthood officials detailing how they facilitate the use of tissue from aborted fetuses for medical research purposes. The NRA is perennially in the spotlight after mass shootings like the July 24 attack in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Unsurprisingly, there is a sharp partisan divide in how both organizations are rated.

The road back to a positive national mood and a contagious optimism is, if it is taken at all, going to be a long and arduous one given the man made obstacles.

Three in four Latinos say they have a negative view of Donald Trump, and more than half believe that his comments about Mexican immigrants were racist and inappropriate, according to a new NBC News/ Wall Street Journal/ Telemundo poll.

The poll of 250 Latinos found that 75 percent view the real estate mogul and GOP presidential front-runner unfavorably, with 61 percent saying that their view of him is "very negative." Just 13 percent of respondents said they have a positive view of Trump.

Government Shutdown Now Likely...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

It's looking more and more like a government shutdown may be imminent. As usual there are the defense-vs-domestic funding differences with republicans heavy on defense light on domestic and democrats heavy on both. Of course the administration is threatening veto if certain conditions are not met to their satisfaction. It is likely the stage will be set by the players of the game so finger pointing and innuendo can and will be a part of the process.

All that aside the big issue that was needed to galvanize forces on both sides of the aisle so that the a government shut down became a greater likelihood than not surfaced recently and is summarized below.

Republicans are vowing with ever-increasing vehemence to vote against legislation – including a CR — that includes funding for Planned Parenthood and that means that a continuing resolution that simply extends existing funding at current levels won’t be acceptable to the GOP majorities in the House and Senate. The House and Senate Republican leadership could cobble together a coalition with the moderate members of their own caucus and Democrats, but they would do so by placing themselves and their members in extreme political peril.

This will be more of a problem in the Senate where the four senators running for the GOP presidential nomination will likely fight each other to lead the filibuster that prevents a CR that funds Planned Parenthood from being debated. Given the very little time left before the start of the fiscal year, that filibuster alone could lead to at least a quick shutdown (Fiscal 2016 starts on a Thursday so a short-term shutdown over the two days leading to the weekend plus Saturday and Sunday is certainly possible).

So once again we find the republican party out of step with mainstream America and using a politically charge issue to hold the budget process hostage unless it gets its own way. Of course on the other side democrats, who are more in step with mainstream America are prepared to filibuster in the senate and bill that defends Planned Parenthood.

It's all political drama folks and in the end, after the red meat has been tossed out and duly consumed by the base, a compromise will be struck, the government will be funded, and life will go on. Of course the three ring circus that is the republican presidential field will continue to be the spotlight of American attention.

The Donald Importing Foreign Labor While Running On Claim He'll Protect American Jobs...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

The Donald has been talking about how if elected president he would protect (save) American jobs. Of course The Donald has not been clear on exactly how he would accomplish this; in fact he has given absolutely no specifics at all. From Reuters we learn just what The Donald has been up to with respect to filling jobs within his own companies.

Donald Trump is staking his run for U.S. president in part on a vow to protect American jobs. But this month, one of his companies, the elite Mar-a-Lago Club resort in Florida, applied to import 70 foreign workers to serve as cooks, wait staff and cleaners.

A Reuters analysis of U.S. government data reveals that this is business as usual in the New York property magnate's empire.

Trump owns companies that have sought to import at least 1,100 foreign workers on temporary visas since 2000, according to U.S. Department of Labor data reviewed by Reuters. Most of the applications were approved, the data show.

Nine companies majority-owned by Trump have sought to bring in foreign waitresses, cooks, vineyard workers and other laborers on temporary work-visa programs administered by the Labor Department.

The candidate's foreign talent hunt included applications for an assistant golf-course superintendent, an assistant hotel manager and a banquet manager.

Two of his companies, Trump Model Management and Trump Management Group LLC, have sought visas for nearly 250 foreign fashion models, the records show.

Trump’s presidential campaign and a lawyer for the businessman declined to comment. The Mar-a-Lago Club could not be reached for comment.

The analysis of Trump's history of actively importing foreign workers comes as he has emerged as an early front-runner in the race for the Republican nomination in the November 2016 presidential election. Trump has positioned himself as a champion of American workers whose livelihoods are threatened by illegal foreign laborers and the offshoring of U.S. jobs

“I will be the greatest jobs president that God every created," he said in announcing his candidacy on June 16. "I will bring back our jobs from China, Mexico and other places. I will bring back jobs and our money."

Trump generated both notoriety and buzz by singling out Mexican immigrants in the United States. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best," he said in the speech. "They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists."

In a speech on July 11, Trump distinguished between those working legally and illegally in the United States, saying thousands of "legal" Mexicans - "incredible people" - have worked for him over the years.

The Labor Department records don't specify the nationality of the foreign workers sought by companies. But Trump could be bringing many Mexican workers into the United States.

Reuters examined records of applications for three categories of temporary work visas - the H-2A, H-2B and H-1B programs - submitted by employers to the Labor Department.

The Donald, aside from being a bombastic narcissist and basically an totally self serving individual, is also a goddamn hypocrite
