Trump Supporters (as well as others) Still Hold President Obama Is A Muslin, Not Born In The USA...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Our new poll finds that Trump is benefiting from a GOP electorate that thinks Barack Obama is a Muslim and was born in another country, and that immigrant children should be deported. 66% of Trump's supporters believe that Obama is a Muslim to just 12% that grant he's a Christian. 61% think Obama was not born in the United States to only 21% who accept that he was. And 63% want to amend the Constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship, to only 20% who want to keep things the way they are.

Trump's beliefs represent the consensus among the GOP electorate. 51% overall want to eliminate birthright citizenship. 54% think President Obama is a Muslim. And only 29% grant that President Obama was born in the United States. That's less than the 40% who think Canadian born Ted Cruz was born in the United States.

Trump's supporters aren't alone in those attitudes though. Only among supporters of John Kasich (58/13), Jeb Bush (56/18), Chris Christie (59/33), and Marco Rubio (42/30) are there more people who think President Obama was born in the United States than that he wasn't.

Trump, a birther himself, and the dude that blustered about presenting a YOOOOOGE surprise about President Obama back in October 2012, a surprise that never materialized by the way, must have convinced a large number of low information folks of his idiotic birtherism.

  1. Eliminating birthright citizenship would require a constitutional amendment.

With just 51% of one party supporting this it's not going to fly.

  2. A report out today says more GOP folks believe Obama was born in another country than believe Cruz was born in another country, which he actually admits to...

    How is that even possible?

And where are the conservatives who said Obama, based on being born in another country, was ineligible to be president, when is comes to Cruz? He admits to being born elsewhere, so everyone of those people should be opposing his candidacy. Yet all we hear is crickets...

    1. I guess.....

      1) I think BHO was born in Hawaii.
      2) Even if he were born in Kenya, it would not matter to me. and I would support him remaining in office in the face of a challenge based on birth status.
      3) I don't think he is a Muslim (something that always comes up with the birther thing!)
      4) And, again, even if he were, I would support him remaining in office. Unlike the birth status thing (which isn't true anyway), this would require no government action:the Bill of Rights fully protects him as a Muslim no more and no less than if he were of any other faith, or lack of one.

I guess I am really out of touch with Republicans.

  5. How about Trump recently bashing Jeb Bush for knowing and using Spanish? I'd love to see Jeb ask Tearump debate question in Spanish. WTG, Donald... you actually managed to make Jeb look good!

Trump and the Tearumplicans are a celebration of ignorance, xenophobia and nativism. I hate all of the above. I supported Reagan's amnesty program and I support Obama's DREAM Act. And I support the Bush family embracing the country's great Hispanic Americans.

Spanish was spoken on the shores long before English was.

Waiting for something to happen like Trump confronting a Navajo native speaker and telling him to learn English or go home.

  6. What about the "fatherer" conspiracy theory that says Trump's pop was an orangutan? Might be something to this, as Trump dropped his lawsuit against Bill Maher. Perhaps Trump didn't want the truth of his parentage to come out... which it would have if the lawsuit had went forward?

  7. DMarks... on some of the more "conservative' blogs, JEB is getting beat for pandering with his Spanish and using a language that is not American.

Seriously... and they wonder why they are struggling to connect with Latinos...

Maybe it is a question of tone, as Nikki Haley suggested...

“The problem for our party is that our approach often appears cold and unwelcoming to minorities,” she said. “That’s shameful and that has to change. . . . It’s on us to communicate our positions in ways that wipe away the clutter of prejudices.”

    1. Dave, I first found out about Jeb's Spanish statement, in a very negative light, on one of those conservative blogs.
