Rubio Cultivating His Place With the Religous Right...

Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

For those of you who understand why our founders were in favor of the separation of church and state that resulted in the Establishment Clause no further explanation as to why one should be very leery of Marco Rubio and his fellow travelers is necessary. For those who do not understand the concern our forefathers and founders had with religion {church}informing secular law it would be advisable to brush up on the subject.

Christianity's 'Real and Present Danger'

Today, his deep faith drives public policy positions on social issues such as traditional marriage.

"If you think about it, we are at the water's edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech," Rubio told CBN News. "Because today we've reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage you are labeled a homophobe and a hater."

"So what's the next step after that?" he asked.

"After they are done going after individuals, the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church is hate speech and there's a real and present danger," he warned.

Rubio said he's ready to face danger, here and around the world.

"You don't want to be engaged in every conflict on the planet. We're not the world's policemen," he said. "But I question - what would happen in the alternative? If America doesn't lead, what happens? Well, what happens is chaos."

... As for president, he'll leave that up to the American people and almighty God.

"Ultimately my view of it is you go out and do the very best you can and ultimately it's going to turn out the way voters and God decide," he said.

Listen to Marco Rubio's own words.

Hear him on the 700 Club with further commentary.

What sets this democratic republic apart from theocratic republics is the Establishment Clause and people of reason will damn well want to insure it remains the law of the land. Especially in light of Clarence Thomas' view that it applies only to the Federal Constitution. Be very, very frightened by this mentality. It now has a strong undercurrent in America's body politic and the result, should ever become dominate, will puh us back to an era of intolerance and bigotry most believed long since gone.

  1. Why would anyone believe there is a division between church and state. The country was founded on religious freedom yet the laws are based on religious ideals. Abortion, gay rights, monogamy are all based on religious belief. There is nothing to indicate religion will not play a part in governing the country for decades to come.

Most presidents pandered to the religious faction of voters, except the current potus. Carter and his Baptist Bible thumping, JFK and the Pope even BJ and H were seen going to church for political purposes.

How would you expect Rubio to answer questions on the 700 club, declare that America is not a Christian nation. He said the voters would decide what is best, that would sure be a change. So far Rubio is the only candidate who makes any sense regardless of his religious bent.

  2. I suggest you read the Establishment Clause with a eye to actually trying to understand why it is we actually have the Establishment Clause. If you are unable to do so continue on. The enlightened and liberal founders where way smarter than the religionists of today.

BTW, it is Bill Clinton dude, as I doubt you meant Bill Jefferson.

Rubio like Ted Cruz and Huckabee would be a huge mistake. Rand Paul is one we could live with.

  3. He goes by Bill now William.
I am very familiar with the Establishment Clause. If it were followed as intended there would be a division between church and state which there is not.

Paul has some lucid moments but then he goes off the deep end.

  4. His name is William Jefferson Clinton, and you no doubt realize Bill is a nickname, one which many Williams use. Your trite, childish reference to him as BJ is just that, trite and childish and everyone understands the reference.

Well, if you are very familiar with the Establishment Clause then you realize you are just blowing smoke, and talking BS.

If the Establishment Clause were understood by the Christian fundamentalists and religionists in general all this current bullsh*t over same sex marriages, reproductive rights, idiotic talk about states having the right to establish state religions (Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas), and other attempts to force Christian fundamentalism on us all would be mute.

At the moment fundamentalists, religionists in general, and you succeed in forcing your erroneous and evil interpretation of the Establishment Clause down the throats of the rest of use you WILL fought tooth and nail and you WILL loose.

Rand Paul has more sense in his pinky than the other three have combined in total.

  5. Some very Religious Right sounding statements from the Christian Randal Paul...

"The First Amendment says keep government out of religion. It doesn't say keep religion out of government."

"I believe we may be able to save millions of lives, and do no harm, by allowing states to pass their own anti-abortion laws."

"life begins at conception [and] it is the government's duty to protect life as defined in our Constitution."

  7. Yup, Rand does have areas of weakness just like the others mentioned. In my viw he would be by far less divisive and less damaging than the others. Just ad Paul is not the complete candidate for all neither is anyone else. It goes without saying the same for the democratic candidates as well.

Santorum just jumped in. Should liven the debate and controversies. Have fun DSL.

  8. Bernie Sanders is the complete/perfect candidate from my point of view. I cannot think of a single issue I disagree with him on. He is 100 percent with the 99 percent... Which is why many on the Right do not like him, given the fact that many (if not all) Republicans and Libertarians stand with the 1 percent in opposition to the 99 Percent (this is my opinion and I am sure Les will not agree).

  9. Perhaps Dervish can find work as a Sanders campaign aid and spokesperson .

It matters not whether Les agrees, disagrees, or is indifferent on the subject of a Sanders Presidency. It only matters what the American people think.

Les shall neither advocate for or speak loudly against Sanders. He is at least straight forward and speaks truth as he sees it, right or wrong.

  10. I'm ordering my Bernie Sanders yard signs as we speak.
