Efforts to Stop Extention of the Patriot Act...

Kudos to All Participating Websites
Thousands of websites are blocking Congress’s access to their sites in a show of force to protest the Patriot Act.

Led by the online activist group Fight for the Future, more than 10,000 sites have added code that redirects any visitors from Internet protocol (IP) addresses from Congress away from their site and towards a protest page.


“Congress: This is a blackout,” the site reads. “We are blocking your access until you end mass surveillance laws.”

Instead of renewing or reforming the three expiring provisions of the Patriot Act, the activist group wants Congress to let them expire.

“The real answer is to end all authorities used to conduct mass surveillance,” Fight for the Future says on the protest page. “Until you do, thousands of websites have blocked your access, and more are joining every day.”

    I hope this doesn't just piss them off. I'm glad these guys are taking a stand, though. Very happy with Rand Paul and Ron Wyden on this.

      I don't want the Patriot Act at all. In fact, we should ban all national security laws with the word "patriot" in the title, because it always designates something really, really bad.

      Patriotism, properly understood and practiced is fine. All too often patriot and patriotism is synonomous nationalism in its worst sense. The Patriot Act falls into the latter IMO.

      That may be Jerry, and I'm sure those who would run roughshod over the constitution to establish a state religion consider themselves very patriotic. But neither that or the Patriot Act is patriotic really. So yeah Jerry you are right.

The good news is unemployment fell to a four year low, certainly at year six in Obama's Presidential tenure strikes a positive note. Or does it? At the same time the number of people employed part time rose as well as strong indications are showing the Affordable Care Act (ACA aka ObamaCare) will have a long term negative impact on the USA economy. The following is an interesting analysis and one that certainly has some credibility.
