Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

Bernie Sanders' Facebook page; of course he is absolutely correct. Yeah, we know; at one time this site came out in favor of Citizens United. An initial error in judgment. Call it a brain fart if you prefer. Our republic is slowly being destroyed by special interest monies as oligarchs and plutocrats slowly impose their agendas on the governed.

  1. I was opposed to this ruling in favor of the plutocrats from day one. A ruling some view as upholding the Constitutional right of rich people to buy more free speech than the rest of us.

  2. Orwell's observation, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others", seems to
apply to just about any political system out of control.

    1. It certainly appears so BB Idaho. Has there ever been a political system that hasn't run amok at some point? Perhaps it is too much to expect otherwise.

  3. It would help if the churches got behind applied morality in the public sphere instead of fussing over divisive nonsense. When the church has gotten behind positive social change, things have gone very well. I guess they're just as bought as our pols these days.

  4. You mean like reproductive rights, gay rights, and obsessing about religious freedoms Jersey?

  5. I believe Jersey refers to social justice. The current pope, I believe, is doing a decent job advocating in that area, to the dislike of american conservatives. I can't imagine many Libertarians are that keen on the pope's "redistribution to help the parasites" messsage either.

Les should consider voting for Bernie Sanders, IMO. I mean, he doesn't like Hillary, and I doubt any of the Republicans he previously mentioned will run. And he previously expressed support for the un-libertarian "benevolent capitalism". Or he could cast his ballot on principal and throw away his vote on the Libertarian again...

  6. Les will vote for who HE damn well pleases. Dervish can vote for who HE damn well pleases.

In the meantime Les will speak to what HE damn well pleases.

Not that support for singular issues by a particular candidate does not get s vore from Les.

Dervish is correct, at this juncture no GOP candidate has Les' s support, however many have positions on singular issues Les agrees with.

No one is right 100% of the time and neither is anyone wrong 100% of the time.

And Sanders, who apparently only wishes to be always the contrarian and push buttons will be ignored in the future.

BTW Dervish, rest assured Les will vote Libertarian if that is what Les' s final decision is. And, by all means vote for whomever YOU wish.

Now, Les has much more important and rewarding things to do other than entertaining Dervish.

  7. There are some who seek validation and satisfaction by completely converting others to the entirety of their views, and do not accept any partial agreement or even a consensus. And watching such, it is less like a rational conversation and more like a proselytization attempt. With one-sided zeal like with a religion.

    1. PRECISELY! Those with such mindsets are the type who often, although not always, would be totalitarian if ever in a
      posistion of authority or power.

    2. I've never "converted" anyone, nor would I try. Les' buttons are pressed very easily. Even when the supposed button presser isn't even trying. YOU are the one who authored a commentary in agreement with Senator Sanders.

    3. Thankfully you have never converted anyone.

And it is YOU whose buttons are easily pushed.

      Good day.

  8. AYUP too! Bernie is probably the only presidential candidate willing to say this.

    1. Jerry, at this point I am willing to at least listen to Bernie on this, also.

    2. Clearly, the existing system is not in the general public's interest. Bernie's solution may not be perfect, but it is definitely an improvement. Waiting for perfection, is a prescription for getting nothing done. Listening is a start, but only action will accomplish anything, and getting the congress to do anything to change the existing election finance system in any meaningful way, is not on the near horizon. Most congress persons are locked into the existing system.
