The Color Of Presidential Suits and What they Signify, By Rep. Peter King...

President Obama in his dapper tan suit looking very fasionable

I don't know about you'all but I for one have absolutely no issue with the President in his stylish tan threads. A little envious perhaps, not being able to afford such fine attire, but a President should look good right?

Apparently one, a republican as expected, has a major problem with it and made a big to do over it.

BuzzFeed - Republican Rep. Peter King of New York is no fan of tan. The conservative member of Congress from Long Island blasted President Obama for wearing “a light suit, light tan suit” to talk about the threat of ISIS on Thursday.

“There’s no way any of us can excuse what the president did yesterday,” King said of President Obama on NewsMaxTV. “When you have the world watching… a week, two weeks of anticipation of what the United States is gonna do. For him to walk out — I’m not trying to be trivial here — in a light suit, light tan suit, saying that first he wants to talk about what most Americans care about the revision of second quarter numbers on the economy. This is a week after Jim Foley was beheaded and he’s trying to act like real Americans care about the economy, not about ISIS and not about terrorism. And then he goes on to say he has no strategy.”

King said Obama’s comments and actions showed “foreign policy was not a major issue” for President Obama.

Yep, when ya ain't got squat of importance in your little mind talk suits. Especially the color. OyeVey!!!

  1. I understand King criticizing what Obama said, but why include the color of his suit? King does himself no favors with such remarks.

  2. It's that Ol' Darktown Strutter Effect that bothers Mr. King. You may be unaware of symbolism and insensitive to the subtle influences Design has on the way audiences receive theatrical presentations, but I assure you wearing what-we-always-called an Ice Cream Suit during a pubic presentation after the horrendous events we've experienced this summer constitutes a no-so-subtle mental thumbing of Obama's nose at all of us.

How would you have felt if he had made his speech wearing his golfing attire -- or in a bathing suit? The "Ice Cream Suit" -- something I've never seen him wear before -- is not ery far from either.

For people who know and care about such things light elegant attire of his sort is meant to be worn at cocktails on the verandas of exclusive country clubs during summer getaways from the serious business of the world.

Even in this careless age of Anything Goes, anything still does NOT go when it comes to the behavior of heads of state. The Ice Cream Suit was deliberate slap in the face of Propriety.

Obama as Jay Gatsby doesn't cut it anymore than Jay Gatsby, himself, did when trying to impress the careless, cruel members of the Upper Echelons of New York's High Society.

  3. A well stated opinion. Of course for us uneducated peons lacking your sublime nuanced perspective we will simple continue to stumble along in blissful ignorance.

BTW, your comparing President Obama to Jay Gatsby is a smooth move.

Personally I prefer a licorice pinstriped but don't tell anybody.

  4. BTW FreeThinke, we practice here what you preach there. You ought to try it more often. You might even grow to like it. My view, your call of course.

  5. I always thought that King was a decent guy but this is OUT THERE!!!

  6. King is a wing ding Will. I believe he's one of those who may be hearing little voices inside his head.

  7. Rep. King is one of the worst hypocrite loons. from his direct and impassioned support of terrorists.

  8. BTW, the internet is full of photographs of many presidents, including Ronald Reagan, wearing tan suits on serious occasions.

Criticize Mr. Obama on his policies and his actions. Fine. But having a US Representative actually comment on Mr. Obama's suit is beyond ridiculous.

  9. "...but I assure you wearing what-we-always-called an Ice Cream Suit during a pubic presentation after the horrendous events we've experienced this summer constitutes a no-so-subtle mental thumbing of Obama's nose at all of us."

Really? I think that's in the minds only of those who take offense at this man even when he breathes. Let it go! There's something desperately wrong with people who can't even see a president in a tan suit without going on as though he had committed a crime.

"How would you have felt if he had made his speech wearing his golfing attire -- or in a bathing suit? The "Ice Cream Suit" -- something I've never seen him wear before -- is not ery far from either."

But he didn't make that speech wearing golf attire or a bathing suit. That's rabble-rousing. We are perfectly aware of your visceral dislike of this man. Get him on policy and ideas, piling on because of his suit is just, well, IMO, a waste of time and childish.

BTW, speaking of "Ice Cream Suits."

    And this, too.

So Ronald Reagn wore Ice Cream Suits -- OFTEN. But since he's a hero of the right, no prob!

    We are silly people.

  10. Is having a US Representative (R) make a comment about the President's suit any worse than a Democratic senator pontificating about a nominee's beard during US Supreme Court nomination hearings? hmmmm. At least King was making off the cuff comments as a private citizen, and wasn't entering his inane musings into the Congressional register like Heflin was.

  11. I'm still trying to count the stars in his mandatory flag pin.

  12. Not sure why, BB, but I've eaten 5 or 6 triple-scoop vanilla ice cream cones since RN posted this.
