Republicans Proving Once Again How To Grasp At Straws and Demonstrate Ineptitude...

Republican Speaker of the House Boehner proving to be the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's best resource for raising money. Pointing out yet again the abject level of incompetency and political tone deafness the party is sorely afflicted with of late. Don't hold your breath republicans, conservatives, libertarians, and Tea Party folks for much better any time soon.

POLITICO  - Speaker John Boehner’s announcement that House Republicans would sue President Barack Obama for misusing executive authority turned into a big payday for congressional Democrats.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee posted its best fundraising day of the year on Wednesday, bringing in $584,000, according to figures shared with POLITICO.

“The only jobs that John Boehner and House Republicans have created are for partisan lawyers to sue the president and our grassroots supporters are already holding them accountable,” said Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.). “The hypocrisy here is stunning: President Bush issued many more executive orders than President Obama and Boehner didn’t make a peep. This is just another stunt from the most unpopular Republican Congress in history.”

That figure is $100,000 more than the DCCC’s previous record one-day haul for the year, which occurred back in February when it was announced House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan would release a 2015 budget plan. The DCCC raised slightly more than $460,000 then.

The donations on Wednesday stemmed from roughly 27,000 online donations. The vast majority came in the form of small donations under $200. A DCCC aide said that 7,885 of the donations were from first-time donors.
The DCCC has consistently bested its GOP-counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee, in monthly fundraising totals. In May, the DCCC brought in $7.3 million to the NRCC’s $6 million.

Boehner’s office has yet to outline what specific executive orders or actions the House will pursue in its lawsuit against Obama but pledged a floor vote in July after the Rules Committee tackles the legislation.

House Republicans have argued that Obama is misusing his executive powers by side-stepping Congress on immigration and other policies, including a decision to extend family leave to same-sex couples. A memo sent to the GOP conference by Boehner on Wednesday mentioned executive actions on health care, energy, foreign policy and education, but did not delve into specific orders.

Most assuredly a ase of grasping at straws.

  1. It's like how the real threats of firearm confiscation from the Left (Cuomo, etc) don't result in any firearms being confiscated, but instead cause gun sales to soar.

    Unintended consequences....

    1. Ever noticed gun sales also soar every time a class of elementary kids get slaughtered, a nutcase shoots a congresswoman in the face, or when Wayne Lapierre farts? Invest in that industry, dmarks, then whisper, 'did you see the ammo store is out of 22?"

    2. Yes, and this happens because the ill-intentioned anti-second-amendment crowd smiles at such disasters and pushes for legislation to steal the guns of law-abiding citizens. Sends a message of "buy the guns before that right is crushed."

    3. Interesting POV. I'll continue to blame the NRA, and SCOTUS for nullifying the 'well regulated militia cause' and replacing it with 'all nutcases should have as many weapons as possible...it says so in the constitution'. I won't lower myself though to complain that
the 'ill-intentioned pro second amendment crowd smiles at mass killings'; no one does, and
the rational among us should seek solutions.

    4. Proposing solutions as Congress did when many tried to gleefully take advantage of the Ct shooting... solutions which would not have prevented that incident.... is not "rational". And, I repeat, ill-intentioned. Extremely so.

I do not own firearms, but I do not have an irrational fear of those of sound mind and clear record who do choose to own them.

The SCOTUS has not nullified the "well regulated militia clause".There are thousands of laws, still in place....

There is indeed vast agreement, BB, on keeping guns from "nutcases". But stealing guns from people who are not criminals, not notcases, as Cuomo and others have proposed is far more controversial.

    5. I'm not aware of Cuomo proposing any such thing.

  2. This lawsuit is such a stupid idea that even the National Review's Andrew McCarthy thinks that the speaker has lost it. That's saying something.
