Texas Tea and Things Imagined...

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Having tired of the religious right's fanaticism and the rabid left's fanaticism, while arguing for reasonable and reasoned positions for reproductive rights for women and at the same time arguing to recognize the right of a viable fetus to continue life, it is clear to me this debate will continue into the next century and possibly beyond.

So, this being my last post on the issue I leave you with the insanity.

Just minutes after a House panel Wednesday passed a package of sweeping abortion restrictions, Reps. Donna Howard, a Democrat, and Steve Toth and Bill Zedler, both Republicans, got into an interesting and at times heated discussion. This happened right after several House Republicans held an impromptu presser in the back of the hearing room following an 8-3 partly line vote to pass House Bill 2. Howard, who joined Democratic colleagues in a presser of their own, was still hanging around the hearing room and jumped right into the scrum

If you would like to take the time to read the text you can find it here.

The last thing I'll say about this issue is: BOTH THE RABID LEFT and WING NUT RIGHT are WRONG.

  1. What does a "rabid left wing" have to do with any of this?

    1. Well jmj, If you haven't figured it out by now it is likely you never will. That would make you part of the problem rather than part or the solution.

    2. Jersey: is there such thing as a person that is "too far" left wing? Looking forward to your answer.

  2. I can't even imagine why the adjective "rabid" would apply to the left at all. The left can often be a little unrealistic, pie-eyed, or naggy. But "rabid"???

Anyway, I don't see the left wing asking for anything here other than rights and liberty.

    1. Of course you wouldn't. Hint, late term and partial birth abortion advocates, or perhaps I should say those who "wink and nod." They are rabidly rabid and they do exist.

"So, this being my last post on the issue I leave you with the insanity."

I find no point in discussing the issue any further. Reason is not something the rabid right wingers or the rabid left wingers are interested in. I see no purpose in pissing against the wind any longer.

      Have a nice evening.

The thread remains open for anyone who wishes to comment.

  3. Les, I can't believe you fall for that "late term and partial birth abortion" stupidity. Have you ever actually looked at the subject?

You mean barbaric practices not fit for a civilized society? You never disappoint, Jersey.

    2. What a shame.

Late-term abortions are rare, and legally speaking, only occur because of a very serious medical problem. The whole "late-term" "partial-birth" abortion debate is just nasty sleaze from the scumbag religious right. These sleazy scumbags take advantage of medical privacy to invent an issue to rrile up the rightwing rabble. I can't believe you, Les, would fall for such sleazy nonsesne.

  4. The consequences of total ban on abortion:

"SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — The case of a pregnant 11-year old girl who was raped in Chile by her mother’s partner has set off a national debate about abortion in one of the most socially-conservative countries in Latin America.

Chileans were outraged on Friday after state TV reported that the girl is 14 weeks pregnant and was raped repeatedly over two years. Police in the remote southern city of Puerto Montt arrested her mother’s partner, who confessed to abusing the fifth grader. The case was brought to their attention by the pregnant child’s maternal grandmother.

Doctors say the girl’s life and that of the fetus are at high risk. But in Chile, ending the pregnancy is not an option.

Chile allowed abortions for medical reasons until they were outlawed in 1973 by Gen. Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship. The current government of conservative President Sebastian Pinera has opposed any loosening of the prohibition."

  5. The whole point in the above linked article is that state Rep. Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) just makes up crap when all empirical data contradicts him. In this case, "anecdote" is merely a polite word for "fiction," or how about just plain lying.
