Obama Administration Back Door Policy on Immigration...

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

As the Obama administrations continues to find ways to circumvent enforcing sensible immigration policy. Apparently it is significantly more important (at least to Obama and his Obamabots) to find backdoor avenues to allow illegals to remain the country taxing our health system, taking jobs from American citizens, and in general further threatening the nations economic security.

I decided upon seeing the flurry of activity at Memeorandum over this issue to bring a sampling to Rational Nation USA.

The Hill - The Obama administration announced Friday it will stop deporting illegal immigrants who come to the country at a young age.

The politically charged decision comes as Obama faces a tough reelection fight against Republican Mitt Romney, with Hispanic voters in swing states seen as a key bloc.

The change in policy could allow as many as 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally not only to remain in the country without fear of being deported, but to work legally, according to a senior administration official speaking to reporters Friday.

Obama is set to make a statement at 1:15 p.m. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the new policy Friday morning.

“Young people who were brought to the United States through no fault of their own as children, who meet several key criteria, will no longer be removed from the country or entered into removal proceedings,” said Napolitano in a conference call with reporters on Friday morning.

“This grant of deferred action is not immunity, it is not amnesty, it is an exercise of discretion so that these young people are not in the removal system," she said. {Read More}

The Washington Times - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agency charged with guarding the U.S. borders, has written a secret draft policy that would let its agents catch and release low-priority illegal immigrants rather than bring them in for processing and prosecution.

The policy, which has not been signed off on, would be the latest move by the Obama administration to set new priorities for the nation’s immigration services, and would bring CBP in line with other Homeland Security Department agencies that already use such “prosecutorial discretion.”

The policy was detailed in an internal memo obtained by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith and reviewed by The Washington Times, which confirmed the document.

According to the memo, the draft policy “provides circumstances when to pursue enforcement actions … and includes detailed discussion of several factors CBP personnel should consider when exercising discretion.”

Opponents say it amounts to another “backdoor amnesty” for illegal immigrants and could give the administration a tool to pressure Border Patrol agents not to pursue some people.

“Rather than allow Border Patrol agents to do their job, the Obama administration instead would like them to roll out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants,” Mr. Smith said. “This ‘catch and release’ policy undermines border security, our immigration system, and CBP’s mission.”

Those favoring a crackdown say that amounts to a de facto amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, while immigrant rights groups say he is setting records for deportations and that too many illegal immigrants without extensive criminal histories are being caught. {Read More}

Certainly it is an election year, and back doors are opening. Hm, can't help wonder what the Chicago Gangster in Chief is really thinking...

Update: The President's recent back door executive order granting amnesty (which is precisely what it is) to illegals can, and should be open to intense questioning aA WELL AS criticism.

However, The Daily Caller journalist that interrupted the President during his Press statement stepped over the line. His action was an egregious breech of decorum as well as displaying outright disrespect for the President and the office he holds. Were I Tucker Carlson this sad excuse for a reporter would be standing in the unemployment line come Monday 6/18/12.

the Atlantic - Interrupting the president mid-speech is considered a serious breach of etiquette, and Obama's reaction shows how peeved (and probably taken aback) he was. Munro, and the Daily Caller, have immediately come in for harsh criticism by a wide range of journalists, including conservative ones. The problem isn't that Munro was asking tough questions; it's that he interrupted the commander-in-chief to ask them and in doing so guaranteed that none of the assembled press would be able to ask any serious questions -- since it's fairly clear that Munro's query was intended as provocation. {Full Text}

  1. You make it sound like Obama did this for political purposes instead of humanitarian. I am sure he would never suggest this just to increase his standings with the Latin community.

    Since the wording is that this is not amnesty or immunity congress does not have to approve it and as soon as the election is over, he can say the law applies now.

    What a man of the people he is. Throwing aside the unemployed Americans to help 800,000 illegals find jobs, that is truly heartwarming.

  2. Republican legislators would not act (this legislation has been around a while) so the president did. It's not a matter of agreeing, or disagreeing with the legislation, it's a matter of acting, getting something done, doing something, which the Republican House will not. I hope if the do nothing House continues to do nothing, the president will;.

    1. And doing the wrong thing is better than doing nothing? I get your point, but Obama is wrong, period, hand down.

  3. One man's opinion, duly noted. It will depend on the majority of Americans response.
    I do find it interesting, that during an election he is willing to take a stand on issues (same sex marriage, immigration, etc) that may well lose him voters.

  4. Obama has enforced immigration law more than any president in modern history, Les, and you should, as an informed man, know that.

    He ran into a problem, though: the flood of illegal immigration that came during the years after NAFTA brought with it many, many children. For most of these children, America is the only home they know.

    You want "free trade?" You want to dump cheap American agro on our neighbors to the south? You want to allow employers to hire whomever they want, and treat them however they want? Then live with the consequences.

    1. JMJ, Show me where he has strictly enforced immigration law. He has done no worse than the buffoons before him, I'll will give him that. Ther problem has been festering since Reagan. Obama should not make it worse.

      Clinton definitely f'ed up with NAFTA, again I agree with you.

      "You want "free trade?" You want to dump cheap American agro on our neighbors to the south? You want to allow employers to hire whomever they want, and treat them however they want?"

      Are you implying I said that?
