Sometimes It Just Makes Sense To Begin At the End...

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

Sometimes it seems right to begin at the end. Let me explain.

I was browsing through some politically focused sights, the usual mix of liberal, conservative, and libertarian. One really caught my interest, mostly because the article was filled with common sense and lacked what has become so common today; a sense of pure partisanship.

After completing the article I found myself reflecting on the simple wisdom contained in a article that will never, although it should, hit the main stream media.

And so, I begin the article at the end.

Sandy Salt - Who are these flash-mob voters you ask, well I like to call them the Angry Joes & Janes of the middle that are not right or left wingers. These are fiscal conservatives that hate the idea of the government wasting their hard earned dollars. They are compassionate and willing to lend a had, but don't want to feel like their charity is at the end of the billy club. They are more liberal on social issues, but only to a point and they definitely don't like being told where the point is by either side. They go by many names, but they are all Americans through and through. They believe in the American Dream and hard work. They don't like the idea that people are taking advantage of them, from either end of the financial spectrum. They are the angry middle that wants a better life for their children and would like to see them damn kids move out on their own finally and for good.

There is a mob mentality to them and sometime you wonder where they have run off to, but don't ever think that they don't exist or they won't come back. They just get busy living life and don't have time for the constant banter of talking heads or every lie from a politician. They will appear when needed and sometimes when the politicians least want them because they upset their criminal endeavors. They are out there working and watching. They will appear when the hour is darkest and the need is greatest. The are the Angry Joes & Janes of America protectors of Freedom, Liberty, and the American Dream. God Bless Them Every One! {From the Beginning}

Good Job Sandy Salt! Keep em coming. There is a huge well spring of hard working American patriots out in the heartland of this great nation, and we've got each others back.

Be sure to check out more at Sandy Salt, you'll not be disappointed.

  1. I read a report on a study recently that showed that when raising the minimum wage is one the ballot the democrat will probably win.

We live in a very complex society, we depend on roads and schools and jobs and wires and towers and satellites and duties to get us about. We must always strive to lift the least of us. And that's why we build roads, THAT is PROGRESSIVISM.

    2. Jersey said: "I read a report on a study recently that showed that when raising the minimum wage is one the ballot the democrat will probably win."

That's one of the most insane and destructive policies.

      - It screws mostly very small businesses (because big businesses like Walmart and McDonalds pay above minimum age)
      - It forces companies to fire people.
      - It forces companies to give some workers an unearned handout.

Yeah, the Dems might win if they run on this. But the Dems have always succeeded in attracting the most ignorant, mean spirited, and greedy voters.

And who does it help? Mostly middle class and rich people. It's the sloppiest welfare program ever, as it is not means tested.

"And that's why we build roads, THAT is PROGRESSIVISM."

But because we hire union thugs to build roads, they cost 30% more than they should, and the road construction takes 10 times as long (Creating dangerous situations in construction zones where people do die as a result, and forcing businesses to close because their driveways are blocked). And because unions encourage substandard work and keeping lousy workers on the job, the roads are crumbling in no-time. That's progressive road-building.

Put conservative ideas in charge, and the roads get built quicker, last longer, and the highway workers are paid a fair wage.

JMJ isn't the only one dealing in grey matter. This sounds more like grey water.

As for Sandy Salt, isn't that the name of a Spongebob character?

  4. Thank you for the kind words and the re-post. I try not to label, but at times putting names to things help us discuss the issues of the day. I do believe there are different flavor of Conservatives because there are lots of different people out there. Some Conservatives come with a social slant on the issues, while others don't share social conservative requirements. Some are more inclined to not allow the government to run amok with their money, but are perfectly fine allowing it to run amok with their rights.

Sorry JMJ, but I do believe in splitting the conservative hairs because they need to be split because I do not believe in a theocracy of any kind but I do believe in a fiscally conservative government.

    1. Well said Sandy. Of course Mr JMJ believes in , and is therefore inclined towards lumping all conservatives/libertarians into one big collective. It has something to do with his intellectual clarity I believe.

  5. Being that the social issue are important to me, I have a tendency to generally vote Democrat. But I am always, ALWAYS, looking for reasonable Republicans that I can also support. I do this a) because the Republicans DO have some good ideas and b) because I also think that country needs 2 strong and vibrant political parties (actually, I'd like to see more than 2) in order to move forward - stagnation obviously being the alternative.

    1. I seem to be forever, and I do mean forever trying to find a democrat I can support. Quite often without success. I also look for Libertarian or other 3'rd party alternatives. This has been increasingly so since the big "R" republican party has gotten so non representative of my principles.

Hence many find themselves at the "lesser of two evils" decision time I imagine.

    2. Yeah, that's what it essentially boils down for me, too. I mean, how many other people do you know who voted for Ross Perot not once but twice (the lesser of THREE evils AND a dag gum statement to boot!)?

There is a huge well-spring of hard working American patriots on the East Coast, West Coast and everywhere else. I see very hard working Americans every day in my city neighborhood here in Boston.

Why do people believe it is the "heartland" that has a strangle-hold on hard-working virtue?

Is there some graph that can illustrate that Americans in the "heartland" work harder than Americans in any other region?

I bring this up because this is a meme that GOPers always use to backhandedly denigrate other Americans. It's divisive, IMHO, just as it was when Palin claimed the "real" America was somewhere in rural Virginia during the last president campaign.

There are "real" Americans in urban, suburban, and rural regions.

What is in the nature of conservatives that compel them to divide people up into who's a "real" American, and which Americans are more hard working than other Americans?

And I'm pretty sure the people in my neighborhood are "patriots," too.

    1. Ya got me Shaw! My view is the entirety of the county constitutes the heartland, because I have lived and worked from sea to shining sea. There are indeed hard working patriotic people all over this great land. From top to bottom and from side to side and everywhere in between.

I should have known my outside the box thinking would be misinterpreted by the very people that think outside the box.

Thanks for ringing my chimes on this rather poor choice of words I used to represent my sincere beliefs.

There were roads and schools and jobs long before the government got involved. How much in the way of grants and subsidies went to Morse? Bell? Edison? How many jobs were created by the industries they launched?

If there's a need you can rest assured it can and will be met by some enterprising soul, and without benefit of government support. Government isn't the engine of progress, Jersey, it's the chock under the wheels.

    5. Yes, perhaps they should. Ultimately their overall cost might be reduced and service and reliability improved. Who knows, maybe one day long after we're gone it may be the order of the times.

    6. "Ultimately their overall cost might be reduced and service and reliability improved."
If that were true, they would have been building their own roads and utilities long ago.
Railroads, oil companies, etc. did get start up money from the government. As usual, what should have been a temporary lending hand, became a permanent (and increasing) government check. Anyone want to defend subsidies to current oil companies? The Republican party does. This isn't capitalism, it's just the way we have done business for centuries.
The people decide if they want to pay higher taxes for a product, or service, that private companies say they cannot make a profit at. Like athletic teams that say they need new stadiums, or they will leave; but they cannot make a profit if they have to pay for that new stadium themselves. I don't believe that, but citizens are faced with that scare tactic. They don't want the team to leave, so they give a private, for profit company 100's of millions of dollars.
Obama said he was going to change the way government does business. If you believe that, you are dumb. The only change, is that HIS choices of who gets subsidies, is different.

    7. A reason I advocate Ayn Rand's capitalism. But you already knew that. Thanks for re-reinforcing that we do not have capitalism today. We have an economy that is increasingly becoming More and More mixed. I'm sure you know what I mean.

As to the quoted statement. Consider it a jab.
