The President's Feather in His Cap

President Obama, having made the gutsy and proper call to go forward with the Navy Seal 6 mission that exterminated bin Laden has a feather in is campaign hat. Perhaps it is the only feather, but it is a feather well deserved. And I for one do not begrudge him using the feather on the campaign trail to the 2012 elections.

Having said this I find my self wondering just what the progressives would be saying, if given the same circumstances President George W. Bush had ordered the strike that resulted in the killing of radical Islam's maniacal psychotic madman. It is I guess a mute point, one perhaps not worth spending a lot of keyboard strokes on. But I just can't help but wonder. Especially since few progressives have stepped up and acknowledged the GWB's policies on terrorism, deserve credit for the OBL kill.

Anyhoo, During the President's recent fundraiser in Austin Texas audience members brought up the OBL kill to rounds of applause.

Reporting from Austin, Tex.— Osama bin Laden, mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, is now an applause line in a presidential campaign speech.

Bin Laden’s name came up a couple of times in Obama’s address Tuesday evening at a fund-raising event in Austin, Texas.

Early in Obama's appearance, someone shouted out, “Thank you for getting Bin Laden!’’

Obama said that was a “case in point’’ – a reason for voters to let him “finish what we started.’’...

President Obama certainly has the right to bask in the success of the mission he approved and ordered executed. If he is wise he will be sure to temper his campaign usage of the event and keep it at a level the public respects.

    if Obama blames Bush for everything wrong in this nation because he started it then on what basis does he deserve praise for something that Bush started?

    that may be true, les, but as i said praise and blame are the opposite sides of the same coin.

    when he starts accepting blame for the ultimate and incorrect decisions he has made instead of placing blame on Bush then i'll get on the bandwagon of praise for this decision.

    I would have even less problem with his "spiking" if he keeps using the knowledge and momentum to eliminate Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

    Let him use and focus on this all he wants. He will learn the lesson of the first Bush, it's the economy that matters most to voters.

    Yes, he can feel proud he "got" Bin Laden, however, Trestin is right, it's not going to put food on the table for millions of Americans. If this economy isn't turned around and the unemployment numbers don't go down, I'm not sure how "good" people are going to feel.

April Job Numbers Appear Improved... Are They Really?

The good news is unemployment fell to a four year low, certainly at year six in Obama's Presidential tenure strikes a positive note. Or does it? At the same time the number of people employed part time rose as well as strong indications are showing the Affordable Care Act (ACA aka ObamaCare) will have a long term negative impact on the USA economy. The following is an interesting analysis and one that certainly has some credibility.
