Some Quotes To Serve As Food For Thought For Modern Liberals

Rational Nation USA

Rational Nation USA, being in a lighter mode as the weekend draws to a close, provides the following quotes as simple food for thought. As our nation , and indeed the entire world grapples with the worldwide economic challenges brought on by the excesses of socialistic welfare policies it is time to revisit the more rational policies of a time when prosperity was the mark of individual hard work and perseverance.

When an entire nation holds to the principals of self reliance, hard work, and personal responsibility the nation flourishes. It is really time America revisited our national heritage and history... The none revisionist history that truly represents the truth about our nation, it's greatness, and the reality that we are the freest and most generous nation on the globe.

I anticipate the progressive/socialist minded, and statist amongst us will weigh in heavily in opposition to the above pronouncements. To them I say... please bring in on. The individuals who value liberty and the right to self determination stand ready to engage you in the battle to retain America's identity and tested strengths.

Now for some food.

Manufacturing and commercial monopolies owe their origin not to a tendency imminent in a capitalist economy but to governmental interventionist policy directed against free trade and laissez faire. Ludwig von Mises

Only one thing can conquer war - that attitude of mind which can see nothing in war but destruction and annihilation. Ludwig von Mises

The root of the evil is not the construction of new, more dreadful weapons. It is the spirit of conquest. Ludwig von Mises

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. Thomas Jefferson

All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation. John Adams

If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War. George Washington

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men the great difficulty lies in this: You must first enable the government to control the governed, and in the next place, oblige it to control itself. Alexander Hamilton

A national debt, if it is not excessive, will be to us a national blessing. Alexander Hamilton

Every aspect of Western culture needs a new code of ethics - a rational ethics - as a precondition of rebirth. Ayn Rand

As this week comes to a close I thank all that visited Rational Nation USA. I hope the quotes above provided some food for thought. Have a pleasant Sunday evening and to all you mothers out there...  Happy Mothers Day.

  1. Alexander Hamilton was my kind of guy. Except for the duel of course. I would have been content to call Aaron Burr deluded or one of my other signature phrases.
