The LibSport Crowd Against Arizona's Sane Immigration Bill 1070

What is it about these athletes who are speaking out against the sovereign state of Arizona in it's attempt to close it's borders and stop the infiltration of illegal immigrants from crossing the U.S / Mexican border.

Existing federal  immigration law was written to accomplish the very same thing Arizona is aiming to achieve with it's new state law. The reason Arizonans acted to pass Senate Bill 1070 is because the federal government stopped enforcing the law a long time ago. And as it looks from this vantage point it is unlikely much will happen at the federal level to change it in the foreseeable future.

Okay, I am going to say what is really on my mind. The federal government, and I am NOT singling out just President Obama...  more than one of his predecessors are guilty of doing nothing to control illegal immigration, as they in reality wanted a huge immigrant population from Mexico.

First, the motive behind the progressive agenda IMO was to allow, by turning a blind eye, as many people who would eventually support wholeheartedly the progressive/socialist agenda as possible. Once the numbers became large enough, as they now are, the push for amnesty would begin. Offer a path to citizenship and bingo a ready made voting block that will support the progressive statist ideology.

And now we turn to business. The businesses that stood to gain by the acquisition of cheap labor with no benefits were all to willing to take advantage of a federal government driven by the agenda of the politicians running the government. Together the two hand in hand have created the current situation Arizona is determined to correct.

While both business and government share responsibility for our illegal immigrant population, it is the government that must accept the lion's share of responsibility. It was the federal governments responsibility to enforce national immigration law, and at the same to enforce laws against hiring illegals.

So again, Arizona has taken the step to control it's own southern border. The law just recently signed by the Governor mirrors federal law, and it by no means is racist or discriminatory. Arizona lawmakers (with 70% approval from the citizens) should be applauded for taking steps to protect the legal citizens and ultimately strengthen the state economy.

These athletes are simply misguided. As is the President and the rest of the "let em in and give em amnesty" crowd. This is just my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

  1. I think most athletes and hollywood celebrities have proven themselves pretty clueless about these kinds of issues.

This is about no borders, no sovereignty, just like global corporations want. These fools are tools, and they don't even realize it.

  2. I agree with Michael Jordan who said republicans buy sneakers to. Well informed or not, sometimes it's best to not make comments if one is a celebrity.

I've got some distant family in Arizona. They're Libs like me and they're fed up. Something needs to be done.

I have no doubt the Arizona law was meant to pander to a voting group and really won't make a difference except perhaps goading the Feds into real immigration reform and sane policy. If it does that, great. If not, at least it gave us a blog topic.

  3. SilverFiddle - I agree completely, they are tools and they are easily manipulated.

  4. Truth - Your distant family should be fed up.

I disagree totally with your analysis. The Arizona law is not a bout pandering. It is about needed immigration control.

I agree if the law results in the do nothing feds finally getting it and enforcing the federal immigration laws on the books is a god thing.

I won't hold my breathe as no doubt anything the feds do that has teeth will be called... well, pandering.

  5. Politics is always about pandering. Every now and then some good happens despite it. hope this is one of those times RN.

  6. Pandering? Maybe. Politicians rarely do anything based on the desire to do what's right. However, the only reason that this hadn't been enacted already is because we had that incompetent loony Janet Napolitano vetoing it every time the citizens of Arizona got it passed. From the point of view of the citizens (especially those of us getting the brunt of the invasion here in southern Arizona), it's nothing more nor less than doing what should have already been done, and doing the job that the federal government (under either party) has refused to do, regardless of their Constitutional obligation. If they won't do it, we'll do it for them, and yes, in spite of them.

  7. Truth - Perhaps you are right. However, I simply believe (I use the characterization of simply because you on the left believe those on the conservative side are ... well, simple)that the America and it's founding ideals and principals will in the end prevail.

Let's hope that you are right Truth and Arizona is the wake up call for America.

  8. Bastiatarian - I agree with you 100%.

I have often thought about retiring to Arizona. Perhaps when your situation is finally dealt with effectively I will consider it seriously.

And I thank Arizona for shining the spotlight on this very serious issue. Your legislators and Governor deserve a great deal of respect having passed Senate Bill 1070 and ultimately signing it into law.
