A Voice of Reason Written in Biblical Prose

The following was received via e-mail. The author was identified only as the wife of a pastor and the text was written in biblical prose. Biblical prose aside the author's message is reasoned and powerful. Everyone who reads this will be left with a feeling of concern at the very least, and possibly a feeling of outright fear for our country and her future.

The only editorial comment made by Rational Nation USA would be the opening paragraph should not be taken literally as there are still more people with ethical standards and initiative than not. The literal wording should taken more as a warning and a wake up call.

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land
called America, having lost their morals, their initiative, and their
will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that
person known as "The One."

He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He
hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you." My lack
of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my
association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you
with hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the land
that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and
that all he has built must be destroyed.

And the people rejoiced, for even though they knew not what "The One"
would do, he had promised that it was good; and they believed. And
"The One" said " We live in the greatest country in the world. Help me
change everything about it!" And the people said, "Hallelujah! Change
is good!"

Then He said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats." And the people
said "Sock it to them!" "And redistribute their wealth." And the
people said, "Show us the money!" And then he said, "redistribution of
wealth is good for everybody." And Joe the plumber asked, " Are you
kidding me? You're going to steal my money and give it to the
deadbeats??" And "The One" ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's
personal records were hacked and publicized. One lone reporter asked,
"Isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was banished from the kingdom!

Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and having
zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with radical
terrorists?" And "The One" said, "Simple.. I shall sit with them and
talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will
forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" And the people
said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons
into free cars for the people!"

Then "The One" said "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes." And one,
lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One"
said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!" And
the people said, "Hallelujah! Show us the money!" Then "The One" said,
"I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell
your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed.

And He said.. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care for every
worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person
unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics."
And the people said, "Give me some of that!"

Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas." And
the people said, "Where's my rebate check?" Then "The One" said, "I
shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will
skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more
coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates." So
"The One" said, Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to cover
your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with the ACORN and
you troubles are over!"

Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's
grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches,
free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..." And the
people said, "Hallelujah!" and they made him king!

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and
ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others
simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto
a rock dropped from a cliff. The bank banking industry was destroyed.
Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a
means of support.

Then "The One" said, "I am the "the One"- The Messiah - and I'm here
to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have
enough!" But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a
minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have
to pay more... And "The One" said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have
embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate
power. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea
verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon him
and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was
no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter
or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a
poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all
that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish,
"give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too
late, and their homeland was no more!

These things are happening in our country right now. Unless we make our voices heard, and demand immediate accountability from the President and our Congress, all of these things may happen and possibly much more.

Politics as Usual in Massachusets and PC in California

As people are paying their respects to the late Senator Kennedy there is a firestorm brewing  in Massachusetts politics that is directly linked to Washington DC.  The reason, a cynical and political move to change yet again a law to favor the liberal agenda by allowing Governor Deval Patrick to temporarily fill the late Senators seat by gubernatorial appointment.

Senator Kennedy recently had asked Massachusetts lawmakers to give the Governor authority to name a successor until such time a special election could be held. Under current Massachusetts law the time period in which such an election must be held is between 145 and 165 days.

Sound reasonable? in 2004 during Republican Governor Mitt Romney's administration Senator Kennedy pushed Massachusetts state legislators to take appointment power away from the Governor. Ultimately the effort succeeded  and the liberal agenda prevailed.  The reason was presumably to foster a more democratic process, although the likely reason was to prevent a Republican Governor from making appointments.

Now that the change in law in 2004 may not work to the liberal  agenda, Pol's in Washington, as well as Massachuttses, are once again playing politics. The argument now is that five months is too long to go without Massachusetts having a second voice in the Senate. If that is so today then why was it deemed not so in 2004?

An article appearing today in the Wall Street Journal, written by John Hechinger and Philip Shishnkin, reports on this issue. The article is informative and a complete reading leaves one with the sense the purpose of returning power to Governor Deval Patrick is to insure a second affirmative vote from Massachusetts on the Obama Health Care Plan, just in case the vote is close.  Politics as usual continues in the the one party Baystate.

The Associated Press, in an article by Erica Werner, reports today that a top level House liberal (read socialist) has commented that party moderates that have advocated for changes in the Obama Health Care Plan are brain dead. Rep. Pete Stark, Democrat California, maintains that Blue Dog Democrats "just want to cause trouble." 'They're for the most part, I hate to say brain dead."

So there we have it. A cynical political flip flop in Massachusetts to favor yet again the liberal (read socialist) agenda. A liberal (read again socialist) California Representative calling moderates in his own party brain dead because they don't toe the Obama socialist/statist line.

Unless, and until such time as we put the President and his socialist cohorts on notice that we have had enough already we will continue to face more of the same power grabs, and the same insults by those who believe they know what's best for all Americans.

And another thing Representative Stark, I resent your characterization of those who disagree with your socialist agenda as brain dead. I guess with all your superior intellect and wisdom you're just to dumb to realize you insulted millions of moderate to conservative hard working Americans who actually do something of value to earn their living. Hey, maybe you stand to be appointed the Politically Correctness Czar when the President decides one is necessary. After all, your appointment to such a vaulted position would increase our freedom  and make us a more tolerant society. Especially when we all think like you and the President., right?

A Few Scattered Thoughts

[Ted+Kennedy.jpg]
I wish to begin todays post by first expressing my sincere condolences to the entire Kennedy family on their loss.  No matter what one may have thought of his politics he stayed true to his philosophy and vision as to the direction he believed our country should travel. He was an effective negotiator and was able to successfully work with his comtemporarys across the aisle. For these things he is deserving of our respect.
Good bye Senator Kennedy, rest in peace.  You truly were the Liberal Lion of the United States Senate.

There are a few thoughts racing through my mind today. The kind of thoughts that are on everyone's mind these days, and as the days drag on the questions continue to accumulate much faster than answers.

First on my mind is our staggering federal debt.  With the current administrtion in power it is almost a certainty that our federal debt will grow at an exponentially faster rate than revenues. Common sense would tell one that when in debt you don't continue to spend faster than you are bring the money in. You certainly don't borrow huge amounts of capital to continue funding your spending spree. Well folks, that is exactly what our government has done for some time.  And this administration shows no signs of  fiscal restraint or responsibility whatsoever.. Team Obama will have managed, according to budget predications, doubled the federal deficit in one short year. And it gets worse. Projections are over the course of the next 10 years we will add another 10 trillion or so to the federal debt which already stands at 11.8 trillion dollars. Someone better figure out soon we must stop spending to get our house in order. Or the other alternative socialists love to pursue, increase taxes until they are through the roof.

Second on my mind is where is any discussion of meaningful tort reform to help control the rising cost of health care.  In the entire 1018 page Obamination Health Care Plan it is not addressed. Doctors pay exorbitant cost for malpractice insurance because they must protect themselves in the event of a lawsuit in which a jury awards millions for pain and suffering and punitive damages. These costs ultimately get passed on to the health care consumer which gets passed on to the health care insurance industry  which results in higher insurance costs for the health consumer. Meaningful tort reform won't in and of itself fix our problem but it is astounding that no one is talking about it.

Third on my mind is this President's hay day in appointing Czars. Czars to do what? Simply to create a larger bureaucracy that is intended to concentrate more power in the Executive branch of Government. This is scary stuff. Our founding fathers took great pains to insure we had a Republic with limited power in the Executive Branch. Those Patriots, and fathers of our country, gave a workable Democratic Republic with checks and balances for a very good reason. We should all be angered by this administrations attempt to circumvent our Constitution and concentrate power in the hands of a singe executive.

Our  Nation is being transformed into a socialist statist nation before our very eye's. It is happening rapidly and if  the transformation is not stopped soon it may be too late. If we hope to keep our Republic we all need to continue to raise our voices and scream if necessary until  Mr. President and minions hear us!

Is Obama a socialist/ Marxist by Defenition - Part #2

The image to the left aptly describes the result of every communist totalitarian government that has existed since Karl Marx and  the publishing of  The Communist Manifesto. Marx however was not a politician nor a government official.  He started no political party nor did he actively involve himself with a particular political movement.
Marx, aside from being a 19th century economics and social philosopher was a pragmatist in some respects and an idealist in others.  Not unlike many of us today.  While I find the the results of his economic model and social philosophy, as practiced and perverted by Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Castro, to be  revolting, I can not argue with much of his theoretical economic premises as he expressed them in his writings.

I was called to task by a person whose intelligence and integrity I respect, and was reminded that Karl Marx's work, taken in context and in the historical framework of his time is far removed from what today is passed off as Marxism or Marxist. This persons problem is not with my general position on the current political, economic, and social climate in America. It is with what he views as a misrepresentation of Marx's philosophy and life's work for the purpose of creating fear where none need exist to further a political agenda.

After giving thought to his comments, and recalling some of what I had learned about Marx those many years ago as a student, I must confess that he has a valid point. Marx in is own words said "as for me I am not a Marxist." While the general belief is that Marx was in favor of redistributing wealth  the fact is he was a strong critic of the socialists of his time because they focused on (re)distribution of wealth rather than improvements in the material forces of production. He also believed that capitalism was good for society and  a huge leap forward  in what he saw as economic evolution to a more efficient and productive state. It is also true that Marx himself was not a proponent of investing total power in the state. Later proponents of communism did advocates for a strong centralized (and  totalitarian) government. But here again it was a perversion of Marx's actual beliefs and was done to further the interests of those desirous of , or in power.

I can not hope to accomplish an in depth discussion of Marx's theories in this post. It is not my intention to do so. Rather I wish to answer the challenge put to me to accurately and concisely state what I mean both politically and philosophically. So, after some revisiting here is what I mean (and meant) with respect to characterizing President Obama as a socialist/Marxist:

1) He is a socialist with the intent of reshaping our countries landscape both politically and economically.
2) As a classical "Utopian" socialist he believes in the redistribution of wealth to create a more "equal" and thus "fairer" society. Naturally as he views equal and  fair.
3) He is a proponent of investing more power in government.  Witnessed by the growing number of Czars being appointed. A way around the legislative branch and meant to consolidate power in the executive branch. IE; The President
4) His partial nationalization of the auto industry, involving government in setting bonuses and or salaries of business executives, universal healthcare with the "public option or co-ops" which is the first step to single payer, just to name a few more are all decisions meant to further increase centralized power in the government.
5) To be very clear about what I mean, and have meant when referring to Obama as a socialist/Marxist - it has been meant in the vein of what is passed off as "Marxism" today, meaning Obama is a "Statist" who believes in consolidating and increasing the power of the state in individuals lives and the affairs of business.
If we as a people "give this President his head" it is my belief that at the end of his time in office we will have a more oppressive and less responsive government.

Politicians, when allowed to remain in office "read in power" for a very long time seem to have a habit of becoming corrupt. Additionally as they produce nothing of intrinsic value they essentially become parasites living off the people they are supposed to represent. Our country is a democratic republic (I wish people would stop calling it a democracy) and we must begin replacing those of our representatives that have become unresponsive to the welfare of our nation and serve only to enrich themselves. The statement 'power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ' should be instructive in what is happening today to a fair number of our elected officials and thusly our government.  Our founding fathers recognized the dangers inherent in concentrated government power. That is precisely why they devised a government with limited executive authority, a system of  checks and balances, and with power invested in those being governed.  Our country was indeed fortunate to have the profound thinkers that crafted our Republic.  If we are not vigilant in protecting it we stand the very real chance of losing our Republic.

In summary to be clear, and in deference to the concern expressed by one of the readers of my blog ,  my concise view is that  Barrack Hussein Obama is a socialist, a statist, and if allowed to further centralize power in the government and his office our Republic will become unrecognizable in a matter of a few short years. I say this with respect to the framing of our nation and as time is relative within the context of our 233 year history an a Republic.

Is Obama a Socialist/Marxist by Definition?

I have freely called President Obama a socialist/Marxist on the pages of Rational Nation USA. For this I have been severely criticized for my beliefs and outspokenness. As one would expect the concerns came from the moderate left to the more progressive left.
As is always my inclination when criticized by intelligent individuals I took a step back to examine my premises. As words (concepts) have meaning and are concrete I decided to start with the definition of concepts that define a persons politics. These concepts (words), which span the spectrum of political philosophy as related to this discussion are; fascism, conservative, moderate, progressive, socialism, and Marxism.
Definitions of each concept, taken from Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, and of necessity edited so as to refer only to the concept in the political meaning are as follows:
Fascism/Fascist - 1: a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition 2: a tendency towards or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control.
Conservatism - disposition in politics to preserve what is established, 1b: a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change.
Moderate - 1a: avoiding extremes of behavior or expression, observing reasonable limits, b: calm, temperate, avoiding extreme political or social behavior, one who holds moderate or belongs to a group favoring a moderate course or program.
Progressive - 1a: of, relating to, or characterized by progress b: making use of or interested in new ideas, or findings, of or related to political Progressives. 1a: one that is progressive b: one believing in moderate political change and esp. social improvement by government action, the principals or beliefs advocated by the Progressives.
Socialism/Socialist - 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or government ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2: a system or society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state 3: a a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done, one who advocates or practices socialism.
Marxism/Marxist - the political, economic and social principals and policies and policies advocated by Marx: esp: a theory and practice of socialism including the labor theory of value. dialectical materialism, the class struggle, and dictatorship of the proletariat until the establishment of a classless society.
Studying the definitions above it is clear, at least to this individual, that President Obama is not a conservative or moderate. He does by definition display some progressive thought although it is quite advanced toward the socialist model. One only has to examine his policies of government bailouts, partial nationalization of the auto industry, cash for clunkers, propping up of the financial industry (started by his predecessor), his plan for national health care with the government option or co-ops, placing limits on executive pay and bonuses, et all to realize his plan for America is a radical departure from our past proven path to success and common sense.
President Obama, while exhibiting some fascist leanings, most noticeably the desire for a centralized autocratic government he is not by definition a fascist or leaning towards fascism. To characterize him as such, as I have heard some do, is totally inaccurate and without substance.
Having determined by definition President Obama is not a fascist, conservative, moderate, or progressive it leaves two remaining philosophies. Socialism and Marxism. By the President's own actions, as noted above, he has left no doubt but what he is a socialist. Marxism is the continuation of the socialist philosophy to it's extreme conclusion. I suggest a reading of Animal Farm for a graphic understanding of the results of Marxism (Communism) and it's eventual totalitarian outcome. Or better yet, a study of modern day communism and it's eventual collapse is instructive as well.
In conclusion I stand by my characterization of President Barack Hussein Obama as a socialist/ Marxist. While he may not as this is being written be a full fledged Marxist, as he "progresses" along the continuum of social engineering he will arrive at that logical end. Just one man's opinion.

Is Racism Resurgent in America

A close friend, perhaps my closest made a comment the other day that he was concerned racism has recently experienced a new resurgence in America. At first I dismissed the comment as that of a progressive who feels the conservative movement with it's new found activism over Obama's health care plan was somehow responsible for this perceived resurgence of racism.

However, after initially putting it out of my mind, hours later I found myself pondering over his comment. I realized my friend is far to intelligent to think conservatives are responsible for what he sees as a resurgent racism. I am equally sure he does'nt think the fact we have a black President has anything to do with his perceived increase in racism. He referenced organization that are admittedly right wing, skinheads, white supremacists, etc. which have existed for years and are on the fringes of mainstream American life. Nor do they represent the average American, either conservative or progressive.

In as much as there is truth to the statement that white racism exists in this country, there is also equal truth that black racism (or reverse racism) exists as well. There always has been and likely always will be those who simply lack the capacity to see past color and race. This is indeed sad because at the end of the day, regardless of race, national origin, gender, or sexual preference we are all human beings deserving of the same respect and opportunities as the next. The only circumstance that rationally changes that equation is when a person is guilty of not extending the rights they desire to their fellow man {read humankind}.

Taking this into the political arena I see a tendency, on the part of some, to believe those who take issue with, and oppose the Presidents policies, philosophies of governance, or his vision for America are somehow racist. While there may be some small fringe minority that fit this narrow view the truth is opposing a person's views if they are black does not make anyone a racist. Nor does a black man taking issue with a white man's view make the black man a racist. Politics is about, or at least should be about finding solutions so the government can "properly" govern it's citizens.

This writer is a true independent Conservative. One who believes in limited government and that the free market is best suited to drive our economy and the engines of production and productivity. Further government's proper role is to provide for the national defence, maintain a proper judicial system to adjudicate crimes against people and property, provide for proper law enforcement agencies to protect citizens against the criminal element in society, and provide for a educational system to educate the populace and insure against censorship of idea's. Obviously some form of taxation is needed to fund the "necessary and proper function" of government but should be limited.

As you can see I am opposed to almost every philosophical position, policy decision, and view President Obama has for our nation. Does that make me a racist? Much has been written on this blog about what I , and others see as a socialist or Marxist President in the oval office. Does that make me or them racist? Does president Obama's initial support of Professor Gates and his remark that"the police acted stupidly" make the President a racist? This man's opinion is a resounding no to all.

Political differences are a fact of life. The vast majority of people; Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern in America know this. They also realize that while there are some true racists of every persuasion they are the minority and are properly shunned by rational thinking individuals in society. It is time more people spoke up and put this perceived idea of a new resurgence of racism in America to bed. People of reason in all races must shine a bright non racial light on the facts. Disagreement with a person of another race or national origin, does not make one a racist.

President Obama's Town Hall Social

Call me a skeptic but something was up yesterday in Portsmouth New Hampshire town hall meeting. The president might as well have been attending a party in honor of Lenin and all his great accomplishments. Rather asking probing questions about the President's Health care reform plans the get together was more of a social gathering for people to be able to say "I saw the President in person."

The Associated Press had this to say - "The White House had been ready for an unruly reception from opponents of overhauling health care. There was no sign of that, perhaps because of the makeup of the day's crowd or out of traditional deference for the president." Yes there was likely some deference shown to the President. More likely the crowd's make up was progressive and the majority were supporters of the President's agenda. Being the skeptic that I am I suspect the crowd of approximately 1800 was packed by the Democratic party with Obama supporters. I am sure the party of Pelosi and Reid would not want the President to be faced with tough questions he might not be able to answer.

I read the Associated Press article twice and came away with the feeling the President, the Democratic Congress, and the government media complex are going to do all they can to keep the American people as uninformed as they possible... I say this because we hear no specifics from the President, no specifics from the Congress, and the media by and large are nothing more than lapdogs to the administration and the socialist agenda.

I tried to extract something of substance from the article, it was difficult but here are the noteworthy quotes from BHO;

1) "For all the scare tactics out there, what is truly scary is if we do nothing."
2) "For all the chatter and the yelling and the shouting and the noise, what you need to know is this...if you have insurance, we will make sure that no insurance company or government bureaucrat gets between you and the care you need."
3 ) " Spread the facts. Lets get this done."
4) At one point in response to a supporter, "I love you back"

All the above sounds more like campaign talk than anything of substance. Long on feel good, short on specifics. This has come to personify our modern day politicians in both major parties, the President, the Congress and the government media complex. The attitude seems to be one of , 'lets spoon feed the public our agenda for them, heavy with disinformation or outright lies, promise them all the goodies they want so we get re-elected and worry not about the cost or impact on the nation. Future generations can deal with it.'

I give the President a lot of credit though. At the end of the session he went so for as to ask the attendees for some skeptical questions. Talk about brave, whew. And only after he had identified he was in admiring company. He did get some questions about why he doesn't put more heat on Congress and where the country would find the additional doctors it will need. Interesting that there was no response to the later. Perhaps the Associated Press just forgot to print the Presidents response.

The great and remarkable thing was his statement reiterating that he is determined to get his plan done and paid for without raising the nations already 11.8 trillion dollar debt. Sounds wonderful, but try as might I could find no specifics. Should this surprise anyone?

Further the President addressed the concerns, and statements made by Sarah Palin that Obama's plan would create "death panels" that would deny care to frail seniors . The provision that has caused this concern would "only" authorize medicare to pay doctors for providing end of life care counselling, living wills, hospice care and other issues the President said. He said it wouldn't "basically pull the plug on grandma because we decided that it is to expensive to let her live anymore."

People should be very very skeptical of this answer. Sure, for now the Presidents statement is no doubt true. However, as this ill advised plan spirals out of control and costs begin to rise rapidly the stage is set for health care rationing. If, or when this happens decisions made by agents of the federal government will determine who gets treatment. The decision will be made on a cost benefit analysis and the seniors and least productive will be the targets of rationed health care.

This proposed legislation is 1,018 pages long. It is filled with legalese so no one but attorneys can understand it. And it is extremely complex. It also will have deep and long term consequences for this and future generations. The President and the progressive/socialists in Congress want it passed post haste. This smells like rotting fish and is a sure recipe for disaster.

There are just to many questions and not enough answers. It seems like the citizens only recourse is the town hall meetings. Not the staged kind, but rather the kind where real people, with real concerns attend, and voice their opinions confidently and forcefully. Demand to be heard, and not let up until satisfied the questions have been answered. After 9 to 12 months of debate and consideration put the issue before the people in the form of a national binding referendum and truly let the people decide. The American people are not dunces, irrespective of what the ruling elite may think. Given the track record of Congress we the People can do a damn sight better.

An Open Letter to the President - Lou Pritchett

This morning as I was settling in to write today's blog post I decided first to check my e-mails. I had decided the post would be a commentary on Sarah Palin's kinda sorta over the top remarks published on her Facebook page about what Obama's health care plan would mean, and Nancy Pelosi's definitely over the top statement that anti Obama health health care activists and protesters where UN-American.

A lot has been posted on this blog about Presidents Obama's socialist/Marxist philosophy, and why all Americans should be concerned about the President's agenda and rapid leftward shift. Our very quality of life and our liberties are at stake, as is the nation's long term financial viability and stability .

Back to my e-mail and the relevance to today's blog post. As I ran through my mail I found one of particular interest and very poignant. I think it sums up the fears many have with the direction this President's is taking us in, the policy decisions he has made thus far, and his philosophy of governance. As I read it I realized it had to become today's post. It needs no introduction and speaks strongly to issues that should give us all pause.

Subject: Letter from Proctor and Gamble Exec. to Obama

Please read even, if you are an Obama fan. It is legitimate, written by respected Lou Pritchett, formerly of Proctor and Gamble. Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America's true living legends, an acclaimed author, dynamic teacher, and one of the worlds highest rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management. Lou changed the way America does business by creating an audacious concept that came to be known as "partnering." Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice President, Sales and Customer Development for Proctor and Gamble and over the course of 36 years, made corporate history.

An Open Letter to President Obama

Dear President Obama;

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing abut you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience , thus don't understand it at it's core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Discussion with my Son

Just the other day my son, who is a progressive, called in to question some statements I had made on previous blog posts. The details are not terribly important but generally his concern had to do with my position on President Obama's policies which clearly I do not support. He also felt that I was being disrespectful of the President and perhaps even harboured at some level feelings of hate towards the man.

At first I was quite upset. After giving further consideration to his words I decided to make a public statement. First, I respect the office of the President of the United Sates of America and the man who holds it. Second, I bear no personal animosity towards the man and I certainly have no hate for him at any level. He is an intelligent and personable man. One who I likely could sit down and have a beer with and share some mutual insights.

My issues with the President are not personal. Rather they are with respect to his policies and what I believe to be his political beliefs and his philosophy of governance. I have said he is a socialist/Marxist and I stand by those statements. I do not approve of the direction, started by his predecessor, that he is leading us into. At almost every level it has the stench of socialism/Marxism. Simply put, if I have any hate at all it is with the tenets of socialism and Marxism. I have found these philosophies to be distasteful for over 35 years and will continue to find them distasteful.

Having said the above it is important to state the following. I believe fiercely in every person's right to hold their beliefs, whatever they may be. Further, I believe it every one's right to freely express their views without the fear of retribution from any source. Not only do I believe it every individuals right to think and speak freely, I believe it is their responsibly as American citizens to do so. Dissent and political activism is a positive pursuit and should be encouraged, both conservative and progressive. A qualifier, all dissent and activism must remain respectful and never turn to violence. If it does it immediately loses whatever credibility it may have had.

Now with that out of the way back to my son. As I previously stated he is a progressive. He is also highly intelligent as well as being thoughtful of the issues. He told me several times he believes in moving cautiously with health care and he does not march in lockstep with anyone. I go on record as saying that type of progressivism gives hope that it may be possible to find solutions that work. Because at the end of the day, the nation must have solutions that are hammered out and agreed to by progressives and conservatives alike.

My son made an interesting observation, one I hope he won't mind me sharing. He said, and I paraphrase, Dad I get worried that because of your views posted on your blog you might be on a watch list. Then he said, if you aren't already on one. To which I replied, "I thank you for your concern. But there are things larger and more important than my security. Not the least of which is working in any and every way I can to insure that you, your wife, and you son will continue to enjoy the liberties that prior generations of Americans enjoyed. If I am on a watch list, and I may be, then so be it. That only would serve to support why I do what I do."

Oh, before I forget, we are proud of you, we love you, and we love our daughter-in-law and grandson.

Hecklers at the Healthcare Town Hall Meetings

The gloves are off. Conservatives and moderates are attending town hall style meetings across the nation to express their concerns over the Obama socialized health care plan. As people have time to delve into the "guts" of this ill conceived and costly plan their concerns are growing.

The following text was taken off the web and is a statement by a government official; There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Excuse me for saying so but this is scary stuff. Essentially what the Government is asking the citizenry to do is "snitch" on fellow Americans who, because they have educated themselves, expressed deep concern with the President's plan. Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is Big Brother Government at its worst. The beauty in this plan for Obama and the socialist/Marxist's is to first divide our house against itself so it can conquer any opposition because in their minds the end justifies the Obama means.

Which brings me back to my initial opening. The health care town hall meetings have gotten raucous. Conservatives have attended the meetings in large numbers to express their grave concerns and demand straight answers from their elected officials. The reason some have gotten vocal and outspoken is because they believe their so called leaders haven't heard them. And to a large extent this is likely true. As evidenced by the Obama, Pelosi, Reid trio of "we know what's best for you, just ask us." mentality.

The hecklers and protesters have perhaps pumped up the volume beyond the point of civil discourse. If they have it is understandable why they feel it necessary. However, I for one do not support out of control heckling and protesting. Rather than getting the conservative argument heard and understood through rational debate it drowns out the valid concerns we have.

The Boston Globe did a full blown article in their August 6 edition which cast conservatives in a dim light. It would be a good idea if conservatives read the article titled 'Foes' decibel's replace debate on healthcare". We need to tone it down, keep the debate aggressive but respectful, and we will score more points. And in the final analysis isn't that the goal, to score big.

I can't, as much as I would like to, pass up this opportunity. I seem to remember during the era of the civil rights movement, the protests over the Vietnam war, and liberal social climate that enveloped the nation during those years a lot of protests. Protests spawned by the liberal progressive movement and they were pretty nasty at times. In fact a few became violent. So I find it interesting that the very media that supported their agenda and right to heckle and protest are taken aback when the conservatives get even mildly agitated, but lets leave that for another day.

So in summary, we have conservatives exercising their civil liberties, the government media complex doing it's best to form and channel the debate, and a government that sees no problem in asking Americans to "snitch" on other Americans for disagreeing with the government. I don't know about you, but the greater more ominous issue here is the flag@whitehouse.gov effort.

As a true independent conservative, I encourage each of us to get active in his or her own best way. But in doing so lets keep it focused on the issues, rational, and above all civil and respectful. If we do we have a great chance at stemming the tide of socialist Stalinist style health care.

The Supreme Court and Judicial Activism

Soon the melodrama, and speeches will be over. President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor is soon to be confirmed. There is even limited bi-partisan support for her confirmation.

I however, find myself asking what the rationale, or put another way political interests were that led to her nomination. I know her judicial credentials are sound and she apparently has no skeletons in her closet. She is an intelligent and well spoken jurist who handled herself with composure and confidence throughout the hearings.

So why the uneasy feeling I keep asking myself. Is it possible the rationale and interest for nominating her for the job was to lock in the Hispanic vote in 2012? Or perhaps it is because Judge Sotomayor is a socialist minded jurist that the President knows will support his socialist/Marxist agenda from the bench through activist judicial opinions? Perhaps it is a combination of both of these factors. I do not know the women, only through what I have read. Those readings have led me to believe she will be an activist judge whose philosophy is the Constitution and the Supreme Court are living breathing institutions and should move with the times. This simply put means movement further and further to the left.

Senator Patrick Leahy, D-VT., Judiciary Committee chairman says of Sotomayor, "She is a restrained, experienced and thoughtful judge who has shown no bias in her rulings." Perhaps this is so, but I rather think not. Senator Jeff Sessions, R-AL., top ranking Republican on the panel, said "Judge Sotomayor's expressed judicial philosophy rejects openly the ideal of impartial and objective judging. Instead, her philosophy embraces the impact that background, personal experiences, sympathies, gender and prejudices - these are her words - have on judging." This is the more credible statement.

In the end it wasn't going to matter what anyone may have thought. We have no voice in this and since the majority of those deciding had their minds made up from the start they wouldn't have listened anyway. So as the court moves leftward with Sotomayor's certain confirmation I can't help but laugh at the progressives talk about conservative judicial activism as though it were a bad thing. Well, I guess to them it would be a bad thing, it doesn't agree with their version of justice or impartiality.

All this brings to mind Judge Robert Bork, a Reagan nominee to the Supreme Court. A highly qualified and respected Judge who was considered to be one of the most brilliant Constitutional law scholars of his time. Without diminishing Judge Sotomayor's credentials, Judge Bork was at least as qualified to sit on the High Court as Judge Sotomayor is, and arguably more so.

Judge Bork failed confirmation irrespective of his sterling judicial record. His problem? He was a strict constructionist who rightly believed in judicial restraint. A judge who correctly believed that the responsibility of a Supreme Court Justice is to rule in a case based on the strict interpretation of our founding and guiding document. The Constitution of the United States of America.

Why did he fail to be confirmed? Because of progressive judicial activism. In my view activism is what defines the American spirit. It was astonishing to many that Judge Bork was not confirmed. However, we all went back to our business and hoped for a better day and another fight on the issues that matter to us, and should be important to every citizen of this nation.

Senator Patrick Leahy said this, "I'm disappointed not more of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are likely to vote for this outstanding nominee." To this progressive judicial activist all true conservatives should respond with something like this, and I paraphrase John Paul Jones, with all due respect Mr. Leahy we have not yet begun to fight. If we do not lose heart, stay true to our American birthright to activism we will live to win another day. We are essentially a conservative nation, the progressive socialist/Marxist can only stretch the rubber band so far to the left before they will face the wrath of the American Patriot.

What Obama and my wife have in common

This well intentioned, and thoughtful letter to President Obama from Chuck Norris is a reasonable and respectful request for the President to supply the information that would quiet the birther's firestorm. If the President has nothing at all to hide then it would seem to most people prudent to put an end to the controversy that is a distraction to his Presidency.

I for one sincerely want to believe our President is constitutionally able to serve as our President. Having said this I also believe the President has a responsibility to this country and it's citizens to put this issue to rest.

Will you do that for your country Mr. President?

Congress Goes Into It's August Recess Without Enacting Socialized Health Care

Congress has adjourned and it's members have left Washington to begin the August recess. They did so without enacting President Barrack Hussein Obama's sweeping socialized health care initiative. For that we should all be thankful. Cautious minds, at least for the moment, prevailed.

Having said this I submit the conservative movement, and each and every true conservative, must not let up on the pressure we have subjected congress to so far to resist the temptation to a quick Marxist fix to our health care issues. Our system is admittedly in need of some adjustment, both in availability and affordability, but a rush to any solution is a mistake. Particularly when the rush is to preserve the "political credibility" of a President who spoke to soon and out of step with the American people.

Recent public polling indicates the American people are wary of both the cost and scope of the Obama overhaul (Boston Globe 8/01/09) of our health care system. As a result of this Democrats say they need the President to keep up the pressure on us as they pressure their constituents to support the legislation favored by Obama and the liberal socialist/Marxist in congress.

David Axelrod, an Obama advisor after meeting with House Democrats told reporters, "we need to go out and make an impressive case over August." It is clear from this statement, as well as the general sentiment amongst the liberal congress, that the battle lines are drawn. Liberal socialist/Marxist's are gearing up for the greatest selling initiative of their careers. Conservatives must be ready, willing, and able to mount an equally effective "counter case" if we are to preserve the remnants of our republic.

As accurately stated in the Boston Globe, "Many Conservative Democrats could be vulnerable in the 2010 midterm election - one reason Obama and his fellow Democrats, who control Congress, are eager to schedule the health care vote by the end of this year." I don't know about you but this sounds like cynical politics at it's worse. The idea, get it done before the American people speak or we may lose our opportunity to force it down their throats.

The President has used, and will continue to use, the argument that enacting his plan for socialized health care is central to our long term economic recovery. This begs the question; how will increasing the government's cost for health care possibly help control our already out of control federal debt of eleven point eight trillion dollars which is mounting by the minute. Sounds like Voodoo economics and logic to me.

Back to my original points. We have dodged the bullet of socialized health care for now. The forces for socialism/Marxism will not rest. Therefore, it is imperative that those of all political persuasion who value rationality and caution, speak out and force the steamroller to slow down, figure out how to get it right, and if that takes until 2010 so be it. Is not the welfare of this nation and it's people more important than the agenda of any politician? Even Barack Hussein Obama?

Be the Master of Your Destiny

I find these simple words so inspiring! Especially today when our government, more than ever before, is bent on convincing us Big Brother Government is the answer to all our problems.

True, government can tax you to death and find ways to spend your money, but never as effectively and prudently as you would and certainly not in YOUR best interest. Proper government should remain limited and responsive to the will of the people.

The current government of the United States of America, led by President Barrack Hussein Obama and his socialist/Marxist supporters in congress, wish to take us down the path that leads to the destiny THEY have chosen for us.

As our federal government continues to usurp more and more of our liberties it grows larger and larger, feeding on each and every American citizen like the parasite it has become. As we the people continue to give the government more and more control over our lives, we can continue to watch those we elect to represent us bankrupt our nation.

As government niether creates nor sells anything of intrinsic value it needs our efforts and productivity to survive. As we produce products of value and sell that product to a global market we, not the government create wealth. By what right does the government take our (individual) wealth and redistribute that wealth as it sees fit? The answer; by the right we have so readily given it by our failure to restrain its largesse. We have ourselves to blame for the mess we are in today.

As our government bankrupts our nation by creating unsustainable debt, remember this; as the government we failed to control goes, so we to will go.

Isn't it time we as a people heed the simple, yet profound words of William Ernest Henley. For in the end we are truely Masters of Our Own Fate. Either by action or inaction. The choice rests with each individual.
