The Phlosophy of Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on February 2, 1905. At age six she taught herself to read and two years later discovered her first fictional hero in a French magazine for children, thus capturing the heroic vision which sustained her throughout her life.

At the age of nine she decided to make fiction writing her career. Thoroughly opposed to the mysticism and collectivism of Russian culture, she thought of herself as a European writer, especially after encountering Victor Hugo, the writer she most admired.

Ayn Rand was not only a fiction writer, the author of two of the wests most profound and intellectually stimulating  novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, she was one of the 20th centuries intellectual giants.

Ayn Rand is known for her philosophy of Objectivism. The foundation of which is the philosophy of Aristotle and Aristotelian logic. Rand built her philosophy on objective reasoning, which acknowledged the right of the individual within a political framework exceeds that of the collective.

Rational Nation USA was first conceived, and driven by the philosophy, values, and objectivity of Ayn Rand. So much of  what she stood for in her life and works is missing in todays America, a land who's political and economic struture she admired and loved. She understood that while the founding fathers were flawed, as we all are, they put in place the greatest system of government ever known to mankind, and set in motion the greatest engine to create wealth. The system of capitalism.

My purpose today is not so much to extol the value and virtue of Ayn Rands work or life. It is to announce that beginning today, October 19, 2009, Rational Nation USA will find an appropriate Rand quote , video, or both bearing relevancy to current times. These will be posted each Monday in the forenoon.

10/19/09 Rand Quote of the Week - Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to become the means by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of other men. Blood, whips and guns--or dollars. Take your choice--there is no other.

  2. It is never to late.

Ayn Rand was one of the most prolific authors of the 20th century and without a doubt one of the profound thinkers of our age. At least in my very humble opinion.

Were she alive today she would be a very vocal critic of Obama and his socialist/statist agenda. She would state the case against his misguided and evil objectives more effectively, and in my view more forcefully than anyone alive today.

We need thinkers of her intellectual power and philosophical strength standing for liberty and capitalism more than ever today. Sadly there is in my humble opinion no one to fill her shoes.

Not even Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, O'Reilly, or Micheal Savage.
